Kearis Jackson, WR, Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County: A compactly built 5-feet-11.5, 203-pound receiver, Jackson arguably was the most impressive receiver on hand — and earned an Under Armour All-America Game invite with his performance. We were most impressed with his ball get-off, his ability to separate out of a break and his concentration when the ball approached.
My 2nd favorite WR this class

Asa Martin, RB, Decatur (Ala.) Austin: One thing has become clear the past two weeks: There aren’t many (if any) running backs in the country who catch the ball out of the backfield as well as Martin. He looks as natural doing that as taking handoffs.

Tae Provens, RB, Madison County (Ala.): Like Martin, Provens best trait might be his versatility. He is excellent in the open field, particularly because of his dangerous one-cut ability.

Bo Nix, QB, Pinson Valley (Ala.): Deep throws, intermediate ones, short passes, throwing with his body or against, or on the move, Nix’s passes almost always end up being where they need to be. His accuracy set him apart Sunday.

Josh Vann, WR, Tucker (Ga.): Vann really is a receivers receiver. That is to say, it’s obvious he works hard on the craft — namely his routes, which are crisp and fluid. He always seems to be exactly in the right spot, which makes life easier on the quarterback.

quote:
Clay Webb, OG/C, Oxford (Ala.): Webb, a 2019 recruit, continues to flat-out dominate people during the camp circuit. He’s both fast and physical from the interior and uses his strength and leverage (he’s also a solid wrestler) to look into a defender. Combine that with high-level lateral movement and you get the complete package.

EYE-CATCHERS ON DEFENSE
Jordan Davis, DE, Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind: Davis earned an Under Armour All-America Game invitation with his play, which was, quite frankly, ridiculously good. Not only did the 6-feet-5, 238-pound Davis explode off the ball, but he used his hands well and had solid re-directs to make the opposition look a step slow.

quote:
Greg Emerson, DT, Jackson (Tenn.) North Side: Nobody was more effective on the interior than the 6-feet-3 296-pound Emerson. He blasted his way past offensive linemen with an explosive first step and strong hands, which he used to throw aside the opposition.

Jaycee Horn, CB, Alpharetta (Ga): The emerging 3-star recruit showed why he’s picking up offers from major programs almost daily. His speed, quickness and hips put him in the right spot a lot.

Richard Jibunor, LB/DE, Athens Christian: The 4-star recruit lined up at defensive end a week earlier, but on Sunday worked with the linebackers and at safety in one-on-ones, showing off his freaky athleticism. He has elite quickness off the ball.
Dude could play five different positions in college

quote:
Zakoby McClain, LB Valdosta (Ga.): There might not be a linebacker in the South who moves as well — and with as much ease — as McClain. That was evident in one-on-ones with the running backs, when he effortlessly stuck to them during their routes and made completing passes next to impossible.
Recently named AU is his big leader

Azeez Ojulari, DE, Marietta (Ga.): It’s not hard to see why his stock if rising fast; Ojulari has a lightning-quick first step and impressive change of direction.

Myles Sims, CB/S, Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake: Sims, a 4-star recruit and Michigan lean, ran hot and cold a week earlier at The Opening Atlanta Regional, but Sunday he was locked in. Aggressive and physical in coverage, he also utilized his great length to break up passes.

Chris Smith, CB, Hapeville (Ga.) Charter: Not the biggest corner, but has long arms, is fast, has great hips and tremendous focus. He’s alert and always seems to know where the ball is — and that allowed him to break up several passes.

Auburn targets 4-star QB Gerry Bohanon, who says he ‘loves’ Tigers after third visit to Plains (SECCountry)

New dual-threat quarterback visits
AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn has emerged as a key player for 4-star prospect Gerry Bohanon.
Bohanon made a multi-day visit to the Plains over the weekend, which was his third time on campus in the last three years. The other two visits were for camps, so the early Saturday-to-Sunday visit allowed Bohanon to receive the full Auburn experience.
It included a scrimmage and talks with coaches.
Related to Bohanon, the immediate question is: What position does Auburn see him playing? Bohanon’s answer is clear:
“They want me to come and play quarterback because I can run the style of offense they run because I can throw, sit back in the pocket. And also, I can make a play happen if the play breaks down,” Bohanon said. “They allow the quarterbacks to make a lot of decisions on their own. They let them sit back there and throw it and they also put in some zone reads for me to be able to take off and run the ball and make a decision to put the team in the best situation possible.”
At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Bohanon looks the part of a college quarterback. He also has a skill set to do more than that. Despite the continued evaluation, Bohanon said all but one school — his home state of Arkansas — is recruiting him as a quarterback. The Razorbacks have been “indecisive,” he said, and haven’t finalized what position they’d want him to play.
According to Bohanon, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Memphis are also schools who want him as a quarterback. It’s Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and LSU that are recruiting Bohanon the hardest, he said.
Bohanon’s addition to the quarterback fold is an intriguing one. Joey Gatewood is the prized possession of Auburn’s 2018 class so far. Bohanon knows what it would mean to join this Auburn class at the position.
That competition is part of the allure.
“They’re saying they’re taking two. I know they’ve got Joey Gatewood committed. … I don’t know him, but I know of him,” Bohanon said. “It really don’t matter. The best one is going to win the job. I just want to compete. I want my opportunity to play.”
Gatewood is listed as an athlete on the 247Sports composite rankings. Bohanon is the No. 11 dual-threat quarterback.
Bohanon doesn’t have an official list of top schools yet, but the Tigers are there. They have recruited him harder than most others and the most recent visit helped do the trick.
“I love it. Auburn is nice. It’s a small city, somewhere like where I’m from. It’s very family-oriented here. I just love the campus,” Bohanon said. “I’ll be back.”
Bohanon will visit Tennessee this upcoming weekend. He also will travel to LSU later this month.
Those are his only planned visits in the near future.

Recap of weekend visitors
Auburn treated its most recent recruiting weekend as if it were a junior day. One week prior to the A-Day spring game, the Tigers hosted a crop of impressive, young talent for the program’s second private scrimmage.
There were so many top prospects on campus from Thursday to Sunday that SEC Country — along with attending an Under Armour camp in Atlanta — wasn’t able to snag interviews with everyone.
Here are some of the top prospects who visited over the weekend:
4-star QB Gerry Bohanon
4-star OLB Zakoby McClain
3-star DE Andres Fox
2019 TE Ryland Goede
4-star TE Tyneil Hopper
2019 WR Dominick Blaylock
4-star OL Richard Gouraige
4-star WR Justyn Ross
FSU grad transfer Wilson Bell
4-star CB Christian Tutt
2019 DB Jalen Alexander
Keep in mind this wasn’t a pre-planned junior day, so to speak. It just turned into a star-studded visitors list. That shows some momentum Auburn is beginning to pick up on the recruiting trail. The Tigers are setting up for a strong class, as long as they can set a solid base this summer and add to it with success in the fall.
Much of that momentum will begin next Saturday for A-Day. Stay tuned for a full A-Day recruiting preview later in the week.

Alabama takeover of Atlanta camp
The emcee at the Under Armour All-America camp in Atlanta on Sunday shouted a familiar phrase throughout the camp: “Georgia boys!”
It wasn’t the Peach State products who had the final say during the post-camp ceremonies, however. The state of Alabama had a strong presence in both the Future 50 invitations, the Under Armour All-America Game invitations and the camp awards.
All three Future 50 invitees are from Alabama. Auburn is heavily in the mix for all three 2019 prospects: quarterback Bo Nix, offensive lineman Clay Webb and offensive lineman Pierce Quick. Nix, the son of Auburn great Patrick Nix, will consider Auburn throughout his process but is taking his time. Webb went to high school with KJ Britt and will end up at either in-state school. Quick goes to Hewitt-Trussville and has teammate/signee Noah Igbinoghene in his ear.
There was a Big Man Challenge, which measured strength and agility by offensive and defensive linemen at the camp. Alfred Thomas from Lanier (Ala.), who grew up an Auburn fan, won the competition. He released a top 6 on Sunday that didn’t include Auburn, but he has told SEC Country an offer from the Tigers could rearrange the list.

Auburn’s biggest recruiting takeaways from another busy weekend (SECCountry)
quote:
Auburn is on a hot streak when it comes to busy recruiting weekends.
The Tigers had plenty of information come out of the first scrimmage week (plus my trip to Atlanta for The Opening regional). This last weekend was more of the same with an impressive group of talent viewing the team’s second scrimmage, to go along with more information from the Under Armour All-America camp in Atlanta.
The past two-week stretch all sets up for another huge upcoming weekend with A-Day. Of note, however: Next Saturday is a big ACT date, so there will be guys who Auburn expected to be on campus for the spring game that might not be able to make it or will be late arrivals. For that reason, I’ll hold off on a visitors list until later in the week when it’s more set in stone.
Still, there were plenty of takeaways from the past weekend.
Here we go.

4-star LB Zakoby McClain named Auburn his leader. His decision could be coming soon. McClain looked great at the Under Armour camp in Atlanta on Sunday, too. As a smaller linebacker, there’s a lot of Travis Williams, the player, in McClain’s game.
