Nevermind just committed to A&M, oh well. That blows.

Im not a recruiting expert but I didn't like Monds flim. Hopefully we just dodged a bullet

Never seen his film but I'd take him over any QB that played at Auburn last year right now. Couldn't be any worse.

We need Gatewood to come in and start day one in the worst way.

So our best hopes are a true freshman that is two years away, awesome. I feel great about where we're at.

Other than #hireherman.... Yeah pretty much.

Frick this one hurts
Narcisse & Mond are both perfect fits for Gus's offense so losing out sucks big time. Looks like the whole "if you want to stay in Texas go to a Texas school" pitch worked on him. KN is taking some heat over there. Apparently we went all in for Mond & a dead period approaches so probably won't have our QB on board this summer. Some names to keep in mind
4* Lowell Narcisse (LSU commit, we will try & make another run but I think it's gonna be a tough sell)
4* Tray Bishop (might go from the "try you at QB" pitch to "be our QB")
4* N'Kosi Perry (Miami commit, Canes have a pro style QB committed as well but this kid is also from down there so would be tough pull)
3* Kaderious Toney (Florida commit, if Craig was still here I would feel good as he goes to Blount but he made some strong statements other day about AU & Bama being too late)
Personally I also say watch out for name Malik Cunningham. He is 3* QB out of Montgomery that is committed to Louisville. No idea if we are going to go after him but could become a target. Plus if we do land him I can look back & call myself an "expert"
No sugarcoating this one, we flat out missed. The Aggie Texas pride pitch won and if you look at the duel threat QB rankings most have committed already as well. We will be fighting an uphill battle from here. KN says the staff believes they can get back in it with some of these guys with a strong start so we will see. Let's hope any of White/Franklin/Barrett can step up and run this offense for a few seasons

This is what happens when you use your Qb as a primary runner. Qbs dont want to go to the college that will let them RUN the football, they want to go to the college that lets them THROW it. We will have an uphill battle for any Qb as long as Gus is here. At least we got Sean though

I'm sure they do.

I'm not worried. Sean White aka "Drew Brees 2.0" will lead an aerial assault on CFB the next 3 years with NCM and Kyle Davis, then we return to what Gus earned his stripes on with 2 years of Woody Barrett followed by two years of Joey Gatewood

I lost count, how many national championships is that in a row?
Posted on 6/27/16 at 10:39 pm to RandySavage
2 in a row.... TWICE
And 5/7 overall IMO
And 5/7 overall IMO

why is Gus not successful recruiting high school QBs? Seems to be an ongoing problem.

One problem could be a track record of sucking at developing them

4* Jeremy Johnson
4* Sean White
3* Tyler Queen
4* Woody Barrett
He has gotten plenty of high school QBs & we will get one this cycle as well. Like Jones said the bigger problem is getting those guys to develop & perform

We're not the only school struggling to develop QBs into great Qbs, though. It's been the only thing stopping LSU from taking the next step these past 7-8 years and they seemingly get who they want at QB most years.
Bama seems to struggle to find a guy every year but their system does a better job at not relying on a guy to make or break their offense. Georgia has looked poor at that position since Murray. Florida is a QB shitshow.
I'm not too worried about it, honestly. Just not excited about who's currently on campus. Hoping Woody can come in and give us a spark when he's ready

2018 - Joey Gatewood, 4*
2017 - ?
2016 - Woody Barrett - 4* UA AA
2015 - Tyler Queen - 3* meh
2014 - Sean White - 4 * UA AA, Elite 11 MVP
2013 - Jeremy Johnson - 4* Mr. Football
2011 - Kheil Frazier - 5*
2010 - Cam Newton - 5*, no HS QB
2009 - Tyrik Rollinson, 4*
You can argue that Gus has been bad at developing QBs, or has a bad eye for talent, but he has absolutely been successful recruiting HS QBs.
IMO he's just had bad luck with JJ and KF being overhyped recruits, but it's not like he was the only one recruiting them
