OL I can understand not being able to get people. We have a bunch of veteran OL. They’re not good, but they’re established and that is a big con to guys who may only have a year or two left.
Personally.. I would have thanked those veteran OL for their service to Auburn and hit the portal HARD.

Thanks Jonesy, but I hope our well-paid, highly-skilled coaches have a better sales pitch than that.

Sounds good except for the fact that every other coaching staff in our league (that we compete with) is also well paid and highly skilled We just fired a better paid staff with better recruiters so I’m not sure that’s ever an argument to hang your hat on. At some point you’ve gotta look at the rooms and coaches. Some here will tell you that coaches are a wash across the board. I can’t tell you it’s not. But great players, on average, tend to sign up for stacked position rooms at the best schools. Call that a good coach, recruiter, manager/leader of men, whatever. That ain’t our OL, WR, or QB room no matter how you label the coach.

Nobody should misunderstand my reasoning as an excuse and pardon for the coaching staff. South Carolina got a QB and transfer portal success followed.

A lot of our issues stem from one problem and have done so for a while. So far, the current staff hasn’t solved it either.

I answered the question at hand. OL and WR transfer portal. Failing to see that those positions aren’t one you can jump into and succeed is failing to see the problem. And the solution isn’t a quick fix. We’re in trouble there for a while, I’m afraid

English is good, that's 1 if we get him. And then there's? Nakai Poole maybe?

Karmello English and Khai Prean are the two I’ve seen the most. Poole being another.

This is a solid point. Not sure what’s happening there so far and we’re nearly in May

Agree Gus did not leave much here, while he might have recruited higher ranked kids a lot did not pan out and Gus was not a good recruiting for filling needs

Gus left the OL room bare. No need to rehash that timeline. The WR room lacked true high end guys but he mostly did OK there.

We’ve kinda beaten his recruiting successes and failures into the ground. At this stage it’s Harsin’s job to figure it out now regardless of what was done previously. This is a crucial cycle for the future of the program. There’s some positive things happening but there’s a long ways to go and any class put together has to survive whatever happens next fall on the field and behind the scenes

Next week, Robinson will leave the region and check out Auburn and Tennessee.

“I’ll be at Auburn May 4-5,” Robinson said. “They’re on me hard and I have a really good relationship with coach (Carnell) Williams. He has been straight up with me and said when he first reached out that he knows they were a little late on me, but he would love the opportunity to coach and develop me.

“That’s SEC football and, being from the South, I know how great the football is out there. They like big, physical running backs in the South and I think I would fit in really well.

RB Roderick Robinson with some additional information on Auburn. He has family in Alabama and his mom lives in South Carolina.

Made 4* S Braxton Myers top 7

Regarding Auburn: “That’s my mom’s dream school. Since her and Bo Jackson went to school together she’s always been a fan of Auburn. Being able to contribute to the team early and my relationship with Coach Etheridge and knowing he’s alumni from there and him doing what it takes to put me in the league.”

Gave y’all the early heads up on the kid from Leeds underclassmen. Here’s another he will either play big DE or interior DL. Demarcus Wynn of Ramsey high. He’s 6’1” 240 now but should play in 2 years as a senior around 6’3” ish 270ish. Quick burst and strong. Not elite speed.

Yes 2024. Hudl highlights added to prior post. He will be a later bloomer but has SEC skill just needs to continue to eat get stronger and not as dynamic as the kid from Leeds but different role.

Henderson will be a steal for anyone that gets him. Sky is the limit.

Wynn will probably max out at a high 3 possibly low 4 but very smart. Also plays AAU basketball. His mom works 3 jobs so hope they best for him. His brother plays small college basketball somewhere but can’t remember where.

Sorry to spam but Wynn has visited AU, USCe. Plans to try to go to some camps this summer. So he’s is on the SEC circles radar.

A’Mon Lane is a stud as well. Transfer from Thompson to Moody. His adopted father is the new head coach at Moody was the D coordinator at Thompson. Might have to play LB this year. He’s listed at CB for 247 but probably more of a safety. 2024 kid. All these kids out there for the taking. Just sayin

RB Roderick Robinson
His running style reminds me of Chrys Chuckwuma that played for Arkansas if anyone remembers him. Just a beast of a RB for Arky.

AU recruited Chuckwuma at the tail end of Terry Bowden's tenure when he was enamored with scat backs like Demontray Carter and the "Lizard", IIRC. The story behind his recruitment is that Rick Trickett, Rodney Allison, and Jimbo Fisher all wanted to offer Chuckwuma a scholarship, and Bowden vetoed it. To that, Rodney Allison replied, 'Whats wrong with him? Is he too big or too fast?'

On OL:

I think we’re in a really good spot/leading for 4* OT Stanton Ramil and 4* OG Clay Wedin. We also may be leading for 4* OT Shamurad Umarov.

We’re in play for 4* OT Wilkin Formby.

And there’s guys like 3* OT Connor Stroh, 3* OT Vysen Lang, 3* OG Connor Lew and some others that I think Auburn could push for potentially

Last week I thought we might possibly lead for Umarov. However, we didn’t make his top 4 today.

He had a lot of great things to say after visiting several weeks ago. Wonder what happened there

The love commitment has worn off. Time to try to close out May with 3-4 commitments before the summer camps and 7v7 seasons get rolling.

I just don’t see us in the lead for a ton of kids right now. And I don’t think Harsin is on the hot seat as much as is out in public. I think the admin wants the football facility built and unless Harsin breaks a moral clause I think he’s back again next year. However a 4-8, 3-9 record could change things quickly.

That sucks.. I really liked him. Hopefully someone pulls the trigger soon and gets the momentum rolling again.
