Wolk reporting Langham to visit AU this weekend instead of Tennessee

Malik Langham knows where he’ll take his final official visit.
The 4-star defensive lineman from Huntsville, Ala., initially scheduled Tennessee for his final official visit weekend. Instead, Langham will now head to Auburn this upcoming weekend for his fifth official visit, he told SEC Country. He doesn’t plan to take a visit to Tennessee anymore.
Langham’s recruitment has picked up nationally, and rapidly, in recent months. He saw a major bump in the latest recruiting re-rankings. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive end picked up offers from Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Oregon and Miami. He took his first four official visits to Vanderbilt, Alabama, Florida and Notre Dame.
Auburn didn’t offer until Jan. 19. Within the next week, Langham named Auburn his leader and Gus Malzahn went to see Langham on an in-home visit. At the time, it wasn’t certain Langham would take an official visit to the Plains, or even consider an unofficial visit if he were to go to Tennessee instead.
Auburn circumvented that issue by securing Langham’s final official visit.
Despite the late interest, it’s worth noting Langham grew up in an Auburn household. Langham’s deep into his decision process by this point, but it’s clear Malzahn’s in-home visit made an impression.
It also won’t be his first time on campus. He attended an Auburn junior day in the spring.
“It was a really good trip. They invited me, and I definitely felt like I had to come see it,” Langham said at the time. “I like the family atmosphere, and it’s just a good coaching staff.”
Langham’s decision to take his last official visit to Auburn comes before the staff makes an in-home visit.
Malzahn has already used his one visit to see Langham, but Kevin Steele, Rodney Garner and Tim Horton are expected to go see the 4-star defensive end Wednesday.

Bama offered Alaimo tonight
Bama recruiting seems to have eased back into normal top team territory this year. I know this georgia thing is hurting us, but could it be hurting bama more? Screw Georgia, but could Bama's pain = Auburn's gain?

Not sure if it's hurting Bama more or not but this cycle I think they finally felt a bit of the huge coaching turnover. Part of reason we won for Miller is his lead recruiter Cristobal left for Oregon & there was period of time no one at Bama was talking to him. Meanwhile Garner was there whole time. That happened in some other places as well
With that said they are still a machine. Stole Jalyn Armour-Davis from us, stealing Justyn Ross from Clemson, possible stealing Surtain from LSU & making a serious push for Nicholas Petit-Frere. Not to mention basically all the top remaining CBs are giving them a serious look. At worst they will be #3 this year. Not sure if it's "normal top team" or not honestly tho they are for the first time not clearly dominating so that's something
2019 will be interesting. If they don't reclaim the #1 spot again then ya might say they have taken a slight step back. Still insane recruiting but just not get whomever we want good. I have my doubts tho. I think they take #1 again next year

Something interesting is Langham made this decision without AU visiting him yet this week. AU going in home Wednesday. Really think we got a shot at pulling this off

Can you get your balls on more than one wall without standing in the corner?

247's John Garcia thinks Langham might end up a coin flip. Says that he thought recruitment was over after Bama visit but fact AU is getting him on campus is big.

Gus told Hand to look around but wasn't going to make a change til after NSD. Conflicting info on whether AU or Texas leaked it.
I know Hand is a likeable guy and all but eventually his track record of being mediocre or less has to catch up with him right? How is he landing these jobs?

Would we take Langham and Tanner? I hope yes
Yep. Then we'd likely try and get that last spot to Gouraige.

We have essentially been eliminated by the #7 OT in the country because we lost Hand.
