So plus is improvement right?

Usually it means to add not to subtract from a number

Five Auburn coaches visit DL commit (247)
quote:

One day after his official visit to Auburn ended, 3-star Tigers defensive end/tackle commit Alec Jackson of Montgomery (Ala.) Jefferson Davis had his in-home visit with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn.

Malzahn was far from alone.

In fact, all four defensive assistants joined him -- coordinator Kevin Steele, defensive line coach Rodney Garner, linebackers coach Travis Williams and new secondary coach Greg Brown

KN has story on 4* DE Ryan Johnson. He was gonna announce on NSD but now sounding like he might do it next week after AU official visit. The whole defensive coaching staff along with Malzahn are going to visit him today. He hears back on his Stanford application sometime this week. He officially visited there last weekend

Auburn recruiting: Markaviest Bryant visits Georgia, other updates following official visits (SECCountry)
quote:

Georgia’s weekend was much like Auburn’s will be this upcoming weekend.

It primarily served as an official weekend get-together for commits. But there was one crucial target in attendance for the festivities, as well — Markaviest “Big Cat” Bryant. The edge-rushing defensive lineman went into his official visit to UGA with some soon-to-commit rumors.

He hasn’t pulled the trigger yet despite throughly enjoying his official visit to Athens. According to a person close to Bryant, the Bulldogs made a slight attempt to encourage a public commitment on the official visit. Bryant wants to take his official visits to LSU (Friday), Auburn (Jan. 28) and Arkansas on a midweek in-between before confirming with a yes. Another site has reported this to be a shift in Bryant’s official visit dates. This has been the calendar Bryant has laid out publicly (to me, at least) since prior to the Under Armour All-America Game.

The decision to wait until his other official visits close out, and make his choice closer to National Signing Day, has to be positive news for Auburn despite the fact Georgia is a clear front-runner. According to the source, Bryant’s mother has a strong interest in Bryant landing in Athens. She wants what Bryant wants, of course. But after the official visit to Georgia, she is sold on the Bulldogs and the Classic City.

She has made her feelings known to Bryant, who also feels strongly about Georgia, as well. The source said his mother suspects Bryant eventually will choose the Bulldogs, but the ball truly is in Big Cat’s court right now. He simply needs to let his official visits play out.

Gonna need to break out the iPhones on his visit in 2 weekends

3* OT Jordan Tucker just committed to UNC. Has been a clear backup target for AU. He officially visited UNC this past weekend. I still think if AU offered he would be in play

KN had update on 3* RB Octavius Matthews. Those tweets that made it sound like he might be decommitting apparently had nothing to do with football. He says he is 100% committed but did recently receive an offer from Purdue. Because of that he is thinking of officially visiting them this weekend but hasn't decided yet. As of now it looks like Matthews is locked in with AU

247Sports releasing 2017 5-stars on Tuesday (247)
quote:

11 a.m. CT at CBSSports.com .

We'll be releasing the final five-stars from No. 32 to No. 1 on the show.

I think this would be worth watching for Auburn fans.

There's been rumors Moultry could jump to a 5* namely Barton Simmons loves him but not sure if that will happen. Curious to see if Ashley stays a 5* in their rankings

Auburn commit Alec Jackson eyes fellow defensive line target (SECCountry)
quote:

Jackson started to gravitate toward Auburn, once and for all, around the Alabama-Mississippi all-star game. He practiced with commits KJ Britt, Noah Igbinoghene, Jordyn Peters, Malcolm Askew and Tadarian Moultry. The bond he formed with those prospects made Auburn seem like the right fit.

He also connected with another defensive line prospect Auburn is desperately chasing: Ryan Johnson.

After his official visit Sunday, when asked who he wants to join him on the defensive line, Jackson didn’t hesitate in his response. Jackson wants the fellow in-state defensive lineman to join the Class of 2017.

That tandem messaged one another prior to Jackson’s commitment. He wanted to assess where Johnson was at. Jackson went ahead and hopes Johnson will follow.

“Ryan (Johnson), before I even committed, I was like, ‘What you want to do, man?’ He said he doesn’t know. He’s still weighing his options,” Jackson said. “I don’t want to pressure nobody. If somebody tries to pressure me — that’s just the type of guy I am.”

At the Under Armour All-American Game, Johnson spoke about Auburn’s only defensive line commit. Johnson and Jackson began corresponding more regularly following the Alabama-Mississippi all-star game.

Johnson was one of the first to congratulate Jackson following his commitment.

“I thought that was pretty big,” Johnson said. “I didn’t even know he was going to do it. I had a pretty good idea he was going to Auburn. I’m happy for him … He’s a pretty good player. He’s big. He carries his weight well.”

Final 2017 Rivals100: Big movers (Rivals)
quote:

Prospects like Notre Dame tight end commitment Brock Wright from Houston (Texas) Cy-Fair, Auburn offensive tackle commitment Calvin Ashley from Washington (D.C.) St. John’s College High, Pitt safety commitment Paris Ford from Pittsburgh (Pa.) Seton La Salle and wide receiver Jeff Thomas from East St. Louis, Ill. all made nice moves upwards within the Rivals100, but the biggest movers are below and broken down by the the Rivals.com recruiting analysts

SEC Facebook Live & Recruiting Notebook (Scout)
quote:

Underclassman of the Week

Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County athlete Kearis Jackson has cemented himself as one of the top 2018 prospects in the state of Georgia. Auburn and Tennessee offered the 6-foot, 191 pound playmaker last week and he is closing in on 20 offers. Schools like Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi and others have already offered the junior. Jackson could project as a defensive back, but his future is likely on offense at wide receiver due his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands. It is too early for him to talk favorites, but he could be ready to do that after visits in the coming months.

quote:

Commitment Watch

Chesapeake (Va.) Indian River five-star safety Devon Hunter will make his commitment Friday at halftime of his school's basketball game. Hunter, the nation's top safety, will choose between Alabama, Auburn, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech is the favorite, but he had a good visit to Florida this past weekend, and the Gators are a team to watch. The rest of the schools are also making late pushes and with multiple in-home visits this week, it will be interesting to see what happens with the nation's No. 5 prospect.

5 commits who can help make Auburn a playoff contender (247)

Copied the slides below

quote:

Tadarian Moultry, 4-star ILB, Jackson-Olin (Birmingham, Alabama) — Auburn commitment

Auburn is fairly deep at most positions on the roster, but Tadarian Moultry’s talent can not be denied. He’s rated the nation’s No. 1 inside linebacker by 247Sports and has the potential to help Tre’ Williams and Deshaun Davis in the rotation at linebacker in 2017. Auburn is deep at linebacker, but he will at the very least be a big factor on special teams. Auburn’s depth at linebacker is the best it has been since the Tommy Tuberville era. In other words, if this was three seasons ago, Moultry might be starting or splitting snaps as a true freshman. He will be a huge factor for the Tigers in the future.

quote:

Calvin Ashley, 5-star OT, St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) — Auburn commitment

The five-star prospect is rated the nation’s No. 6 offensive tackle by the 247Sports Composite and there’s an opportunity for Calvin Ashley to break into the rotation following the departure of Auburn’s starters at left and right tackle. Even if he doesn’t break into the rotation as a true freshman, he will be a star at some point in his career and will be counted on as a big piece — and the next stellar offensive tackle — for Auburn. His big 6-foot-6, 310-pound frame makes him ready to play immediately, if he can learn Auburn’s blocking schemes.

quote:

Anders Carlson, 3-star K, The Classical Academy (Pike National Forest, Colorado) — Auburn commitment

Auburn is set at kicker next season with Anders Carlson’s big brother, two-time Lou Groza Award finalist Daniel Carlson, but the Tigers sure could use some help at punter. Kevin Phillips is gone and Ian Shannon has yet to be the answer as the starting punter after two years on the Plains. Punting might be a nice way to break in Anders Carlson, who is expected to jump in as the starting kicker once his brother leaves following the 2017 season.

Anders Carlson is rated the nation’s No. 6 kicker, according to 247Sports Composite.

quote:

Salvatore Cannella, 3-star TE, Scottsdale C.C. (Scottsdale, Arizona) — Auburn enrollee

The No. 2 junior college tight end, according to the 247Sports Composite, Salvatore Cannella could be the answer to Auburn’s lack of a threat in the passing game at tight end. He caught 29 passes for 443 yard and seven touchdowns last season and was named an All-American. He has three years of eligibility remaining, and at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds, it will be interesting to see what strength coach Ryan Russell does with the tight end in the offseason.

quote:

Jarrett Stidham, 5-star QB, McLennan C.C. (Waco, Texas) — Auburn enrollee

The No. 1 reason — and the No. 1 quarterback out of the junior college level, according to 247Sports Composite — why many believe Auburn could potentially be a College Football Playoff team last season. The missing ingredient during Auburn’s struggles the last two seasons (11 losses) has been a steady hand at quarterback. Sean White was consistent during Auburn’s six-game winning streak in 2016, but four major injuries in the course of 14 months has prompted questions about his durability.

Jarrett Stidham is the most talented passer on the roster, and he can run, too. He threw for 1,265 yards and 12 touchdowns with six interceptions while completing 68.8 percent of his passes during the 2015 season at Baylor. He was especially impressive in three starts: 934 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions while completing 63 percent of his passes against Kansas State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. He threw for a career-high 419 yards in a victory at Kansas State.

Devan Barrett being left off the list is a crime. He better not decommit also.
