Ya he did, I want to say he hit at least one 3 after that. Was surprised, he didn't put any weight on it as he walked off then looked just fine

Murray is 6' 4". I could see stretch 4 but not 5.

Article on Auburn's site says he playing the 3 and 4.

Murray has always been a post player depsite being only 6'4. He showed no signs of an outside game at Presbyterian and was used as PF/Post presence

In scrimmages at Auburn, he looks like he gained a ton of weight and played exclusively in a post role. Looked like a Chris Webber high post passer type

I could easily see Purifoy moving to a more perimeter role next year. We're really 11 deep without counting New at all. I hope he breaks in because that's just more talent. I just don't see it personally.

Purifoy already plays a lot beyond the perimeter as a stretch 4. Pearl historically loves having a Purifoy type at 4 (Tobias Harris) as they are matchup nightmares for opponents

My argument is we only have 3 guys for the 1/2. We could slide Heron there but then that would mean Bryce Brown is a bench player

I think they'll slide Heron or Lang over there for some minutes if needed. Lang is the guy that could lose minutes if anyone, IMO.

It'd have been nice if New would've just redshirted last year.

We won't have many true guards next year though. Heron/Lang fit the 3 better than other places

If Davion Mitchell has any type of learning curve, or Harper/Brown get injrued we are in real trouble next year if New isn't available.

Lang is a 2. Has a better perimeter game than slashing/post ability. Also, Murray will be at the 2. I hope New doesn't transfer, because he has tons of potential, but if he isn't 100 percent, he has a long way to go.

Care to explain why you think we'd take a Power Forward and move him to the 2 guard?

Lang currently plays the 3.

Bruce had Murray at 3 and 4 per Murray. He's 230 and looks like he may even be bigger than that now. No way he's playing the 2.

He played the 4/5 in scrimmages. I believe he was brought in for 3/4, but no way he plays the 3 given how he has put on weight. He has to be the heaviest guy on the team from whta it looks like

I see him turning into a Cinmeon Bowers type PF/C who trades height for bulk+ low center of gravity in the post

Lang plays spot up shooter and bad defense.

Ya, just happens from the 3 position

I love how the one time he has an awesome pump fake and looks great driving inside he twists his ankle

I love being able to argue about where we're going to play 4 and 5 star players.

Agreed. I do get nostalgic over Barbee yelling "F@%$-ING CHUBB" across empty arenas here and there.

People trash the idea of Murray playing C, but I see him becoming a better version of Cinmeon Bowers. Bowers was 6'5 and generally was solid to good in the post, the guy just couldn't hit the backboard on open layups

What are you talking about? Bowers was a point guard.

I actually kinda miss him running down the court wildly, going behind the back, then botching a layup.

I think the hope is we won't need him at C. Austin Wiley should be the starter there & then you have Spencer off the bench. I think Murray helps us more at the 3 or 4.

The idea of a starting 5 of Harper/Heron/Murray/Purifoy/Wiley makes me very happy

It is amazing to me how if Bowers shot even 40-45% FG (>50% FT), he would be one of the most beloved players in Auburn history.

It is like watching a parody of an AND1 mixtape, where a fat guy does all the dribble drive moves then botches the wide open layup

Well the few games where our Starting, backup and emergency PGs weren't suspended/injured/injured and Bowers play 5/C ......
When Bowers played well in the post, he was an absolute monster despite height disadvantage.

Seems like the real question is who develops more going into next year, Lang or Williams for that topic

Murray is a post player and needs to be though. Spencer is a guaranteed foul out
