Auburn commit is ready to check out other SEC schools (Rivals)
So that's what Nolan Smith was doing in AU a few weekends ago....
quote:
HOOVER, Ala. — George Pickens is a 2019 wide receiver and he is one of the best in the country. The 6-foot-4, 190 pound playmaker committed to Auburn in July, but other schools have definitely not given up on him.
He has added numerous offers since his commitment to the Tigers, who signed his former teammate, wide receiver Shedrick Jackson in the 2018 class and Pickens is listening to what other schools have to say.
The Rivals 250 talent plans to take some visits, that has always been his plan, but he will a tough pull from Auburn.
"I am going to take visits to Georgia, Florida and Tennessee, but I am still committed to Auburn right now," said Pickens. "For me to change my mind and to go a school other than Auburn, it would have to be a better environment for me. I would just have to feel better.
"How I feel at Auburn is at home, so that is why I am committed to them."
Pickens has not visited Athens, Gainesville or Knoxville yet. A school he has visited more than once though since being committed to Auburn is Alabama. He knew Jeremy Pruitt from his time in Tuscaloosa, so that is a big part of why the Vols have his attention.
"Tennessee really just jumped in the picture when coach Pruitt took that job. I started hearing from them, so I started looking up their program and I have started talking to their coaches.
"Coach Pruitt wants me there and when we talked, he told me to come there, be my own man and start my own legacy there at Tennessee. I am definitely going to check them out."
Like Tennessee, Florida had a coaching change in the off-season as well. Dan Mullen left Mississippi State to take over at the Swamp and that caught Pickens' attention.
"I think coach Mullen can change things at Florida," said Pickens. "He did a great job at Mississippi State, especially on offense, so I want to get down there. I have heard about the great environment at Florida and I like coach Mullen, so they are a school I will be visiting."
The only visit he has scheduled at this time is to Georgia this weekend. The Bulldogs have come on strong in February and the two have recently been in communication daily.
He is ready to see Athens.
"I really like the people around Georgia and how they play. They have great coaches, they play aggressive and they go hard after it. They have been on me hard the last few weeks and I have been talking to coach [Glenn] Schumann a good bit.
"I have talked to one of their commitments too, Nolan Smith, and he told me some things about their program and what they are building there. I just want to check it out and see what it is like."
Pickens is not even thinking about re-opening his recruitment or anything like that, but he is open to hearing what other coaches have to say and he is going to give other schools a shot.
Like most commitments, he is going to take visits. Auburn will be very tough to beat though. He talks with offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and wide receivers coach Kodi Burns every day, so he is tight with those guys. Will another coach be able to build that type of relationship with this four star?
"I am about building relationships with coaches right now," said Pickens. "I want to see how close I can get to a coach and how we relate. That will tell me a lot about a school and just how I feel about them.
"Auburn is a school I still feel great about, but I have to look around and make sure of everything."

Unfortunately Tim Watts believes DJ Dale & Christian Williams are close to committing to Bama. Williams especially would be a big pickup for AU but doesn't look likely right now

Finally watched Flott's tape
Needs to put some more muscle on that frame but I'm a fan. Long with good ball skills and a decent tackler. Need a legit boundary CB in this class & I think he would fit the bill. Can't let Bama take both Williams & Flott

According to KN earlier this week 4* LB/Buck Ge'mon Eaford, 4* TE Luke Deal, 3* OG Kingsley Equakun (MIA Commit) & 3* TE Tyler Fromm are all visiting this weekend. Sure there will be more names come out today
Keep an eye on Eaford. Wolk already has him CB'd to AU tho he seems high on MIA & UF too right now

8 4-star prospects among 16 recruits coming to Auburn's junior day (AL.com)

Eight 4-star prospects will be among the 16 recruits visiting Auburn for its Junior Day on Saturday.
Running back John Emery Jr. (Destrehan, La.), offensive guard Keiondre Jones (Hogansville, Ga.), defensive ends Braylen Ingraham (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Derrick Mclendon (Tucker, Ga.), Jaren Handy (New Augusta, Miss. and Nate Pickering (Seminary, Miss.) and corners Devin Bush (New Orleans) and GeMon Eaford (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) headline the group of prospects coming to the Plains.
Additional 2019 recruits attending are 3-star tight ends Luke Deal (Greenwood, S.C.) and Tyler Fromm (Warner Robbins, Ga.) and corners Raykwon Anderson (Folkston, Ga.) and Martin Emerson (Pensacola, Fla.).
Three 2020 prospects are attending, including a pair of teammates at Mceachern High in Powder Springs, Ga. Running back Jordan Simmons and defensive tackle Jamil Burroughs are joined by Muscle Shoals inside linebacker Jackson Bratton.
The lone 2021 prospect coming to Auburn this weekend is quarterback Aaron McLaughlin of Suwanee, Ga.
Auburn has two commits in its 2019 recruiting class, quarterback Bo Nix and wide receiver George Pickens, which ranks 23rd very early in the cycle and one in 2020 from defensive end Andy Boykin.

KN says AU will have around 50 prospects on campus this weekend. Here's list (it's pretty much same as above)
4* DL Nathan Pickering - 2nd visit this year, a top AU target
4* RB John Emery - I like him more than Noah Cain honestly
4* DE Jaren Handy - Top 100 player from MS, recently called Bama is dream school....
4* CB Devin Bush - Has AU in his top group
4* OG Keiondre Jones - One of AU's top OG targets, CLEM a major threat
4* LB Ge'mon Eaford - Wolk has him CB'd to AU
4* DE Braylen Ingraham - Former teammates with Anthony Schwartz
4* DE Derrick McClendon - Former teammates with Micheal Harris
3* TE Luke Deal - My favorite TE target
3* TE Tyler Fromm - Jake Fromm's younger brother, was offered this past week
3* CB Raykwon Anderson - Only listed offer is from UK
3* CB Martin Emerson Jr - 6'2" DB with one SEC offer from MSST
2020 LB Jackson Bratton - already holds offers from AU & BAMA
2020 DT Jamil Burroughs - expected to be one of top prospects in next year's class
2020 RB Jordan Simmons - teammates with Burroughs, another kid that will be highly ranked next year
2021 QB Aaron Mclaughlin - wouldn't be shocked to see him land an offer, elite QB prospect
That's a pretty solid list. Getting Pickering back on campus already is huge. Hoping we impress those LA dudes as well (Emery & Bush)

Pickering didn't make it...
But Emery came Friday and apparently he's high on AU board and AU thinks they have a legitimate shot all according to KN

I don't know, I think it would be worse to live with your head in the sand.

About recruits going to a b-ball game? Lol
Posted on 3/3/18 at 3:21 pm to blzr
It's a joke man, every time we see a recruit at a bball game with Gus we never sign them.

Will post updates when I get a chance but sounds like we are a major player for Emery. Staff wants him and Noah Cain in this class. If they can get either that would be big
Also Owen Pappoe visiting tomorrow according to KN
