Since when was Top 10 classes in 7 of the last 8 years sub par recruiting? AU has never recruited at this level consistently before except Dye in the 80s. For the most part developing has been the problem, not recruiting.
You're mostly correct but the issue is our two main rivals are the ones whipping us on the trail. That and Clemson has taken our spot in GA.

How was it bad exactly
It paved the way for both of our biggest rivals to get into the playoff. One won the SEC, by embarrassing us, and won an epic Rose Bowl on national television and the other won the National Title.
It also caused us to massively overpay our head coach who on November 10th was on shaky ground and reminded everybody why both times we traveled to Atlanta.

Given that last year was the one year we didn’t get a top ten class and the staff failed to get a quality OT or TE despite the need for them day one, I’d call the class subpar. Cute gif though.

Outside of OT what was the major miss at positions of need? Genuinely curious about where you think this class came up short outside of the obvious hole at offensive tackle

KN says 3* TE Nikolas Ognenovic has arrived for a visit. Doesn't yet have an AU offer
Pretty sure he was a standout at a Rivals camp recently

I think we really needed another corner.

That's fair. Definitely still mad we lost out on Armour-Davis after being the clear favorite his whole junior year

Weren't they rated like outside of the top 300 best recruits last year? I remember after Derek Dooley was fired at Tennessee, in looking at a lot of the classes he signed, many analysts keep going back to how one year he didn't sign a single offensive lineman. If you really think about it - we aren't that far off from what Derek Dooley did.

Ya they were both outside the top 300 so I understand the concern. Personally I think Jalil Irvin was criminally underrated but I don't dispute that OL recruiting sucked last class

If you really think about it you realize we are a long arse way from Derek Dooley

Sure but we signed 2 OL. I understand thinking they might suck but at least we signed some
Overall, I thought the 2018 signing class was one of Malzahn's best. The lack of an OT definitely knocks it down a grade & it lacked a 5* prospect but I thought it was one of our deepest classes. At the positions Auburn might need guys to play right away (DB & RB) AU landed some guys that can challenge for early PT & at positions that are deeper landed some guys with big time upside (DL & WR)

OG, C,TE and CB
And Thai, if you want an example of OL issues ruining a program, that would be FSU although recruiting wasn’t the problem.

Our problem isn't OL recruiting but OL development. We will have 12 OL, none are seniors and ~7 are 4* recruits
If we get 3-4 OL recruits this cycle, we'd be in perfect shape moving forward.

In what fantasy world do you live in that you think TE is a position of need?
We could have Rob Gronkowski walk on the field and we wouldn't throw him te ball unless he lined up as a WR.

and CB
The miss here hurts only if we strike out again this year. We have enough depth to get us past the next two years + JUCO pumps out some competent CBs worst case scenario

You missed the point. We're recruiting top 10. We control who Auburn gets. It's moronic to expect state schools like UGA to not get their lions share in GA. And Bama is and always will be the better draw as a recruiter.
Not sure what you're bitching about.
