I wonder who will be coaching?

barbee just needs 4 more years to turn it around
I jest a bit. But he is taking his sweet arse time about making us look watchable. We'll see improvement as the season goes on, I just wonder how much.

Why are we even allowed in that tourney?

One of these is not like the others.

He does need a few more. He whiffed on his first few recruiting classes. If he can keep this class at Auburn and they show improvement, then I have no problem giving him more time. I think he's learned a lot about how a dysfunctional AD works in his time here.
I don't think you fire the guy based on his recruiting misses so far when having to work through all the red tape that he's had to deal with.

If i gave the impression i wanted him fired i apologize. But i also don't understand the blind faith from the "barbee can do it" crowd that is so against the slightest bit of criticism towards the guy.

Na, you really didn't. I was just making a statement.
I'm not 100% saying he can do it. I don't know that yet. I just think people have to understand the culture with basketball at Auburn. It's tough for any coach to do anything here. Barbee was being restricted from a lot of AAU guys before. I'm not sure if that's still the case or not now. I think there's been a learning curve for him to understand how things work here. Personally, I think his timeline starts now. These freshmen are imperative to his future here.

If Barbee were to be fired one or two seasons from now, I would be scared shitless to see who JJ would pick up. Barbee at least has shown he can win and rebuild at other places. Plus he's a Calapiri protege with some connections.

AU Compliance killed his connections. Do you remember Komara's son that they made Barbee kick off the team? They don't want basketball to get football in trouble.

well it's not like auburn basketball has been spotless either

I'm not saying it has. One of my dad's friends was an assistant under Ellis and took a bullet for him. College basketball is dirtier than football. It's really tough to run a squeaky clean basketball program and be decent.

Because he's done it before. Twice.
I just don't understand the idiots who claim that it should only take "the right coach" a year or two to turn this program around to some level of unrealistic expectations. It doesn't work that way.
If we don't improve this year from last year, then it'll be time to question his job. But not after the second game.
He's a great coach. He just inherited a mess and his first two classes didn't pan out. Some were busts, some were quitters, one was a scandal.
I've criticized his moves before. He isn't perfect. But he's the man for the job at this time.

and folks with disagree with you.
You need to accept this and drop your "you guys don't know shite about hoops" act when someone does disagree with you. You're very diffficult to discuss basketball with.

I guess if you want to use it as a recruiting tool, Barbee can point out the level of competition he intends to play, and the fact that he needs players to compete.

Saying that it should only take one or two years to turn around a bad program shows that you don't know much about the game.
Calling this season a lost cause two games in shows that, too.
Yes, I find it hard to discuss the game with Johnny Rainclouds who come into the discussion with a rigid negative mindset.
You can disagree with me, just have logical reasons for your argument. Don't make blanket statements like the one/two year comment without any reasoning behind it. I can't argue with that. I can't discuss basketball with that.

who only gave him one year?
I just want to win a true road game this year...i don't think we won one last year.
Again i'm not saying he can't do it, but ultimately he is accountable for the whiffs in recruiting (which honestly should be the best time to recruit for a program like auburn, nice new gym hot coach, and initially, excitement from a fanbase that typically doesn't go all out for basketball). I just think the progress shoudl be more evident by now.
And it grinds my gears for someone to reconstruct a statement like that and come back to suggest that i expect duke/kentucky type results.
