Brother, take a breath. I don’t view the role of content moderator on a board with <100 members as any sort of power trip and I get zero sense of self worth from it.

Maybe we should have a personal attack thread stickied. It can have a cool name like ‘The playground’ and when people have beef they can be like “meet me at the playground!” And then all personal attacks can happen there instead of taking up pages on a topic people might actually be interested in.

that’s a good rule of thumb. If anything controversial comes from the moderation group it’s definitely Rig’s fault.

FWIW, this was the exact thing I read that caused me to want to step in. Surely you can see why I felt something ought to be done when you have posters wanting to leave the site.
I’ll concede I should have said something before taking action, so I’m sorry if that created any problems. People can’t read my mind and I shouldn’t assume they know my motivations.

Read my responses to that poster and tell me what the heck was wrong with them.

FWIW, this was the exact thing I read that caused me to want to step in. Surely you can see why I felt something ought to be done when you have posters wanting to leave the site.

If it makes you feel better I upvoted each of your posts as I took them down
I felt jangalang’s posts were over the line, but as you said earlier, content moderation ought to be consistent. I know you were just responding to his posts but there was no way for me to view his stuff as worthy of deletion and keep the responses insulting him up. I felt he’d have a legitimate gripe if I did that.
So I felt I had two options:
1) Do nothing. Well the thread was being wrecked and a poster left the site with that approach
2) Delete the offending posts and try to get the topic back on track. Well I took this path but obviously it hasn’t worked yet
