Has anything changed with him? With Auburn striking out on so many, it's imperative we land him, IMO. I like the idea of a bigger back like him.
He seems to be an "anywhere but AU" type of kid. He told Rivals today his top 5 is LSU, UCLA, USC, Michigan State & TEX. I think that ship has sailed
He might be large in size but he doesn't run like a big back. I am not as down on him as others on here but he's not a bruiser. He's a great athlete that uses quickness and vision more than his size. I still think he could get it done for AU but seems like he still mad we didn't want him purely as a RB at first

Seems to be a lot of those type kids out there right now.

HJ is like the 7 foot plus basket ball center that only wants to bring the ball up and shoot three pointers. He does not want to use his size.

This is unrelated to AU recruiting but watched some tape on the other top QBs in this class. My goodness TCU is getting a stud in Justin Rogers. That dude has Nick Marshall's ability to just make things happened paired with much bigger size and a more accurate arm. If they put some nice pieces around him, Horned Frogs might win the Big 12 here in the next 2-3 years. Especially if they can get Terrace Marshall to follow him. They will be fun to watch

Top of the board (247)

After a solid run on the recruiting trail in July, Auburn now has 11 commitments.
But the Tigers still have a long way to go to fill the 2018 class.
In fact, there might be up to 14 spots left to fill.
Today, we look at the top targets remaining at each position and give the latest intel on their respective recruitments.
Posted on 8/11/17 at 8:12 am to TigerPaw1
quote:
QUARTERBACK
Committed: 1 — Joey Gatewood. The 4-star recruit committed to Auburn way back in December of 2015 when he was a sophomore. Even though other schools have pursued him and the Tigers would like to add a second quarterback, Gatewood remains solid.
Spots to fill: 1
Top of the board: Justin Fields. The No. 1 overall recruit nationally in the 247Sports rankings, Fields has visited Auburn multiple times this year and threw for the coaches in July. Florida State and Georgia are thought to be the other top contenders. According to Fields, he will not announce his college choice until sometime during the season because he wants to watch his top schools play. The Tigers staff believes Auburn has a legitimate shot. Meantime, Fields has developed a friendship with Tigers quarterback Jarrett Stidham. The highest amount of confidence seems to be coming from the Georgia side.

RUNNING BACK
Committed: 1 — Shaun Shivers. The diminutive Shivers (he’s in the 5-feet-7 range) is not an every down back, but an all-purpose back. Blessed with great speed, in addition to getting carries out of the backfield he should get the ball on jet sweeps and in the return game.
Spots to fill: 1
Top of the board: Four-star back Asa Martin of Decatur (Ala.) Austin appears to be the top target at this time. He’ll announce his commitment Aug.24. Right now, Auburn and Alabama appear to be the front-runners. Apparently, the Tide is confident. But Auburn also seems to like its chances. Our intel suggests it’s still too close to call.

TIGHT END
Committed: 0
Spots to fill: 1
Top of the board: This position is still coming into focus. The Tigers — and many others — are high on 4-star recruit Luke Ford of Illinois. He visited in the summer but Auburn does not seem to be toward the top for him. In-state recruit Michael Parker is someone the Tigers also like a lot. But two of his brothers play for Alabama and he appears to be waiting on a Tide offer. Ben Sims, a Baylor commit from Texas, might be another to watch here.

quote:
RECEIVER
Committed: 1 — Shedrick Jackson. The nephew of Auburn great Bo Jackson has developed into a solid recruit — one blessed both with size and athleticism. His development over the past year has Auburn excited.
Spots to fill: 2-3
Top of the board: Matthew Hill, Justyn Ross and Seth Williams. There doesn’t appear to be a clear-cut No. 1 receiver on the board. Rather, Auburn has prioritized each of these three about the same. Hill is expected to decide soon and most think the Tigers are the favorites. Auburn is battling Alabama and Clemson for Ross. With Williams, there is a feeling Auburn might have emerged as the front-runner but Alabama is lurking.

OFFENSIVE TACKLE
Committed: 0
Spots to fill: 1-2
Top of the board: Dylan Wonnum of Georgia is a player the Tigers really want. Landing him won’t be easy, though. His brother plays for South Carolina and the 247Sports Crystal Ball projects him to the Gamecocks. Wonnum was expected to announce in July, but delayed his decision. Auburn hopes to get him on campus this season. Four-star junior college recruit Badara Traore is another top target. He officially visited the Tigers in July, but has four more officials to take.

quote:
OFFENSIVE GUARD/CENTER
Committed: 2 — Jalil Irvin, Kameron Stutts. Both players committed to Auburn in the spring and appear solid to the Tigers.
Spots to fill: 1
Top of the board: Top-100 national recruit Trey Hill is someone the Tigers have recruited for a few years. Many think Clemson, Florida State and Georgia are the teams to beat but Auburn is a serious contender. Hill has visited Auburn around 10 times. That’s more than any other school. He has taken three trips to Auburn this year already and plans to return during the season. An early enrollee, Hill is likely to have a decision sometime in December.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE
Committed: 0. Technically, Auburn is without a tackle commitment. However, end commit Daquan Newkirk is 6-feet-3, 290 pounds and quite likely will land at tackle in college.
Spots to fill: 1
Top of the board: This is a no-doubter — 4-star recruit Coynis Miller of Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin is Auburn’s top target here. Florida and Alabama are the other leading contenders. Miller is extremely close with Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner. If the Tigers land him, that might be the reason why. At this time, we give Auburn a slight edge.

quote:
DEFENSIVE END/BUCK
Committed: 1 — Daquan Newkirk. As previously mentioned, Newkirk has the size to suggest he might ultimately land at tackle.
Spots to fill: 2
Top of the board: Auburn needs a pass rusher or two in the 2018 class and that makes 4-star buck Richard Jibunor, a native of Nigeria, a key recruit. The 6-feet-3, 210-pound Jibunor is raw, but extremely quick and athletic. Auburn is in a good spot, but Florida and Tennessee are worth watching. The Vols were his first offer. Meanwhile, Jibunor will visit the Gators for the first time in the near future. This recruitment isn’t likely to drag on too long.

quote:
LINEBACKER
Committed: 1 — Michael Harris. The 4-star recruit committed to Auburn in July. Georgia and Ohio State were the other primary players in his recruitment.
Spots to fill: 1-2
Top of the board: JJ Peterson and Quay Walker. Auburn has prioritized the 4-star recruits from south Georgia equallly this cycle. Many think Peterson is an Alabama lean, but he has visited the Tigers three times this year. Walker is committed to the Tide — but other schools think he can be flipped. Walker attended Auburn’s recruit cookout in July.

CORNERBACK
Committed: 0
Spots to fill: 1-2
Top of the board: Although he is committed to Clemson, 4-star recruit Kyler McMichael is a major Auburn target and possibly the No. 1 corner on the board. Clemson has recruited him cat safety but Auburn projects hm at corner. Gus Malzahn and Co. continues to pursue McMichael extremely hard.
Posted on 8/11/17 at 8:15 am to TigerPaw1
quote:
SAFETY
Committed: 2 — Quindarious Monday, Jamien Sherwood. Monday is a 4-star recruit; Sherwood is a 3-star. Both were priority targets for the Tigers. Additionally, Auburn has commitments from athletes Kolbi Fuqua and Josh Marsh; Fuqua is likely to play safety at Auburn; Marsh has been recruited as a star/safety type.
Spots to fill: 0
Top of the board: Auburn likely is done here.

Sounds about right for our DE / Pass Rusher recruits

Sounds about right for our DE / Pass Rusher recruits
If we suck at pass rushing this year then I will probably join the "Garner sucks at recruiting pass rushers" train but for now I like what we are doing with our DL recruiting. We put a priority on guys that can do multiple things allowing us to easily transition from 4 man over fronts to 3 man okie to 4 man under. Lets you show lots of different looks without substituting.
However, if we can't generate a pass rush then it's worthless. Very interested to see how that front looks this year without Adams/Lawson. It's getting a ton of hype hopefully it lives up to it
