I feel like there’s some guys waiting for someone else to commit. We need to have some dominoes start to fall soon or we’ll just be stuck as a “great visit” school, the recruiting equivalent of being friend zoned.

That’s actually interesting because everyone thought the Bama offer changed things

Maybe Corch can shine a light here. Maybe the really, really early Auburn offer made a huge impact? Because Auburn believed in him when everyone thought his ceiling was inflated because of Finkley

Osborne quotes from 247:

quote:

“I mean, on a scale of 1 to 10 it was about a 15,” Osborne said. “They just made me feel really wanted and I really did appreciate that. It felt like home. All the coaches they have on staff, they’re showing they really want me.”

quote:

“I got to go around campus, watch practice, spend time with all the coaches and players,” Osborne said. “What stood out was definitely getting to see the campus.”

4* OT Kelton Smith

Both visited Auburn midweek and both left with different impressions than what they came in with

Auburn also had 3* OT Patrick Screws on campus again

Caldwell/247 seems to like Auburn’s progress with 4* TE Jelani Thurman and 4* OT Wilkin Formby. Formby isn’t in a hurry to decide but he seems to understand Auburn’s urgent need and spoke well about Friend, practice, and the overall experience he’d have as a lineman in that room.

Likewise, 3* OT Vysen Lang talked a lot about his relationships with coaches, players, and also friends from high school at Pike Road going to Auburn.

My take — way too early to know anything on Formby, his recruitment is wide open right now but Auburn will be near the top of his list and our biggest threat is Bama if they turn up the heat.

I do like where Auburn is with Vysen Lang, though. And he’s a stud.

Auburn has done a good job of getting into the thick of these OL battles early. Last season they were chasing and they cut bait with a lot of guys during the process. Way different feel this cycle. This feels normal which is weird to say about OL recruitment

Auburn ranked second-most boring NCAA football team in survey

The Auburn Wire article you linked misrepresented the actual results of the survey. From TickPick.com:

quote:

It's not shocking that football fans voted the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide the most entertaining football team to watch, followed by the Ohio State Buckeyes and conference rival Georgia Bulldogs. And of the top 10 teams mentioned in this category, the SEC claimed four.
AU football was #2 in the "Least Entertaining" category, which I assume would reflect the team in 2021 rather than 2022, which after the LSU game I would have to concur (although for everyone not in burnt orange and navy blue, our complete collapse against MSU had to have been pretty entertaining ).

Apparently they had a separate survey question about "Most Boring" teams:
quote:

The most boring football team landed Army, BYU, Baylor, and Akron in the top four spots. Taking fifth place in the boring category was Nick Saban's Alabama squad. Perhaps watching a team roll over their weekly opponents may fall into the "watching paint dry" category.
So Bama was the #1 "Most Entertaining" team while simultaneously #5 in "Most Boring". Kinda diminishes the value of the survey, don't it?

I’m not debating the survey is inaccurate. It is.

But we didn’t even have to go to a different planet to be more boring than Boston College. And that’s an achievement within itself.
