Auburn's top offensive line targets in 2018 class (AL.com)
quote:
AUBURN'S TOP OFFENSIVE LINE TARGET
Trey Hill (6-foot-3, 325 pounds, Warner Robbins, Ga.)
The four-star prospect and nation's No. 2 offensive guard in the 247Sports Composite has been to Auburn multiple times for recruiting visits. He has no public leader, but many believe Georgia has an early edge. Clemson is also a big factor. Keep an eye on this one.
3 MORE TO WATCH
Tank Jenkins (6-foot-2, 325 pounds, Montgomery, Ala.)
Jenkins is very familiar with Auburn's campus, and his latest visit came earlier this month. Alabama has also offered the four-star prospect, but the Tigers are the favorite in the 247Sports Crystal Ball. He is a four-star prospect and the No. 11 offensive guard.
Jalil Irvin (6-foot-4, 280 pounds, Stone Mountain, Ga.)
Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Michigan and North Carolina were all labeled "favorites" by the four-star just last week. Carlito Gonzalez, a 2017 Auburn signee, played with Irvin at Stephenson High School. He is the No. 16 offensive guard.
William Barnes (6-foot-4, 307 pounds, Apopka, Fla.)
Auburn is in the mix for the four-star prospect, though Florida may be the team to beat right now. Barnes is ranked as the nation's No. 10 offensive tackle. He is the four-star prospect is the former teammate of Auburn H-back Chandler Cox.
IN-STATE GLANCE
Tackle Kameron Stutts of Killen (6-foot-4, 329 pounds) picked up an offer from the Tigers last month. He also holds offers from Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech, among others. He is a three-star prospect and his stock is on the rise.

Survey: Recruits hold varying opinions about early signing period (Rivals)
quote:
There has been plenty of talk from both college coaches and the media about the proposed additional signing period that could take effect as early as this December. But in all the discussion about how it might help prospects or change the recruiting process, we’ve heard very little from the players themselves.
Rivals.com caught up with several prospects over the past few weeks to their thoughts on the topic.

SoCal UA All-America Camp: Recruiting Notebook (Scout)
quote:
4* OT Tommy Brown
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive lineman Tommy Brown is at 14 offers with recent offers from Auburn, Utah and Nevada. The four-star plans to visit UCLA next week. Brown said Alabama has been keeping an eye on him too.

KN has VIP article on 5* RB Lorenzo Lingard. Even though he has committed to Miami we are still after him. Says Horton has been talking to him a bunch. Probably won't be making any spring visits because running track but we could get him on campus in the summer. Liked what we did in 2013 with Tre Mason

Also VIP article on 4* OT Richard Gouraige. Despite never visiting he has us high on his list. Texts with Herb Hand everyday and loved that Malzahn visited him at his high school. He plans to visit in March for spring practice my bet is March 3rd when we trying to have big weekend. Real good thing for us is he wants to go to school that makes him feel like family. Clemson is the supposed leader

OP updated. Added some names that have popped up recently like Brendon Harris & Michael Harris. Also updated some top teams for guys like Jalil Irvin, John Campbell and others from new info. Finally, updated team rankings. We fell a spot on all of them mainly because another team jumped up. Unless something major happens (like landing a commitment) goal is to update weekly if there are any changes

Despite the departure of Lashlee, and new offers from the likes of thUGA, Oregon, and others, Gatewood reaffirms his commitment, and is focused on QB development. He admits being all over the field last year didn't help. Plans to enroll early.

UGA site has post on this as well. It really does sound like he's still locked in with AU and at least willing to give Lindsey a chance. I think in the past he said he will visit for ADay. Will be a big visit whenever he gets back on campus

I hopeful with Gatewood but I really wish we could get in on Fields.

I read the Dawgnation article. First impression was how different the article was from ours. Our subtitle is "Gatewood reaffirms commitment."
Georgia's article stressed that Gatewood may have uncertainties.
Also, I'm really interested in the Milton QB the article mentioned at end. He can throw it 70 yards from his knees? wow

Alabama and Auburn WR target Seth Williams unleashes secret recruiting weapon (AL.com)
quote:
Williams is also a starter on the Stampede's basketball team, which remains alive in the AHSAA basketball playoffs, so how does he juggle football recruiting with basketball? Turns out, he has a secrete weapon on the recruiting trail.
"My mom handles all that for me," he said. "During basketball season, I don't even think about fooball, even though it's my love. I focus on basketball and getting a ring."
Williams had 14 points and three dunks, including a crowd-pleasing alley-oop, in Friday's 66-43 victory over Stanhope Elmore in a Class 6A Central Regional semifinal in Montgomery. The Stampede advanced to play top-ranked Pelham, led by 6-foot-9 Alabama signee Alex Reese, in Tuesday's regional final.
Once basketball ends - whether Tuesday or after next week's State Finals in Birmingham - will Williams then turn his focus to football?
"Baseball is probably his best sport," Paul Bryant basketball coach Shon Peck-Love said. "I just call him a freak of a nature. He's athletic, big, strong, runs like a deer, he can jump. You don't have many like him."

Recruiting roundup: Alabama, Auburn targets earn Opening invites at Orlando regional (AL.com)
quote:
Signing Day was less than two weeks away, but regionals for the 2017 Nike Football Opening Finals are already underway.
Perhaps the regional with the most talent took place in Orlando on Sunday. Several players from the football factory IMG Academy were in attendance and earned invitations to The Opening, which will be in Beaverton, Ore., in early July.
AL.com was on hand for The Opening last summer and in 2015 (read our content here) and will be at Atlanta and New Orleans regionals this year (and hopefully back in Oregon).
Some notable commits at the Orlando regional included Auburn quarterback commit Joey Gatewood from Jacksonville and Alabama rising junior commit Trey Sanders from the IMG Academy.

Quarterback Joey Gatewood reaffirms commitment to Auburn (AL.com)
This article is basically AL.com writer taking that SECCountry and rephrasing it
quote:
Since Rhett Lashlee left Auburn for Connecticut last month, several programs have turned up the heat on Joey Gatewood.
The dual-threat quarterback from Jacksonville, Fla., had a very close relationship with Lashlee and committed to Auburn in December 2015. He was in action this weekend at The Opening regional camp in Orlando and fielded several questions from reporters about his recruitment.
According to SEC Country, Texas and Oregon contact Gatewood on a daily basis while Georgia and Florida State remain in pursuit He said all that means "nothing right now" as he remains committed to the Tigers.
Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and offensive line coach Herb Hand visited Gatewood at Bartram Trail High School Jan. 18. The 6-foot-4, 223-pounder is also getting more familiar with Chip Lindsey. Auburn's new offensive coordinator paid Gatewood a visit Jan. 24, just three days after being hired.
"We're getting to know each other," Gatewood said of Lindsey. "It's going work by work. He's a good guy, a great person. I look forward to getting up there soon."

I think we'll end up taking 2 QBs, unless Gatewood REALLY shows some solid development his Sr. year.
I think we go after the guy from Arkansas.

How did Gatewood perform at the Opening? I really hope we take another QB besides him
