Texas Tech transfer is visiting Auburn
KN says that Stidham has been recruiting him to AU. They were both Texas Tech commits at one point in time. That DT wants to play in the SEC and KN says Auburn, Georgia, LSU & Ole Miss are all after him. Louisville is also in the conversation. Would be a nice boost to the DT rotation in 2018 for sure

OP updated with new 247 rankings and I reordered the defensive board to seperate SDE & Buck targets. Also added some names based off KN's recent target updates and removed Lingard after commit. Will add back if he ever visits again. Also updated the class ranks and made them link over to sites
I am sure now that I have done all that the other sites will drop updates today

After beating cancer, Brodarious Hamm, Tashawn Manning looking forward to Auburn spring practice (SECCountry)
quote:
Hamm, who was a 3-star prospect along with Manning, said he is ready to get back to football after going through the toughest battle of his young life.
“Treatment was tough, but I felt like I had to be strong for others around me rather than for myself, because I had a lot of people looking up to me,” Hamm said. “I wasn’t about to let cancer beat me.”
Hamm won, and he’ll look to pick up wins on the gridiron soon with Manning as full-time members of the Auburn football program.
In terms of eligibility, Hamm will serve as somewhat of a fourth 2017 signee on Auburn’s offensive line after sitting out 2016 to battle cancer. He joins a loaded class that includes 5-star prospect Calvin Ashley and 4-star prospects Austin Troxell and Nick Brahms.
“We got three guys that are very, very talented guys and Brodarious is another talented guy that will be with this class,” Malzahn said. “I’m really looking forward to him participating in the spring and expect him to be ready to go.”
On the other side of the ball, Manning says he’s not at 100 percent in terms of shape just yet. But he’s excited to compete for playing time on the interior of Rodney Garner’s defensive line.
“I’m really looking forward to that day, to getting to put on pads and get to hit again,” Manning said.
The return to the practice field will be a huge milestone for Hamm and Manning — and they both said they weren’t able to do it alone.
“The Auburn fan base, the coaches, the players, and just my mom and dad and everybody that was around me was just so supportive of everything I was going through,” Manning said. “And I really just want to thank the Auburn family, my family, my high school and everybody just for all the support.”

Top-50 prospects to watch for Auburn in 2018 recruiting class (SECCountry)
quote:
4-star WR Justyn Ross, Central (Phenix City, Ala.)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds
Ranking: No. 4 wide receiver, No. 31 overall, No. 1 in Alabama
Commitment status: Uncommitted
Scoop: This will be a classic Auburn-Alabama contest. Ross is from Auburn’s backyard, and the Tigers generally have success at Central High. With that said, the most recent top prospect from there — Markail Benton — chose Alabama over Auburn, which created quite a stir during the 2017 cycle. Ross’ decision is believed to be tied somewhat to Benton’s. The Crimson Tide appear to have a slight edge, but Ross has a strong relationship with Auburn receivers coach Kodi Burns. Ross has been on the Plains a handful of times since the start of the 2016 season. He’s an in-state guy who will likely stay in-state. Auburn or Alabama?
quote:
4-star QB Justin Fields, Harrison (Kennesaw, Ga.)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds
Ranking: No. 3 dual-threat quarterback, No. 33 overall, No. 4 in Georgia
Commitment status: Penn State commit
Scoop: The only committed prospect provided might seem like a little bit of a conundrum on this list. Fields committed to Penn State on Dec. 1, which theoretically took Fields off the market for good. That’s not a 100 percent guarantee, and it’s almost certain Auburn and others will chase Fields non-stop. Georgia and Clemson were deep in the Trevor Lawrence race when Fields announced. Auburn already had a commitment from another top dual-threat quarterback commitment Joey Gatewood when Fields announced. The only way Auburn needs to re-emerge for Fields is if Gatewood’s commitment status changes. But Fields is clearly the best dual-threat quarterback within a two-hour radius of Auburn.
quote:
4-star OT/DE Richard Gouriage, Cambridge Christian (Tampa, Fla.)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds
Ranking: No. 4 offensive tackle, No. 41 overall, No. 9 in Florida
Commitment status: Uncommitted
Scoop: When Gouriage is mentioned, he’s often floated as a Clemson, Florida State or Florida target. The Gators especially appear to be in prime position to land the in-state prospect who likely projects as an offensive lineman at the next level. Gouriage hails from Tampa, where Auburn has found success in the previous two recruiting classes with Nate Craig-Myers and Devan Barrett. Gouraige’s two primary recruiters at Auburn are Tim Horton and Rodney Garner, so he couldn’t have a better tandem on the Auburn coaching staff to court him. Never count out Horton or Garner, so Auburn has the chance to come from behind here.
quote:
4-star OG Trey Hill, Houston County (Warner Robins, Ga.)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds
Ranking: No. 2 offensive guard, No. 43 overall, No. 5 in Georgia
Commitment status: Uncommitted
Scoop: His full name is Deontrey, but you can just call him Trey. Auburn fans hope they’ll be calling him a Tiger eventually. Hill is one of the top offensive linemen in the 2018 class, and that’s a position group Herb Hand scored well with in the 2017 class. Auburn appears to be in solid shape. Hill told Keith Niebuhr of 247Sports earlier in the week that Auburn is in a “pretty good spot” to land him, or at a minimum, get him on campus in the coming weeks and months. Hill also spoke highly of Hand, saying that he’s just “a great guy to be around.” That’s all positive news for the Tigers.
quote:
4-star OLB JJ Peterson, Colquitt County (Moultrie, Ga.)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds
Ranking: No. 2 outside linebacker, No. 50 overall, No. 6 in Georgia
Commitment status: Uncommitted
Scoop: Last but not least will be one of Travis Williams’ top targets in the 2017 class. Peterson plays for Rush Prospt at Georgia state power Colquitt County. Auburn has familiarity with Prospt, as evidenced by Chip Lindsey’s ability to secure a commitment from tight end John Samuel Shenker late in the 2017 cycle. Now it’ll be interesting to see how Auburn fares recruiting defensive players from Propst’s roster. Peterson is one of the most impressive linebackers and pass-rushers in the 2018 class. Williams succeeded in evaluating the linebackers he wanted in 2017 and going out to get them. Peterson will be one of those targets in 2018.

The latest on Auburn commit Daquan Newkirk's recruitment (AL.com)
quote:
Following the departure of Auburn assistant coach Scott Fountain, Daquan Newkirk remains committed to the Tigers but is eager to see how things unfold with Fountain's successor.
"I'm still solid," the speedy defensive end told AL.com. "Nothing has changed right now, but I will see down the road. Whoever is going to be filling those shoes, I hope they do the same thing Fountain did."
Earlier this week it was revealed that Fountain, Auburn's special teams and tight ends coach, would not return to his post next season. It's unclear whether he will remain with the staff in an off-the-field role.
Newkirk, the No. 3 overall junior college prospect according to 247Sports, said Fountain was one of the main reasons he committed to Auburn.
"Coach Fountain's been there through it all," the defensive end said. "Through the ups and downs he'd text me and stuff... When he found out my senior year that I was having some (academic) problems he took a visit down and we had lunch and we talked. He always communicated with me. He was one of the key factors of why I'm still loyal to Auburn.
"With him leaving, I don't know. I don't know who's going to take his place, but hopefully they take on the role he did. Rodney (Garner) talks to me here and there, but Coach Fountain talked with me the most and knew more than the other coaches because we talked about personal things in life."

Auburn, Tennessee among those vying for 2019 Georgia OT Keiondre Jones (Rivals)
quote:
On Auburn: “I visited for a game their in the fall and it was fun. They had a ton of fans there and they were really into the game. I love it. I got there late so I didn’t get to talk to the coaches a lot beforehand but it was a really good atmosphere and I had a really good time.”

Larry Porter to Auburn 'a big deal' in recruiting world (AL.com)
quote:
Auburn has landed one of the nation's top recruiters in Larry Porter.
After serving as North Carolina's running backs and tight ends coach for the past three seasons, Porter was hired by Auburn Saturday.
Rivals.com named Porter its National Recruiter of the Year twice -- in 2007 and 2009 while he was LSU's running backs coach.
"He has a real good sense of not only recruiting in the Southeast, but he also relates really well to kids," said Mike Farrell, the National Recruiting Director for Rivals. "Even though he's been around for a long time and there's a lot of younger recruiters out there than Larry, he's a very, very relatable person. He's good in living rooms and I think he's a really good addition as far as a recruiter for Auburn.
"I saw that hire and I was like, 'That's a big deal.'"
Porter will immediately boost Auburn's recruiting efforts in Louisiana, where the Tigers have struggled to land top prospects in recent years. South Florida is considered another one of his top areas in addition to Memphis, where he served as head coach from 2010-2011.

Anybody know anything about our recruitment of him?
Taught him in Grade School, maybe I can try out my bagman skillz again after failing with Rochester.

Haven't been able to find anything either way on that. I also don't know if Stanley Garner is related to Rodney Garner either

Well we have a 4* QB already committed and Fields committed to Penn State. I suspect that if Gatewood decommits he would be one of the top names on our list
