I hate to say it, but nothing about your guy, Malik, screams potential to me either. He’s got the speed but doesn’t have the feet or the arm of NM.
yea, I dont know that he can do it either. We probably will not get to see him with any meaningful reps with the right guys out there.
He has the look and the speed, just not sure the arm. And finding someone with Nicks calmness will be tough, no doubt.

You DO realize that teams have figured out the zone read, right? Like, it's literally dying in favor of the RPO based offenses.
Pruitt had Gus' offense figured out in 2013 in the NC game by the 2nd half and every defense in America followed suit. Set a wide contain by bringing extra pressure from the boundary from a corner/safety/star and allow for the read DE to crash on the RB.
I'm sure an adjustment could be made but, like I said, the zone read is pretty much dead and figured out. Gus is doing the right thing in going to more pro-style passers with the ability to run enough to keep the D honest, and putting them in an RPO based scheme.

Joey Gatewood will be that guy come next year. And Bo Nix is pretty darn mobile. I'm excited about the future QB situation

This year will be a great test for the argument for & against pro style passers in Gus's offense. Will be very interesting to see how offense performs this year, especially out the gate with Stidham back

No way Gatewood puts it all together in a year.

Gatewood would need an entire offense built from scratch around him. I don't think he can run a complex offense, like we'll likely see this year, or even like we saw last year at times.

Auburn commit Cordale Flott strengthens coaching bond
Auburn cornerback pledge Cordale Flott has visited the Tigers twice since committing on April 17. Each trip has made the Saraland (Ala.) cornerback feel stronger about his commitment than previous one. His most recent visit was last weekend — a weekend which also included the seventh commitment to the Tigers Class of 2019 and a 5-star visitor at Flott’s position.
His relationship with the Auburn staff has become more profound since his April 17 announcement, and he doubled down on his decision after his most recent visit.
“I feel like it was a great decision for me. I prayed about it and let the process handle itself. I got with my coaches and they make it feel like family to me,” Flott said. “They tell me to prepare and basically focus more on high school than the recruiting process. Be the best I can be for my high school.”
Other schools continue to chase Flott — such as Louisville, Texas A&M and Florida. If Flott were to visit anywhere else, he’d consider the Gators, but Flott is locked in to his Auburn pick.

Cordale Flott’s strongest Auburn bond with Marcus Woodson
A big reason for Flott’s steadfast commitment to Auburn? New defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson.
Flott is a true cover corner. Woodson also has been an ace recruiter early on in the 2019 cycle. Their bond has improved with every visit.
“He cares more, other than football, just about me personally as a man and student-athlete for Auburn coming here to get my degree. It’s not just to play football,” Flott said. “The time I spent with coaches, coach Woodson and coach [Kevin Steele], is the highlight.”
Flott spent some time with 5-star cornerback Andrew Booth during the visit. With Flott and 4-star athlete Jaylin Simpson already committed, Auburn is in search of at least one more elite cornerback in the 2019 class. There’s no better place to start than Booth.
Flott said it would “be great to have him” and that Booth told him he was “thinking highly” of Auburn.

Auburn remains contender for 5-star Georgia commit Jadon Haselwood (SECCountry)
That tidbit on trip to AU with Pappoe & Morris is very interesting. Think he's gonna be hard to flip just because he seems to really like idea of playing with Justin Fields. But if UGA's offense were to struggle some or at least in the passing game & Stidham lights things up, could get real interesting....
The UGA melt would be glorious

5-star Georgia WR commit comments on Auburn interest
If Auburn had its choice of any 2019 receiver to add to George Pickens, that wish list would start and end with Jadon Haselwood.
The 5-star Georgia commit would be the No. 1 receiver option for virtually every program in America. Take one look at his junior season film, and you’ll understand why that’s the case. Haselwood takes over every camp he attends, and dominance carries over to Friday nights. He has been committed to Georgia for a while, making him the centerpiece of what coach Kirby Smart hopes to be another top-3 recruiting class.
Auburn hopes it can steal another top target away from Georgia after winning the May 1 portion of the Owen Pappoe sweepstakes.
Haselwood has visited Auburn several times this spring. He last attended the Plains on a multi-day trip, a source confirmed, that coincided with the Pappoe and Wanya Morris trip before their commitment announcements.
Haselwood participated in an interview with my DawgNation colleague Jeff Sentell. In that, Haselwood mentioned his visits to Auburn. He also referenced a visit his mother took separately to the Plains to see it on her own. Her interests will be important in any chances another school has of flipping Haselwood.
“I like Auburn. I’m cool with Coach [Kodi] Burns and [Travis Williams]. They are cool. Cool people that I can relate to,” Haselwood told Sentell. “My mom liked Auburn. She liked Oklahoma, too. She’s going wherever I go.”
Haselwood mentions Oklahoma, and many see the Sooners as the most prominent threat to flip the nation’s No. 5 player.
Auburn feels as though it’s as much in the hunt to flip as Oklahoma, however. Haselwood has already taken an official visit to Oklahoma. He told Sentell it’s likely Auburn will receive one of those in the fall, as well.
His decision won’t be dictated by anyone else. It helps, though, that he has 7-on-7 friendships with Pickens and quarterback commit Bo Nix. Haselwood also has a close bond with Auburn commits Pappoe and Jaylin Simpson, as well as top athlete target Jashawn Sheffield. As a Georgia commit, he was doing his part to recruit Pappoe to Athens — and still will — but because of their relationship, Pappoe’s decision wasn’t something that came as a surprise to Haselwood.
“What I am going to say is that it didn’t surprise me,” he said. “But I’m happy for him. That’s where he should go. He probably will not have anybody ahead of him when he gets there. He’s got a good chance of playing and going to the league in three years.”

Down-the-line Louisiana cornerback to watch
Auburn sits in a solid position at cornerback in the 2019 class.
The Tigers already have commitments from Simpson and Cordale Flott, who were targeted early on in the cycle. They have other top targets such as Andrew Booth, Tyrique Stevenson and Marcus Banks who have been on campus in the last month. Devin Bush is another top cornerback prospect who falls into the must-take category. Zion Puckett of Georgia has been viewed by some as a wide receiver, but Auburn is pursuing him as a cornerback.
There are always contingency plans in recruiting, however.
One near the top of that list for Auburn, Greg Brooks from Harvey, La., said he has communicated with Tigers coaches and feels like an offer could come later in the process, depending on how their cornerback board shakes out.
“Auburn is probably one that said most about getting an offer. I had went up there for a visit. They said I’m one of the highest guys. They told me all that. They’re going to come down in the spring and should offer. I talk to coach [Marcus] Woodson three times a week,” Brooks told SEC Country. “
That fact that this kid is a down the line option for AU is a pretty good indication of how well DB recruiting is going this cycle

'We're going 4-0': 5-star Auburn commit makes bold Iron Bowl prediction (AL.com)
quote:
Auburn commit Owen Pappoe, a 5-star linebacker from suburban Atlanta, has another season of high school football to play, but he's already made an Iron Bowl prediction.
And it's a bold prediction.
"We're going to go 4-0 against them," Pappoe told FOX 5 Atlanta, a TV station, after making his commitment.
Alabama has won seven of the last 10 Iron Bowls, although Auburn won 26-14 last year. Alabama has shut out Auburn twice in the last decade.
Auburn hasn't won consecutive Iron Bowls since winning six straight from 2002-07.
Pappoe, the nation's No. 8 recruit from Grayson (Ga.) High in Loganville, Georgia, became the centerpiece of Auburn's 2019 clas when he committed to Auburn last week. The 6-foot, 209-pounder. known as "The Freak," picked Auburn over Georgia and Tennessee.

Three-Point Stance: Raiding Peach State, new coaches, top 1-2 punch (Rivals)

Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell’s thought-provoking Three-Point Stance is here taking a look at who raids the state of Georgia the most, the top five new head coaches on the recruiting trail and the best 1-2 punches in the 2019 class so far.

1. Raiding the state of Georgia
On Tuesday, I took a look at which teams raided the state of Texas from out of state because of Oklahoma’s amazing start in the Lone Star State this recruiting year. Now, with four big-time prospects from Grayson leaving Georgia, it’s time to take a look at who raids the Peach State. Here are the top five when it comes to stealing four- and five-stars from Georgia since 2013:
Auburn – Owen Pappoe is the latest and added to the lead Auburn has over the rest of the schools. The Tigers have landed 26 four- and five-stars from Georgia since 2013, including two in 2019 and one already for 2020. And there have been some big names such as Carl Lawson, Montravius Adams, Derrick Brown and others. If Georgia has a nemesis raiding its state, it’s Auburn.
South Carolina – The Gamecocks have made Georgia a priority for a long time but it’s still a bit surprising to see them so close to Auburn at No. 2. South Carolina has landed 21 four- or five-stars since 2013 including one in 2019. The Gamecocks don’t have the same level of star power as Auburn, but they’ve done an impressive job stealing some key players from Georgia.
Clemson – I expected Clemson to be higher on the list, but the Tigers have had some smaller classes and focus more on Florida than Auburn and South Carolina do. Clemson has landed 18 four- and five-stars but with guys such as Trevor Lawrence and others, they have hit some major home runs. They will continue to be a player in the Peach State for some of the top dogs.
Tennessee – Wanya Morris was a huge get for Tennessee last week and adds to its number of Peach State steals. There is quite a drop off from Clemson to Tennessee as the Vols have landed 11 four- or five-stars since 2013, but that could change under Jeremy Pruitt and his willingness to recruit the state.
Alabama – You’d think Alabama would be higher here and it could ramp up as the Tide already have three for the class of 2019. ‘Bama has landed nine four- or five-stars from the state of Georgia since 2013. The battle between Nick Saban and Kirby Smart could heat up and that number could climb.

I personally don’t think their defense figured us out. They had the horses to compete against us is the main thing. I think we also went conservative. Their nose tackle was blowing up all of our plays and the drive that he got tired is tbe drive that we took the lead.

3. Top 1-2 combos in 2019 so far
There is still a lot of time before we close the book on the 2019 recruiting class, but I figured we’d take a look in May at which programs have the best 1-2 punches for their class. At the top it’s easy:
Oklahoma – The combination of wide receivers Theo Wease and Arjei Henderson can’t be touched and if they remain as highly ranked as they are, I don’t think the duo will be challenged all year. This is an amazing 1-2 punch.
Georgia – Wide receiver Jadon Haselwood is an elite receiver, ranking between Wease and Henderson, and defensive end Nolan Smith is the next great hybrid to play in Athens. That’s the best offense-defense combination in the country.
Florida State – A close second when it comes to offense-defense is cornerback Akeem Dent and wide receiver Maurice Goolsby. We could look back in a few years and realize a bigger deal should have been made about this combination than truly was; that’s how high each player’s ceiling is.
Auburn – The only team with a quarterback in its 1-2 punch. Bo Nix highlights the offense while new commitment Owen Pappoe represents the defense. The best quarterback in the 2019 class and a possible Roquan Smith clone checks in at fourth? They could be higher.
Alabama – Shane Lee is one of the biggest surprise commitments of the class so far and an elite inside linebacker while offensive lineman Pierce Quick is an elite tackle prospect. Alabama had an off year by its standards in 2018 but the Tide are back in 2019.

Simmons: Stock up for five 2019 prospects (Rivals)

Rivals will be updating the class of 2019 rankings in the near future. After getting the opportunity to scout players in person at the Rivals 3 Stripe Camps presented by adidas, spring practices, school workouts and 7-on-7 tournaments, here are five players from Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi that you can expect to make significant moves.

George Pickens is a Rivals250 prospect, but the long receiver out of Hoover (Ala.) has out-played his ranking this spring. He is a nightmare match-up on the outside and when it comes to jump-balls — forget about it.
The Auburn commit is still planning to take visits, but he looks to be pretty solid to the Tigers. Florida State and Georgia are schools other than Auburn he has visited in 2018 and Michigan is a school he’s said that he would like to visit. The four-star talent is the No. 24 receiver in the country, but it is hard to see 23 better than him.

KN put up a recruiting insider yesterday here's summary
- Something interesting on 5* C Clay Webb. Says head coach he's closest to right now is Gus Malzahn. Claims that what a team does on field this year won't have affect on his recruitment, all about relationships
- AU might now be the team to beat for 2021 QB Brock Vandagriff who landed an AU offer yesterday. Good chance he's AU's top target now. His mom is an AU grad FWIW
- Tigers are still recruiting 3* TE Sean Brown hard. Tim Horton visited him this week & continue to tell Brown he's a priority. KN says not sure who is higher on the board but speculates it might be whomever commits first type of thing. Tennessee still the favorite
- Greg Brown visited 4* CB Kaiir Elam Thursday. Tigers still recruiting him hard despite being a UF lean. He's only visited AU once but KN says if he makes another trip could be something to watch. FWIW this is the kid whose dad is close with Brown. He's also related to Matt Elam
- Sounds like AU might now be recruiting 4* ATH Mark Antony-Richards as a RB. He started as a S/WR target but has said he wants to play RB at next level. Brown visited him last week & apparently Horton will watch him practice next week. He's Ahmmon Richards little bro but has visited AU a bunch & reached out to KN after he didn't include Richards in AU's dream class. AU probably #2 with UF right now

Another name to watch at CB is 4* Zion Puckett according to KN. He could also play WR but AU likes him more on defense. Kodi Burns & Marcus Woodson visited him this week. He's high on AU & says they would make his top 5. Says that AU, BAMA & TEN are recruiting him the hardest right now. Talks most with Woodson & has visited AU twice this spring
