To put in perspective, in the 2017 recruiting class of OG's there is only 1 - 5 star and 16 - 4 stars, one of which is committed to us. Don't think this is horrible considering. Plus, based on Hand's history of developing talent, I'm fine with this.
This is the worst case of spin I've ever seen in my life.

Not everyone thinks the sky is falling when we offer a 3*.

I think it's more of the quantity of 3*s and the fact that we have 2-3 spots available and we're seemingly scowering for any 2 / 3* we can pull from Ga State or Memphis.
Ideally we would have backup guys waiting for the phone call but these guys are coming out of nowhere.

In jangs world everything is falling except bama. I really wish he would go to the board he supports.

Yep. Our best case finish is Plan Bs. Not how a signing day should go.

Well, this has been basically every year. We've always gotten 1-2 completely out of nowhere guys.

I mean, right now we have about the same # we've had the past few years. Obviously that can change with how we close out and we could add a few more, but this is not doom and gloom at this point. If the sky is falling because we may sign 2-3 more 3* recruits than last year, probably best you just stop following recruiting as it won't be good for your heart.

Tanner is not out of nowhere. KN has an article up on January 9th on him. After the dead period it was clear that we were evaluating a group of OL for that 4th spot
Jordan Tucker
Poutasi Poutasi -> kinda sad he didn't get it
George Moore
Matthew Tanner
I think Moore was first choice but is academically ineligible for SEC. So it came down to the other 3. No idea if we wanted Tucker or Tanner more but it's clear we chose Tanner over Poutasi
The FB/TE change is because we got a new OC. Not that hard to understand. I get not liking some of these late guys but Tanner is a backup guy we had waiting for a phone call...

Just one singular three star?
Yeah, okay. You must be one of the "we still be in the top 15" fans.
Not even messing with that garbage.

What's the purpose of taking Tanner with Horton and Harrel battling and one likely sitting the bench? Seems to make more sense to give a scholarship to a kid we can develop over 4 years instead of Tanner who most likely plays clean-up/bench duty for 2 years.

Wrong. Try again
He's not wrong right now. But let's say we finish with the 2 4* (Taylor/Johnson) 3*s for everyone else. Here's percentage 3* in each class under Gus Malzahn without special teams players or any of the walkon guys 247 adds later
2013 - 56.5%
2014 - 45.8%
2015 - 23.1%
2016 - 45.8%
2017 - 50%
So it falls in just above what we usually do. Not as drastic as some are making it out to be but obviously you would rather have numbers like 2015 than 50% of your class be 3*s

Not sure. Would have to ask Hand. I am guessing they think he can contribute at some point in next 2-3 years or they just like his film that much more than a guy like Tucker. Don't really know

Probably because Tyler Carr and other OL are going to wash out soon.

Ideally we only have 2 spots.
If we miss on Ryan Johnson and Tyler Tayler then things will get interesting

We have already signed our main priority and that is Stidham. The rest is just icing on the cake.

Disagree. That's an excuse bad teams make.
