Nugget from Hunter FWIW. He'd put AU getting Ross at 10% with an arrow going down. Says it stings because he's in AU's back yard & he has an insanely high ceiling. Said Shed, Matt Hill, & Seth are all better football players right now though.

Shedrick Jackson is not better than Ross right now. I could MAYBE see the other two tho I disagree. Ross to me is a top 50 player and best player in the state

Well he is a football coach so chances are he has a better eye for that stuff than most of us on the board. Plus he's seen a lot more of these kids than their glossy Hudl highlights which are the only way most of us get to see the kids.

And FWIW Hunter is not the first coach I have seen to have concerns about the player Justyn Ross is right now.

FWIW Mike chimed in on Ross in another thread. He had previously said AU led but didn't feel overly confident in that. He now says it's not over but Bama leads & Ross is listening to them.

He's also an AU fan and I think he's letting some homerism slip through

True but I have actually seen both play live in a full game. In my own personal opinion Ross is better player now than shedrick and has a higher ceiling. I love Shedrick too but Ross is on another level which is why Bama, Clemson and AU are after him so hard

I don't think he's a finished product either and there's obviously things he needs to improve especially effort as a run blocker. But all of a sudden we are trending down for Ross and now all the guys we are trending up for are better? I dont buy it

Plus I trust SEC coaches over us. If Bama, Clem, AU and FSU all have made you a top priority. You can play

Most fair points and thank you for not taking my rebuttal personally.

I don't understand the AU homerism comment though. Can you clarify what you mean there? FTR he had the concerns on Ross as a current player long before he felt Ross was a near lock to not come to AU.

I mean at end of day no one knows definitively what's gonna happen so no point getting to worked up about it. I just disagree with his opinion. Nothing personal about it

Just meant him saying Shedrick Jackson is better player than Ross came off as being an AU homer because Jackson is committed to AU and he thinks Ross is trending away. We all do it. Look at guys committed or trending to AU more positively than guys going the other way. Nature of fandom

Fair enough. I honestly could be convinced about Williams or Hill. I think all 3 of those guys have NFL potential. I just personally believe Ross is best of the bunch

Yeah. When I brings post over from other places I type it as gospel or giving the appearance I think it's Gospel. That's not the case & I gotta be more careful about that.

On Shedrick & Ross I don't know that I'd say Shed is better than Ross but he does do some things better. He's a grinder that will do all the little things that helps win games. He's a better blocker, he doesn't take plays off like Ross does occassioally, he runs better routes, and may have better hands too. With that said I don't think Shed has the explosive ability Ross has.

Complaining about Rodney Garner is the epitome of looking a Gift Horse in the mouth.

You gotta decide what is more important. Give me a DL that is stout against the run, and has good, if not great edge rushing, over a DL like we have had in the past. They could rush the passer, but never had a chance to because we never had anyone 3rd and long, because we gave up 6-8 yards up the gut on 1st down.

Rush defense has improved most to better linebacker play. Sorry arse Kris Frost or Jake Holland are not out there missing tackles

Well, no doubt that matters. But please spare me your overlooking the DT play against the run.

Wright, Blackson etc. all owe RG a Thanks for any NFL checks they cashed.

I have never said he was the best Pass Rush coach in the SEC. But he is as good an overall DL coach/recruiter combo as you are going to find. I am sure you can name one who is better in some aspect. But not overall IMO. At least not that is available to us.

Also, he cares about his guys! Daniel and Cowart have issues outside of football. You can't coach the schizophrenia out of someone.

Although, I guarantee you that he has tried. I don't know what anyone could do to help BC.

agree w/ Hunter.

If Ross is out there running a 4.89 forty, i don't care if he's 6'6.....it will be very telling for Ross on whether he's legit or not when he faces elite competition at some of the All American games/practices. Be interested to see if he can create separation.

And who exactly keeps those LB clean? Or spills those runs to the outside so the LB can make those plays?

It's not that difficult to ascertain. RG has done all he could do to help BC, and Daniel. He is close to EJ's family having recruited and coached his cousin.

He tries to make men out of boys. BC just seems to be hard headed. 90% of the guys produce and develop. There will always be a couple who don't.

They all seem to credit his tough love persona.

Are you limiting this just to BC being "hard headed" or is there more?

Stahp. He obviously has some problems dealing with everyday setbacks that others are able to overcome.

I am not going to get backed into stating something that I don't know to be a fact.

Talk about football!
