I wonder if this is the Handy commitment or something else given that it isn’t exactly evening time yet.

4-star DE Jaren Handy commits to Auburn (247)
quote:
During an interview with Auburn Undercover at his family's home in early May, Jaren Handy said when he visited Auburn he got a different feeling than at other schools. There was something unique about the Tigers, he said.
On Monday, the 4-star defensive end from Hattiesburg (Miss.) committed to the Tigers.
“I feel comfortable there and I built a relationship with the people I met down there,” Handy said.
Handy most recently visited Auburn earlier this month for Big Cat Weekend. He spent four days on campus during that visit.
For Auburn, this is one of the biggest gets in the 2019 class to date.
The 6-feet-5, 278-pound Handy is the No. 8 strong-side end and No. 108 prospect nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite. If he continues to grow, he could play tackle in college.
He is commitment No. 11 for Auburn, which moved up from 18th to 13th in the recruiting team rankings.
Handy is the second player from Mississippi to commit to Auburn in three days. Three-star defensive end Jamond Gordon gave the Tigers his pledge Saturday.
Auburn is recruiting the state of Mississippi particularly hard in the 2019 cycle. Gordon is the first 2019 commit from the state for Auburn — but the Tigers hope he is not the last. They also are in the running with players such as defensive ends Nathan Pickering and Charles Moore — and buck linebacker Derick Hall — all 4-star recruits. Five-star linebacker Nakobe Dean of Horn Lake (Miss.) also is a big target.
Here’s a look at where things stand for the Tigers with the 2019 class …
-Quarterback: With 4-star recruit Bo Nix of Pinson Valley (Ala.) on board, the Tigers probably are done at this position.
-Running back: Auburn has none committed and could take one or two. Noah Cain of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy is believed to be the top target.
-Tight end: With two on board, the Tigers are done.
-Receiver: With George Pickens and Ja'Varrius Johnson on board, Auburn still could add one or two more receivers to the class.
-Offensive line: Center Jakai Clark of Grayson (Ga.) is committed, leaving three or four spots to fill.
-Defensive line: Handy and Gordon are the two commits. The Tigers could add two or three more. Defensive end Colby Wooden of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer could be the closest to joining the class.
-Linebacker: With 5-star Owen Pappoe in the class, the Tigers would like to add two more backers.
-Cornerback: Auburn has two committed and could add up to two more.
-Safety: The Tigers don’t have any commits, but 4-star recruit Jashawn Sheffield of Simons Island (Ga.) Frederica Academy could be close to joining the class.

Think he was referring to both Gordon & Handy
KN says Handy was who he was talking about earlier & isn't aware of any other news coming today
Hopefully Sheffield makes OV this weekend & can add another this week

Finally another 4*! Good to see the 3* parade end.

OH dear God shut up!
It's not like we aren't perennially in the top 10 recruiting.

Fromm is rated a .8877. A 4* in 247 Composite is .8900. If he gets those .0023 pts does that all of a sudden make him a good prospect in your eyes?

Like Gordon I think Handy ends up at DT. Honestly we are nailing our recruiting this year everywhere except OT. I'm going to hope the strategy is just to get all these other commits and then release TWill, Garner, Porter and Woodson all out on the OT's.

I know little to nothing about recruiting, but it seems apparent to me that we were inevitably going to take a hit with OL recruiting this year considering the coaching changes. I’ll be worried if we aren’t getting guys we want the next two cycles.

I am already worried. We shite the bed last year in our OL recruits. This is a must year and I believe KN and other analysts have said the same thing too. Gus gets no excuses here.

If we get the tcu commit, Jones, and Putnam that’d be solid

One thing that is both good and bad is our key players at OT this year are all underclassmen so we should get them back next year, but we still can't afford to strike out on OT again this year.
