If we only take one more DB after Zion whose film do you like best between Kelly, Bush, Pritchett, and Logan?
First off, I will be happy with any of these 4. Don't have to do any mental gymnastics to talk myself into them. It's insane how far our DB recruiting has come.
Alright so here's my fake expert opinion on these guys
1.) Cam'Ron Kelly - Big kid, probably better suited at safety but dude is strong as hell
2.) Nehemiah Pritchett - Really long arms, VERY fast & wins 50/50 jump balls. Probably more of a Nickel or safety imo
3.) Devin Bush - Thick kid with good quickness. Understand top end speed concerns. CB all the way. Not sure why Tennessee would take Jaydon Hill over him. I like Bush more (Pruitt & Charles Kelly are also a lot better at this than me so you should believe them)
4.) Kenny Logan - Not as big as I thought for some reason. Can stop on a dime and has that pull away speed in open field. Solid safety target
Take that as a major FWIW

FWIW some buzz on LSU boards that Dreshun Miller is gonna flip from their class. One of 247 crootin writers say Miller wanted to keep his visit to AU quiet. Apparently momma wants him closer to home (she lives in GA). AU could be a bigger player in that recruitment than we realized. Only question is would they take a JUCO DB over underclassmen like Nehemiah Pritchett or Kenny Logan

If we didn't recruit Keyton hard we screwed up. He was ballin

quote:Thank God for Steele & now Wooden. Despite what Wolk posted on the Bunker I think Brown only had a major impact on Sherwood. Smoke was Gus & Steele.Smoke raved about Steele a number of times being a big factor on his home run visit to AU last Summer.
Just an FYI since hiring this guy
We've landed
4* S Smoke Monday
4* S Jamien Sherwood
4* CB Christian Tutt
3* CB Roger McCreary
4* CB Jaylin Simpson
4* S Jashawn Sheffield
4* CB Zion Puckett
Brown is like Grimes. A good teacher & Xs & Os guy. Woodson is the salesman & sells Brown well to our DB targets. Too bad we can't have an 11th assistant coach to be the OL salesman to sell Grimes.

Yes he was not the sole reason AU landed every single one of those DBs. But it's a little ridiculous to not give him a tip of the cap especially considering the melt that happened when he was first hired. Dude works the trail, has an eye for talent and can sit down with these kids and show them where they can improve & how they fit in the defense. Tutt highlighted that as a big reason he stuck with AU. It ain't a coincidence he joins the staff & all of a sudden we are reeling in 4* talent at DB
Also I trust Wolk's commentary more than lots of supposed insiders (that's not pointed at you FWIW)

Just looking at Brown’s recruits that he signed and his frequent role as secondary recruiter, I believe there are several reasons why Goober is helping with recruiting, but I also believe there are other coaches doing some leg work selling his on the field successes. Doesn’t matter who persuades the recruits or how we get them as long as they sign though. Same for Grimes and OL recruiting.

I don't contribute much to this thread, but Puckett and Pappoe on the field is going to be awesome.

Thinking of a group with Puckett, Tutt, Iggy, Smoke, Sherwood, Pappoe, Harris, McClain, Jibunor, Moultry, Big Kat ....that's a TON of speed on defense, including dudes that can lay absolute lumber.

KN said on podcast this morning he thinks AU could flip 3* DE LeDarrius Cox any day now

quote:I did. I gave him Sherwood.
you can give Brown SOME credit
quote:I didn't say nor imply there wasn't. Just saying while Brown is used as a tool, he's not the one closing most of the sales. Also since you brought up McGriff, he was about to go off on the trail before he took the Ole Miss DC job. As you know he had big time DB Devon Hunter silently committed & about to go public before he left.
But it's ridiculous to not at least recognize the fact that there has been a noticeable uptick in AU's recruiting since Brown replaced McGriff

That's fine but still doesn't make him a good recruiter. He's still not the one closing most of the sales. He's a good evaluator & great on field coach. Our good recruiters are selling CGB attributes well.
quote:Steele spearheaded DB recruiting after McGriff left til we got Woodson to help out. Been reported a number of times.
It ain't a coincidence he joins the staff & all of a sudden we are reeling in 4* talent at DB
quote:Ok but not sure why you even said that. Everything I have posted on this topic has come from recruit interviews & AU reporters (including articles Wolk had while at SEC Country) discussing & highlighting Steele & later Woodson as major factors for the wins & not so much Brown.
Also I trust Wolk's commentary more than lots of supposed insiders (that's not pointed at you FWIW)
