quote:No. Under new rules passed last April signees who don't qualify still count against the 25 initial counter limit.
Kind of related to this, but with Oladele out does that open up another spot for this year?

What’s the story w Oladele? If it’s grades, it would seem he would have to go Jr college route. Announcement seemed to imply there has been a mutual parting of the esys.

Auburn signee looking for new home (Rivals)
My guess is he ends up like Carlito Gonzalez. Signing out of conference at somewhere with less strict admissions. Don't think this was a case of AU dropping a guy
quote:
Kayode Oladele is looking for a new home.
Oladele, a four-star defensive end from Hialeah, Fla., signed with the Tigers in February, but will not be enrolling at Auburn in the fall.
“I’m not fully qualified because some of my credits were not counted by the NCAA,” Oladele said. “I’m short of some credits, so I have to take more classes.”
Oladele signed with Auburn over Ole Miss and Tennessee, among others. He was ranked the No. 22 defensive end in the 2018 class.
“I can’t even grayshirt at Auburn,” Oladele said. “I’m parting ways with Auburn and looking for another home to further my education and football career.”
Oladele said he’ll now work to finish qualifying while searching for a new school.
“I’m open to all schools,” he said.
Oladele is the first academic casualty in Auburn’s 2018 class, which included 24 signees in February and was ranked No. 12 nationally. Four-star defensive lineman Coynis Miller also has not reported to Auburn as he works to qualify.
My guess is he ends up like Carlito Gonzalez. Signing out of conference at somewhere with less strict admissions. Don't think this was a case of AU dropping a guy

I thought he could be a partial qualifier? Pretty sure SEC doesn't allow them though

Picked up a few more CBs for Jalen Curry & Keiondre Jones

On bad news side, Steve Wiltfong CB'd Noah Cain to LSU yesterday. However, when explaining his pick he threw in the important caveat that how LSU does on the field will play a big role
So this might be hard for some of ya'll but we need to cheer for LSU to fail next season....

No. We need to cheer for Gus to get his head out of his arse, and start rotating RBs more. Then the recruiting will be what we're used to at the RB position, instead of striking out every year.
And yes, I know we got Asa last year. But we need more than just 1 or 2 top backs.

Are the admissions really that much lower at a place like Memphis that they can get in right away there but can't even qualify for a greyshirt at AU?
Losing Gonzalez was okay, but I think Oladele has a ton of potential, sucks losing him. Dude was jacked, I almost forgot about him though with him being such a late addition

quote:Could be in conference to FWIW. Just depends on the school. Lavon Hooks wanted to come to AU in the 2013 class but could not meet Auburn standards because AU would not accept a D in an English class he took while Ole Miss could & did.

Some interesting comments by Marcello in podcast on Oladele
Seems to imply that he's not getting the best advice from those close around him

Ok. You just named 4 guys that were recruiting in 2013 or before. Now name me out of the past 4 recruiting class how many RBs will be drafted? KJ. That's it.

2015: KJ
2016: They are about to be JR's
2017: They are about to be SO's
2018: Literally just got on campus.
Yes, safe to say everyone except KJ is a miss and has not shot at the league.

Between him and Lanier, I'm starting to agree.
