Does Pearl demand absolutely zero defense? I'd venture to say 80% of 3s are uncontested. Hell, even on offensive boards, it's like our players just watch the ball as it travels down into the hands of the defender.. Does he coddle them?

Dunans gets gifted a rebound, jogs to the other end with nobody covering Heron, throws up a contested 3 within five seconds (knowing no chance of a rebound), and the other team pushes and nails a quick 3. What's it going to take?

Overall, this effort is alarming. It pisses me off to see Purifoy out there seeing this as a great opportunity to improve our game, yet every other player looks like they don't give a frick. This attitude catches up to you in the season. This team loses fight the moment we're up by 15+.
If I were Bruce, I would tell Bryce and Lang to stop shooting 3's.

Coach Prrson does most of the defensive work for the team. I agree, his effort in scheming needs to step up.

I was really hoping that Purdue was just red hot the other night and that Wiley would come in next semester. After watching this game tonight, we just sucked against Purdue and I dont think adding Wiley will fix this.

I just wish we would stop settling for contested 3's.some of the best offense I've seen so far has begun off a faked 3 shot then drive inside.

Don't read much into this game. It's a dead atmosphere and we're keeping a 10 point lead. Bruce does need to work on the effort though.

It's as if he's playing percentages of his college days.. The 3 ball dominates these days. They're practiced thoroughly. If you leave them uncontested, I'd venture to say most teams will hit above 50%.

Through talent alone.. Point is, he should be benching folks that are playing like they're being forced to. Every player on the court should be viewing it as an opportunity, not like they're handing AU a favor for gracing the court with their presence.

Agree with that for sure. Effort will be better in bigger games, but this type of effort is a problem.
