It's a premium article, but anyone w/ a 247 account should read this:
Chip Lindsey's ability to get guys open
This was excellent. Breaks down different sets and how Auburn used and will use the short and intermediate pass game. Lindsey does a GREAT job of setting up big plays and using route combos/schemes to give QBs an easy read so that he can get rid of it quickly.

KN has article up on 2019 5* Jadon Haselwood who is committed to UGA and ranked the #6 player in country by 247. He tweeted out Monday that he got an offer from AU but apparently he already had one just didn't realize it... KN says that happens more than you realize, Chandler Wooten for the longest time didn't know he had an UGA offer. Despite all that he has interest in Auburn and plans to visit. He's considered pretty solid to Georgia but it's just under 2 years till his NSD so plenty can change

Can Auburn overtake Buckeyes, Urban Meyer, for top recruit? (247)
I listened to interview. He's pissed at Bama (even though has em in top group) because he couldn't make a visit one day, they pushed for him to come back so his mom took a day off work to make trip and then they told him that wasn't a good day. Seems like Bama has had more communication issues this year than in the past because of all the coaching turnover
As for Harris and AU it's going to have to take Ohio State passing or him hating his trip to have a shot. But sounds like Williams is trying hard. McClain and Harris would be a big time LB class
quote:
When he started chatting with Kristi Malzahn, wife of Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, during his most recent visit to Auburn, 4-star linebacker Michael Harris of Tucker (Ga.) got the feeling he was a special recruit to the Tigers.
“His wife said I had (Malzahn) doing the happy dance,” Harris said. “She said, I’m the only person that can make him do the happy dance.”
Landing Harris, a top target, won’t be easy for Auburn, but the Tigers are giving it their best shot.
Right now, Ohio State leads — and leads big. He grew up a fan of that program and when the Buckeyes offered, it was special.
But Harris couldn’t make it to that school as expected last weekend and isn’t sure exactly when he will get to Columbus, Ohio. That, it seems, would give the programs tied for No. 2 — Auburn and Georgia — more time to build a relationship with him.
As at stands, Harris already is closer with Auburn linebackers coach Travis Williams than any person recruiting, Harris said.
“He,” Harris said, “is like a father to me.
He also noted, “He’ll hit me up every day or any time he can. … I feel like I can hit him up whenever I want to or call him and he’ll answer. I feel like I’ve been building my relationship with him the best.”
Based on his conversations with Williams, Harris, the No. 11 inside backer in the 247Sports rankings, thinks he is high on the Auburn board.
“Coach Williams tells me every time I talk to him, I’m his guy,” Harris said. “I’m his No. 1. He wants me and Zakoby (McClain) from Valdosta in the middle. That’s his two main guys in the middle.”
Williams isn’t all Harris likes about Auburn. Something else stood out during his two recent visits there.
“Everybody is like family,” Harris said.

Someone asked KN (I think this was before Jackson offer) if he had to pick what WRs signed with AU who would he choose. Said Kolbi Fuqua, Justyn Ross and Matthew Hill

Auburn offers nephew of Bo Jackson (247)
So I wonder what happens if Jackson, Ross, Hill and Copeland all want to commit with Fuqua already on board. Do we take all 5, especially if the last two are Ross and Copeland? Curious to see what happens at this spot

As the nephew of Auburn great Bo Jackson, receiver Shedrick Jackson of Hoover (Ala.) has always wanted a Tigers offer.
On Thursday, he got his wish.
The 6-feet-1, 195-pound Jackson is a high 3-star in the 247Sports rankings. He's the No. 56 receiver nationally.
Jackson spoke via telephone Thursday afternoon first with Auburn offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, then with Tigers coach Gus Malzahn. It was Malzahn who gave him the offer.
"I was pretty excited," Jackson said. "He was just telling me how I did good at The Opening camp in Atlanta. He went back and watched the film. He said he wanted to offer me a scholarship and that he wanted me to be a Tiger."
Jackson immediately placed a call to his cousin Morgan, who is Bo Jackson's daughter. Then, he called his mother. Both were thrilled, he said.
"It's a great opportunity," Jackson said. "Now, I've got to work even harder."
While helping Hoover (Ala.) win a state championship, Jackson amassed more than 40 receptions for 600-plus yards.
Some highlights:
-Four catches in the state final.
-102 receiving yards vs. Phenix City (Ala) Central.
-Five receptions for 81 yards in the state semifinals.
-A 40-yard catch in a playoff win over Madison (Ala.) James Clemens.
-A 64-yard touchdown catch vs. Thompson (Ala.)
-Team-high 51 receiving yards vs. nationally ranked Allen (Tx.).
At this time, Jackson claims no leaders.
"I'm looking at them all the same," Jackson said.
Jackson said he "probably" will attend Auburn's Big Cat Weekend recruiting event June 3.
So I wonder what happens if Jackson, Ross, Hill and Copeland all want to commit with Fuqua already on board. Do we take all 5, especially if the last two are Ross and Copeland? Curious to see what happens at this spot

KN also has update on 3* CB Juanyeh Thomas. He is down a top a 3 of Auburn, Florida and Georgia Tech with a commitment coming pretty soon, possibly before his team's spring game on May 19th. Auburn is recruiting him as an athlete saying he could play either CB or S. Says he wants to start off at CB. He wanted to come for A-Day but had to take the ACT. Speaks multiple times a week with area recruiter Kodi Burns and DB coach Greg Brown. Says not leaning anywhere right now

Auburn safety target Jamien Sherwood says interest in Tigers is ‘beyond high’ (SECCountry)
quote:
Florida safety names Auburn among leaders
AUBURN, Ala. — When asked where Auburn falls on his college choice spectrum, Jamien Sherwood said the Tigers broke the gauge.
Sherwood, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety from Jensen Beach, Fla., received his Auburn offer at the beginning of last week. That caused him to change his visit plans from Tennessee to Auburn. He left the Florida spring game at halftime to make the four-hour trek for his first visit to the Plains.
What was his interest after the initial visit? High? Low? Medium?
“Beyond high,” Sherwood said.
Sherwood’s recruitment picked up momentum in recent months. He received offers from 19 schools, a list he hopes to trim to 8 or 10 by the time his Jensen Beach High spring schedule finishes on May 19. Auburn will “of course” be in that top group, he said.
Other programs to watch are in-state schools Florida, Florida State and Miami.
Aside from Auburn, those are the only three visits Sherwood has taken as a recruit. He will likely visit Oregon, Nebraska, Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina and Duke when he gets the chance. Sherwood also expects regular communicators LSU, Georgia Tech and Louisville to show heavier interest.
The Auburn visit secured the Tigers’ standing among Sherwood’s favorites.
“It’s a great place. I’ve only been to three places, but it’s a great place to be. I could see myself playing here,” Sherwood said. “They’ve got nice facilities and everything. Just like a couple of the other colleges, they have genuine people and they’re great to talk to and be around for such a long time of the day. I could be around them for four years.”
Sherwood, a 3-star safety, is the No. 27 prospect at his position in the 2018 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
He spent most of his Auburn visit alongside secondary coach Greg Brown. Sherwood also got 1-on-1 time with coach Gus Malzahn and defensive coordinator Kevin Steele. After watching the spring game and talking with coaches, Sherwood sees opportunity at safety for the Tigers.
“They’re saying how they have three seniors this year. After that, they don’t have many. They have a couple from 2017, but me coming here and the type of player I am, I see plenty of playing time,” Sherwood said.
He hopes to have a decision out of the way by August or September.
Sherwood will be back at Auburn in the near future. The staff talked about Big Cat Weekend on June 3, but he hopes to be able to make it back before that.

Top DT target outlines top schools
Coynis Miller knows Auburn as well as any recruit.
Former teammate and close friend Tadarian Moultry signed with the Tigers in February. Miller has been to Auburn a handful of times in 2017. I’ve written about Miller in notebooks multiple times in the past month, and here’s another example.
But he’s no lock to Auburn. In fact, Miller is not even a lock for Auburn or Alabama despite his many visits and high priority at both schools. Miller rarely tips his hand in any direction. He hadn’t listed top schools or even set a decision time.
Until Saturday.
For the first time, to my knowledge, Miller named the programs that are in contention for his services.
“My top would probably be Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia and Ole Miss,” Miller said. “I’m planning on visiting Florida in the summer.”
There aren’t any surprises there.
Those are the schools he visited, and they are relatively convenient to Birmingham, Ala., where he plays for Jackson-Olin. The general perception with Miller is he’ll end up at either of the Yellowhammer State SEC schools. Jackson-Olin coach Tim Vakakes told SEC Country in the fall that he isn’t 100 percent convinced that will happen.
“A lot of the schools that didn’t really recruit [Moultry] because they didn’t think they had a chance, they’re offering him. They knew [Moultry] was going to stay in state,” Vakakes said. “He wanted to go visit things, but it was going to be somewhere close.
“I could see Coynis going somewhere else.”

Auburn’s top receiver target takes Clemson visit
As it turns out, Justyn Ross isn’t always in Auburn.
It might seem that way, looking at the past two months of Ross recruiting visits. Ross was at Auburn three times in the past four weeks and six times since in 2017. He is a regular, and he’s Auburn’s most coveted recruiting target.
After all, he’s the No. 1 player in the state and the No. 4 receiver in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Given those numbers, Auburn isn’t alone in its desire to land Ross. Alabama is in there. So is Florida State, Georgia and, well, really any football program that passes the ball.
Count Clemson in that mix. And, judging by Ross’ reaction, the ACC Tigers passed the first test with flying colors.
He went to Clemson on Tuesday and called it “one of the best” visits he has taken. The defending national champions already have the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the nation committed.

Auburn defensive line target Caleb Tannor said three SEC schools are ‘coming real hard’ (SECCountry)
quote:
On-the-rise DE gem high on Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. — The Caleb Tannor sweepstakes look like it’s shaping up to be an old-fashioned SEC recruiting battle.
A quick look at Tannor’s rankings doesn’t portray the full story, at least if you look at the way some of the SEC’s top programs are recruiting him. The 6-foot-3, 223-pound defensive end from Miller Grove (Ga.) is listed as the No. 24 strong-side defensive end and No. 617 overall prospect in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
That doesn’t do Tannor justice.
Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee have offered him since March 18. The first three programs in that group have received visits from Tannor since that time. He plans to visit Tennessee on Thursday.
But something separates Auburn from that group: He has visited the Plains twice in that span.
“I like it. I like it a lot. … It’s going to be a hard decision,” Tannor said.
Tannor, despite his humble ranking, has become a high priority for all.
Auburn wanted him on campus for its spring game, and the Tigers staff kept him around until the late evening before Tannor finally left his unofficial visit. He hasn’t sifted through his future visit schedule too in-depth — he hopes a trip to Columbus, Ohio, for an offer is in store — just yet, but return visits to Tuscaloosa and Athens should be expected.
Tanner said a decision “could happen” before the start of his senior season, but he hasn’t ruled out an elongated recruitment.
Part of the reason for the wait: “I know others are going to come,” Tannor said.
Florida and LSU are the two, in particular, that he thinks could be landscape-changing offers. The Gators and the Tigers have communicated regularly, but he still hasn’t picked up offers from them. Tannor cited LSU specifically as a program he’s “always liked.”
Tannor hasn’t narrowed his options completely yet. A top-10 list is imminent, he said.
But the big three — Auburn, Alabama and Georgia — received the most of his talking-point attention.
Does that mean those three programs have an advantage so far?
“Yeah, you can say that,” Tannor said. “Auburn, UGA and Bama are coming real hard.”
If Auburn has an edge, it’s the same thing the Tigers have with every defensive line recruit: Rodney Garner.
Tannor paid special attention to Marlon Davidson and Paul James III during his last two scrimmage visits, including A-Day. He said conversations for him with Garner haven’t explicitly specified the Buck defensive end spot versus the strong-side position, but Tannor thinks he has the skill set to do both.
Garner’s message on playing time has been reassuring to Tannor.
“I like him. He says, if I come prepared to play, he’s going to play me as a freshman,” Tannor said. “So I’m just going to try to see what I can do if I come in here ready to play.”

Latest updates on 2017 signees
As much as A-Day was a time for Auburn’s 2018 and 2019 targets to take in Jordan-Hare Stadium, it also gave many members of the Tigers’ 2017 class to reunite on campus just a month shy of their arrival date. The non-early enrollee members of the 2017 cycle will, with a few exceptions, arrive on campus May 28.
From there, the life as a collegiate student-athlete begins.
The final moments of their high school careers are beginning to fade. Here are all the latest updates on every 2017 signee SEC Country spotted (and talked to) at the spring game.

5-star OL Calvin Ashley: Auburn’s highest-rated commitment has been on campus back-to-back weekends. Two weekends ago for a parents weekend event. Most recently for A-Day. He is back in school in Orlando, where he was originally from before transferring to St. John’s College in Washington, D.C.

4-star LB Tadarian Moultry: Moultry also has been on campus recently, joining Coynis Miller for his last two visits. Moultry continues to take a hands-off approach to Miller’s recruitment, but he’s eager to get on campus to throw his name in the hat among talented Auburn linebackers and potential Buck pass-rushing options.
Curious if we start him at Buck or LB with Bryant also coming in. Personally I think he would shine at the Buck
