Offensive line (4)
4-star Jalil Irvin*, Stephenson (Ga.): Irvin has been committed since shortly after Auburn’s most recent junior day. It sparked slight momentum that later included two A-Day pickups. Since then, Irvin has been courted by the likes of Florida, Mississippi State, Ohio State and Michigan State. But he’s been a loyal visitor for big recruiting events, which is generally a sign a prospect is fully committed.
4-star Dylan Wonnum, Tucker (Ga.): Irvin will likely help in recruiting Wonnum to Auburn. The two offensive linemen have played alongside each other growing up. They’ve attended Auburn together on more than one occasion, and Irvin hasn’t shied away from talking about his hopes of convincing Wonnum to join him as a Tiger. Wonnum visited last weekend, which is one step closer to snagging him away from South Carolina, the perceived favorite.
4-star Christian Armstrong, Warner Robins (Ga.): The offensive tackle position has been somewhat of a toss-up. There wasn’t much reason to change from Jerome Carvin like in my last class projection, but Armstrong attended Big Cat Weekend and Carvin didn’t. Armstrong has been shown interest by Penn State and Florida State, but if Auburn makes a push for him, I like the Tigers’ chances.
3-star Kameron Stutts*, Brooks (Ala.): In my mind, Stutts will end up as one of the biggest gems of this recruiting class. He’s a 6-foot-5, 320-pound lineman who has the frame to play guard, but the athleticism — just look at his ability to throw shot put — to potentially stretch out to tackle. His spirit certainly helps the Tigers recruit others, which was put on full display during Big Cat Weekend.
I am not super high on Armstrong but given how our OT recruiting is going this class I would be happy with this group

Defensive line (4)
4-star Richard Jibunor, Athens Christian (Ga.): Jibunor missed Big Cat Weekend, but he didn’t take long to make it back to Auburn. With Georgia looking elsewhere, it’ll come down to Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee. He’ll visit Alabama within the next week, which will give him a better idea of where he sits on the Crimson Tide’s board. Ultimately, the Tigers will be too much for anyone to beat with their combination of early interest and his relationship with Prince Tega Wanogho.
4-star Coynis Miller, Jackson-Olin (Ala.): Here’s another prospect who will likely decide between Auburn and Alabama. The Crimson Tide don’t often miss out on a prospect like Miller when they want him, but the Tigers might hold the edge for a few reasons. The Tigers have recruited him longer. He visits the Plains more than anywhere else. He has his high school teammate, Tadarian Moultry, at Auburn. It’ll be a fight to the finish, but the Tigers will win out over the Crimson Tide.
4-star Daquan Newkirk*, Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.: Newkirk’s journey to Auburn has been a fascinating one. He might take a couple recruiting trips to other destinations to get a taste of what those programs are like, but after the Tigers stuck with him through so much personal turmoil, Newkirk isn’t planning on going anywhere else.
3-star Andres Fox, Mobile Christian (Ala.): As I’ve said for a while, it’s only a matter of time before Fox commits to Auburn. He has called it an Alabama, Auburn and LSU race, but Auburn has had an advantage since it became the first team to offer. Fox will be back at Auburn for a few days this week — another sign the Tigers are the likeliest to land him.
This is my dream DL class. Would be pumped if we landed this group

Linebacker (2)
4-star Michael Harris, Tucker (Ga.): The day to watch here is Saturday. That’s when Harris plans to visit Ohio State — he grew up rooting for the Buckeyes. If he leaves Columbus without committing, Auburn would have to be considered in the driver’s seat. With Quay Walker committed to Alabama, Harris is likely choice No. 1 for the Tigers at linebacker. Auburn can get him as long as the Buckeyes are hesitant with spots at the position.
4-star Zakoby McClain, Valdosta (Ga.): McClain hasn’t visited Auburn for a few weeks, which has allowed LSU and West Virginia to pull even. But the last time he was on the Plains, he left with an impression of who his favorite school was. The Tigers need to work at getting him back on campus to re-kindle that appreciation for Auburn. I think that will happen.
I am worried about LSU with McClain. As for Harris, give us something in return for taking Teague Buckeyes

Defensive backs (6)
4-star safety Quindarious Monday, Carver (Ga.): Monday once called Auburn his clear-cut leader. Now Florida and Georgia — potentially Florida State — have crept into the mix. Someone close to Monday’s recruitment said they think it’ll come down to Florida and Auburn. The Tigers have been on him for the longest, and generally the early impressions (like calling Auburn the leader) are the things prospects end up falling back on come decision time.
3-star safety Jamien Sherwood, Jensen Beach (Fla.): Sherwood is being recruited hard by the Florida in-state schools. So it says a lot when a prospect of his caliber steps out of the state twice in a month to visit a school. Sherwood raved about Auburn following his Big Cat Weekend visit, and the Tigers have made him one of their top safety targets in the entire class.
3-star safety Joe Foucha, McDonogh 35 (La.): Foucha was raised a fan of Auburn because of his early love for Cam Newton. Like Sherwood, Foucha has stepped out of state twice in the past month to make a visit to Auburn. He said after his visit that he connected with Sherwood and Juanyeh Thomas in hopes of the three establishing a relationship off campus and outside of football. That’s a good sign for the Tigers with all three.
3-star cornerback Juanyeh Thomas, Niceville (Fla.): Thomas was probably the most surprising non-commitment after Big Cat Weekend, but it’ll happen. He wants to wait until the end of the summer like many of Auburn’s other targets. When he does, Auburn — who has made him a priority more than Florida and Georgia Tech — will be the school of choice, assuming the spot hasn’t already been filled by Kyler McMichael or Jalyn Armour-Davis.
3-star safety Charles McClelland, Clinch Co. (Ga.): When he visited Auburn, the Tigers were the only Power 5 program to offer. LSU has offered since, which will likely amp up the hype around him across the SEC. Auburn got into the conversation before everyone else, however, and that will be what sets the Tigers apart.
3-star athlete Kolbi Fuqua*, Cordova (Ala.): The only difference with Fuqua in this edition is position. He said the Tigers were recruiting him as a wide receiver, but he also has the potential to play defense. I see him as a safety at the next level. Either way, it’ll be with the Tigers.
Greg Brown coming for all them 3*s

Williams would be a hell of a steal away from Bama

I am worried about LSU with McClain.

I think that's changed. Bama is starting to make him more of a priority. Regardless I would still be shocked if we got him out of their backyard. Would love for it to happen but not gonna get too excited about the idea

Auburn makes final 6 for touted DB (247)
This is starting to feel like an AU/CLEM battle
quote:
Auburn is a finalist for 4-star cornerback taget Kyler McMichael of Greater Atlanta Christian (Ga.).
McMichael, the No. 13 corner and No. 105 overall recruit nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite, named a final six Wednesday night of Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee.
McMichael has visited Auburn twice this year and both trips took place in the past two months.
Most recently, he attended Big Cat Weekend on June 3.
Afterward, he said he might alter his plans of committing this summer.
“I was planning on making a decision before the season but I’m probably going to hold off on that so I can get up here and spend the night on the campus and get an idea,” McMichael said.
As for Auburn, he noted, "They’re very sincere, a christian-based school, spiritual environment, it’s not too far away from home, the campus is beautiful. I’m definitely trying to make it a priority to get back up here as much as possible.”

KN also has update on 3* ATH Tae Provens. Apparently he was a bit shocked by AU's change to recruit him as an "athlete" and not just a RB. But now says that after he and his family took some time to think about it he's cool with it. The #1 thing he wants is a shot at RB. If he gets that he will be happy. He has a top group of AU, LSU, SCAR, TEN & LOU. He is visiting Louisville this weekend and wants to visit rest of his finalists before announcing in August. His final quote was him calling AU his family and loves them to death.
I think he commits to AU in August. Sounds like just needed time to process the change. Tennessee is a real threat tho. I am honestly starting to like the idea of him as a DB. Dude is quick and if he gets more physical could be a solid player back there

We seem to give kids a fair shake at RB before me move them don't we? Can't think of anyone who moved by coaches choice /upset about it
If anything, he can move to RB mid career like so many other AU players

I think we do. Jason Smith has really been the only guy that got "a shot" that didn't feel all that legit but I don't think he was upset by that. More upset by not playing any at WR
With Alaric Williams not qualifying doesn't hurt to let him play RB freshman year anyway. Though if he switches to safety he could play much earlier which is why Ford did it. Basically I don't think it would hurt to let him go through a fall at RB and if he doesn't make much of an impact consult him about switching sides

quote:Hell of a lot more legit than JF3 ever was. I honestly thought that Jason Smith had a decent chance of being a QB - his JUCO tape was so intriguing - seemed electric behind center and he definitely was a much more accurate passer (relatively speaking) than JF3.

I meant the shot they were given. Franklin spent a whole season at QB and even started a game. Smith spent like 2 weeks there and then got moved

Also it's very possible Clint may not want JF's sister.
This is where Jay Jacobs would need to step in.

So basically we just have to wait and see if other top teams want most of the top players we are after? Backup school U!

Honestly, I would love that class at DB.
Something to be said for trusting your own evals. A lot of the guys Auburn gets on board as early 3* end up 4* after more evals are done. Lots of lengthy guys there and quick twitch smaller ones too.
