DE/DT -- Daquan Newkirk, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
The No. 1 junior college defensive end in the country, Newkirk committed to Auburn in high school and hasn't wavered. He hopes to enroll next January and will have three years to play three seasons.

DT -- Coynis Miller, Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin
This is one we go back and forth with. Miller likes Auburn a lot. The Tigers offered early and have had him on campus the most -- including two weeks ago and again for A-Day. However, he grew up an Alabama fan. It really could go either way. Right now, the level of confidence is higher in Tuscaloosa than in Auburn from the sound of things -- but when you look at the list of offered tackles, Miller is one of the those Auburn has the best shot with.

DE -- Caleb Tannor, Lithonia (Ga.) Miller Grove
Follow the visits. Tannor has visited Auburn three times in the past three weeks and the Tigers certainly seem to be trending up. They have Tannor toward the top of the board.

LB -- Quay Walker, Cordele (Ga.) Crisp County
Auburn hopes it can land a 4-star recruit for the second straight year from Crisp County. In February, the Tigers signed buck Markaviest Bryant. Now, the Tigers are in contention with Walker, along with Alabama, FSU and Georgia.

LB -- Zakoby McClain, Valdosta (Ga.)
The 4-star recruit recently named Auburn his leader -- and that was after his only visit thus far to the school. Look for him to make a return trip soon. McClain could have a decision before his senior season begins.

CB -- Jalyn Armour-Davis, Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul's Episcopal
Auburn and FSU are thought by many to be the top school for the top-100 recruit. The Tigers got involved with his recruitment early and that has paid off. Recently, he made a three-day visit to Auburn, another plus for the Tigers. But FSU appears to be very much in contention and can't counted out. It's a battle.
I am a little nervous about Armour-Davis thought he would have popped by now considering him saying his decision was soon. Need to get him back on campus

CB -- Jordan Miner, Wiregrass Ranch (Fla.)
It's shaping up to potentially be an Auburn-Florida tussle for the 4-star from the Tampa Bay area. This one could drag out as it sounds like Miner will take all five official visits. A good season could give Auburn a boost.

quote:
CB/S -- Juanyeh Thomas, Niceville (Fla.)
The 3-star recruit has the abilty to see his rating rise. He's 6-feet-2, 192 pounds and has the potential to play multiple spots in the secondary. Thomas recently visited the Tigers and Auburn is very much in the thick of things..

S -- Quindarious Monday, Atlanta (Ga.) Carver
Auburn leads for the 4-star safety from Georgia -- who happens to play on Cam Newtons 7-on-7 team.

Now for the fun part ...
Based on this way-too-early projection, what might Auburn's class be ranked on National Signing Day 2018?
Well, in this article, we have Auburn landing 22 recruits including 14 players with 4-star rankings or better.
Using the class calculator, after plugging in all of the aforementioned recruits ... based on current player ratings Auburn would finish with 266.15 points.
In 2017, that would have been good enough for No. 9 in the rankings. Auburn was No. 9 that cycle with 255.97 points.

Jackson-Olin DL Coynis Miller seeing more of Auburn, Alabama (AL.com)
So while Benton is talking Ross's ear off, Moultry is playing it cool... Hopefully that strategy works because I am gonna be pissed if we miss on both of these guys
quote:
Coynis Miller is making his case to be the state's top defensive prospect, and the Jackson-Olin defensive end has spent plenty of time at Auburn and Alabama lately.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Miller was at Auburn's A-Day game on Saturday. During his spring break, he spent three nights at Auburn and attended practice at Alabama.
Miller said he was pleased to see Auburn's defense "getting after it" during A-Day, and is working on building relationships with all of Auburn's coaches, not just defensive line coach Rodney Garner.
"Just the coaches and the players, they're down to earth," Miller said. "They treat me like family.
"One thing that (stood out during the 3-day trip), (head) Coach (Gus) Malzahn came and got me and put me on the field right behind him. I got to see the plays up close, seeing how they're supposed to go and execute it."
Miller also saw Alabama practice, and plans to be at Alabama's A-Day game on April 22. After that, he plans to just "chill for a while" before Jackson-Olin starts spring practice.
"Just the intensity of their practices (stood out), just moving around, being where they're supposed to be," Miller said of Alabama.
Miller was asked Saturday in a group interview setting which defensive linemen he looks at as a possible model for his game.
"I like to look at (Alabama's) Da'Ron Payne," Miller said. "He's a leader who puts the team in the right position I try to look at him. I look at other people like (Alabama's) Quinnen Williams."
When asked which Auburn players he looks at, he said, "I like to look at Derrick Brown. When I go off to college, we'll be playing the same position. I look at Marlon Davidson. I just like the way he plays."
Miller was an Alabama fan growing up, but is focused on making the right business decision for college. His friend and teammate T.D. Moultry signed with Auburn in February and was at the spring game.
"He probably wants me to come play (with him at Auburn), but he hasn't said anything," Miller said. "When me and him talk, it's just normal conversation."
Miller said right now, his top schools include Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia and probably Ole Miss, but in no order. He's planning on visiting Florida this summer.
Moultry committed to Auburn in May of last year, but Miller said he'll wait until after the season.
So while Benton is talking Ross's ear off, Moultry is playing it cool... Hopefully that strategy works because I am gonna be pissed if we miss on both of these guys

And not for the better.
What happened with Jenkins, did we back off?
Posted on 4/11/17 at 7:22 am to RandySavage
My guess is he didn't? list Jenkins since he's projected as guard and we already have two on board. Expectation is we take two tackles to finish OL
Posted on 4/11/17 at 8:54 am to TigerPaw1
So I guess we have Stutts and Irvin rated higher than Jenkins on our board?
Can any of them play center?
Can any of them play center?

Again this is all guesses on my part and can change but staff probably had them all rated around same and it was first come, first serve.
Irvin can play center
We might still pursue Tank there really isn't much info out on him but that's my best guess behind KNs reasoning

FWIW I think Stutts is best of the 3 but I am far from talent expert. I would like to take Jenkins if possible but I am happy with 2 guys we got. Not sold on Wonnum being a tackle tho. I suspect some more names will pop up at that spot if Barnes and Gouraige go elsewhere
