KN also provided more info behind his Osborne CB earlier this afternoon. Osborne has been on AU's radar for awhile & they've worked real hard to get him on campus. His OV apparently went extremely well & was a group effort between Malzahn, Grimes, Lindsey & Greg Brown (area recruiter). Gus took Osborne for a ride in his car, something only does with recruits he really likes. KN says Osborne was pumped after his OV & wanted to do an interview but dad had him hold off in respect of TCU. Confidence is pretty high on AU's side but apparently our ole pal Herb Hand & the Longhorns could be a factor as well. Chance decision comes next week. 2 of KN's sources confirmed AU wants him at tackle

Auburn recruiting: Noah Cain listens to Cadillac Williams; Justin Osborne’s de-commitment (SECCountry)
quote:

Will Noah Cain’s relationship with Cadillac Williams help Auburn?

Auburn’s search for a 2019 running back starts at an obvious place: Noah Cain.

The 4-star IMG Academy (Fla.) running back serves that role for many more programs. LSU, Texas, Ohio State, Georgia and several others see Cain as the No. 1 back on their respective positional wish lists. The Tigers do, too, and that’s resulted in two visits from Cain this spring, plus a separate visit made by his mother to check out the program on her own.

Auburn’s best ambassador, however, might be right alongside Cain at IMG Academy.

IMG Academy’s running backs coach is Tigers legend Carnell “Cadillac” Williams. Cain is able to speak to and learn from Williams on a daily basis.

“He’s been where I want to be at. The things he’s done, that’s certainly what I want to do or even surpass it,” Cain said. “Coach Lac is always preaching to me every day about putting the effort in, going 100 percent, just to get to where I want to go.

“That’s what I really need. That’s why I went to IMG, to be corrected by people who have been where I want to be. I want to be better, and he wants to get me there.”

Cain’s relationship with Williams — despite the obvious differences — is similar to that of Cam Newton and many of his 7-on-7 players. Williams has the ability to talk about his positive experiences on the Plains, but it isn’t in his nature to tell a prospect they should go to Auburn just because he did.

Cain said that’s the approach Williams has taken with his recruitment.

“I wouldn’t say he steers me in any way. He just wants what’s best for me,” Cain said. “But it helps that he can tell me a little bit about Auburn and what it’s like to actually be a student-athlete at Auburn. But he doesn’t tell me I should do anything other than what I think is best for me.”

I love that he calls him "Coach Lac"

IMG Academy tackle de-commits from TCU after Auburn visit

Justin Osborne hasn’t said much since his Auburn official visit last weekend. He elected against doing interviews after that trip to the Plains. There hadn’t been much information from the TCU side of things after that visit, either.

On Tuesday, it became clear why.

Osborne de-committed from the Horned Frogs via Twitter: “I would like to thank the TCU coaching staff, but I have decided that I’m de-committing from TCU and re-opening my recruitment.”

He hasn’t specified when he’d like to commit to another program, but it should go without saying that this is great news for Auburn. Multiple sources have told me Auburn feels it is the team to beat following the official visit, and that came before the de-commitment. With his de-commitment, that feeling is even stronger.

It’s not a done deal for the Tigers, however. Osborne holds offers from programs such as Michigan, Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah and others. His official visit schedule will be an important one to track.

Kudos to offensive line coach J.B. Grimes for establishing a relationship this spring. Grimes and running backs coach Tim Horton (to see Cain) went to IMG Academy at every allowable occasion this spring. The picture became clearer in recent weeks that Osborne was one of the focal pieces of those evaluation visits.

Class Calculator fun ... (247)
quote:

If Auburn were to land Jashawn Sheffield, Justin Osborne and Colby Wooden -- three players we think it leads for and who will decide soon most likley -- it would have 223.29 points .... that's good for 4th in the recruiting team rankings as of TODAY.

Add the following to that and this is what you get ...

Jalen Curry: 234.93 --- 3rd in the rankings

AND ...

Keiondre Jones: 244.89 -- 3rd

AND ...

Derick Hall: 252.19 -- 2nd

AND ...

Andrew Booth: 264.14 -- 2nd

Land all those guys and a top-10 finish is all but assured. And AU would still have about 5-6 spots left to fill.

Could be a big summer for Auburn. We'll see.

Cordale Flott taking an OV to LSU this weekend. Says doesn't hear much from AU but still considers himself committed....

Got a sneaky feeling Flott ain't gonna be apart of this class opening door for Nehemiah Pritchett

Not even sure LSU would have room for him with them trending for Joe Porter Jr, probably gonna land Stingley and the team to beat for Devin Bush. Flott playing a dangerous game...

I haven't got the vibe that Flott will be in this class, even after he committed he didn't seem 100%.

That still leaves Baily Sharpe as our backup LT
Back up LTs are whoever doesn't win the RT job. My guess is BS would be 4th at best.

I don't remember if he's eligible this year after transferring in(I think he is), but if he is Jack Driscoll is probably the back up over Bailey Sharpe. Or they would probably move Ashley/Troxell or someone else out there over Sharpe.
RT is a 3 way battle w/ Driscoll, Ashley, & Trox. The losers should be ahead of BS at LT.

I agree - I feel like his commitment was to keep a seat at the table, considering the big fish we are after. He may get pushed out anyway.

Also said he doesn't plan to OV AU which I found interesting. It honestly sounds like we are de-recruiting him.

Or make room at another position. Taking another WR &Hand-Holly likely going on scholly next year means #s will be tight. Can't remember if it was JT, Rhyme, or who called the numbers being tight but good call.

Ya pretty sure he said he was "75%" committed after his announcement

FWIW I like Flott so would love to see him stick but given AU's options this class he isn't a must have like he might have been in previous years. Would have no problem replacing him with Burrell or Pritchett
