Last 3 seasons:
8-5
7-6
8-5
I expect our recruiting classes to always be in that 5-9 range but considering our recent lack of prominence it's not all together surprising.
8-5
7-6
8-5

14 three stars or below out of 25. WTF We should have a good enough program to sign a majority of four stars with only a few three stars and five stars.
Look at our staff... We lost ALL our great recruiters and haven't replaced them.

Williams is going a great job recruiting his position... Horton is also good.
No doubt the recruiting firepower isn't there like it was the last couple years... But it's not like those coaches were lighting things up on the field.

3* WR Tamorrion Terry just committed to FSU. His offer was contingent on him passing so I am guessing he got back a good ACT score that or Travis Rudolph leaving early forced them to just make it commitable
AU working hard to get 4* Oliver Martin & 4* D.D. Bowie on campus. If none of those work out probably will offer former USC commit 3* Marlon Williams

Not sure what you mean. We have only 6 spots left. How many targets should we have for those numbers?

Auburn WR target commits to FSU (247)
Im guessing this was in response to Rudolph leaving early. Could be a name that pops back up in 1-2 years if he doesn't qualify this go around
quote:
Am told he probably will have trouble qualifying. Juco seems to be the most likely path.
Auburn really likes Terry's ability a lot. He's a stud, no doubt. Big kid with great leaping ability.
Coaches at his school have some ties to the Sunshine State. That certainly didn't hurt FSU.
But again, from what I've heard in the past few days he could have a hard time qualifying. If he doesn't make it, I'm sure we'll hear his name again down the road. Very, very talented player.

Auburn recruiting: Key official visit, in-home visit updates as contact period resumes (SECCountry)
quote:
I hope your dead period wasn’t too boring.
Let’s recap it:
- Jarrett Stidham committed and signed with Auburn.
- Salvatore Cannella committed and signed with Auburn.
- Tray Bishop de-committed from Auburn and later committed to Georgia.
- Alec Jackson committed to Auburn.
- KJ Britt, Malcolm Askew and Stidham practiced with the team during the Sugar Bowl.
- Malik Willis de-committed from Virginia Tech and committed to Auburn.
- Britt, Askew, Stidham, Cannella, Willis, Chandler Wooten and Nick Brahms enrolled early at Auburn.
- Oh yeah, and in the final moments, Rhett Lashlee left to take the same position at … UConn?
Surely, I’m missing something, but that’s a busy dead period. That was nothing. The contact period resumed at 12:01 a.m. ET on Thursday, and it’s now a dead heat from here to National Signing Day on Feb. 1. Official visits will be the primary focus the three weekends that follow. Emphasis will also be placed on the first series of in-home visits, which are generally a good gauge of how badly a staff wants a player to join the program.
quote:
Quick note on in-home visits
More will come out on this in the coming days. Coaches will hit the trail hard Thursday and even into the weekend, though there will be a solid group back in Auburn for the trio of official visitors. Of the visits that coaches plan to take Thursday, a few stick out:
Secondary coach Greg Brown will make his first visit to meet Hunter on Thursday when the contact period hits. That will be an important visit to 1) attempt to solidify an official visit and 2) bring Auburn back into solid position for the top safety target.
Hand will head to Roswell, Ala., to meet with offensive line target Tucker, who doesn’t have an offer from the Tigers yet. It’s unknown at this time what the contents of this conversation will be, but a first-day trip to see a prospect without an offer sounds an awful lot like a trip to deliver someone an offer. If that happens, expect Tucker to visit the last weekend of Auburn. The Tigers would be in the driver’s seat.
Rodney Garner will head to see Markaviest Bryant to start the recruiting cycle. Just like the December period, Bryant will be one of the clear defensive priorities. He has an official visit planned to Georgia this weekend to getting in front of Bryant beforehand will be critical.
Tim Horton and Gus Malzahn will stay in the state of Alabama. They’ll travel to Madison, Ala., to meet with offensive line commit Austin Troxell. The big offensive lineman received positive news regarding his knee injury. He is free to start running. Troxell will officially visit on Jan. 20.
I’ll keep you posted as in-home visits occur and anything newsworthy that comes from them. But remember: Don’t underestimate the importance of these early in-home visits by the Auburn staff. When the December contact period began, that prioritization of Bryant was a major reason why Auburn worked its way back into a hotly contested race with Georgia.

AL.com All-Access: Recruiting wish lists for Alabama, Auburn (AL.com)
quote:
AUBURN - Perhaps another really good offensive lineman, receiver, more beef across the defensive line and pass rushers. Key names for Auburn here among pass rushers include Cordele, Ga., four-star Markaviest Bryant and Sebastian, Fla., four-star Jarez Parks, who is also a key Alabama target. Both are set for January visits.

College football coaches favor December early signing period (AL.com)
quote:
Under the new proposal, the early signing period would begin on the third Wednesday in December. That's currently the first day that junior-college players and other mid-year transfers are allowed to sign National Letters of Intent.
The lone current football signing period for high school players begins on the first Wednesday in February. Recruits can and often do enroll in January if they graduate from high school in December, but cannot not sign their NLIs until February.

In-state junior WR Seth Williams delays commitment announcement (AL.com)
Guessing Bama told him no. Some solid instate WR talent next season with Justyn Ross, Seth Williams & Shedrick Jackson
quote:
ne of the state's top 2018 recruits won't commit on Thursday after all.
Paul Bryant four-star standout Seth Williams said Tuesday that he was ready to make his commitment known on Thursday morning. The 6-foot-3, 203-pound Williams, a Class 6A all-state performer last year, earned offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Florida State before his junior year.
But with more than a year before his class signs on the dotted line, Williams said Wednesday that he wasn't ready.
"I've realized I made a quick decision as a teenager, and that wasn't the right decision," Williams said. "I will not be committing (Thursday)."
Williams caught 51 passes for 667 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior for the Cottondale school.

Auburn recruits react to departure of Rhett Lashlee to UConn (AL.com)
The only commits it should really affect are QBs and our 2017 guys are already enrolled. I would not consider Gatewood a commit at this point but we will see
quote:
Two of Lashlee's biggest recruits, quarterback Jarrett Stidham and athlete Malik Willis, are already enrolled at Auburn and thus can not be contacted directly by the media.
Though National Signing Day is less than a month away, the biggest concern for Auburn seemingly lies in the 2018 class. Four-star quarterback Joey Gatewood at Bartram Trail in Jacksonville is the nation's No. 3 dual-threat quarterback and Lashlee was a major reason he committed to Auburn.
In an interview with 247Sports, Gatewood called the news "heartbreaking." A source told AL.com Gatewood and Lashlee had formed a "brotherly, father-son" relationship.
Five-star offensive lineman Calvin Ashley tweeted "Wow" after the news broke but later deleted it. Just last week he reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers amid reports that Maryland was closing in.
"I am 110% committed! Always have been and always will be!!! #WDE," he wrote Jan. 5.
Auburn's 2017 recruiting class currently ranks eighth in the nation in the 247Sports Composite behind Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Florida State, Oklahoma and LSU.
The only commits it should really affect are QBs and our 2017 guys are already enrolled. I would not consider Gatewood a commit at this point but we will see

KN did a resetting the board post yesterday, here's summary
- AU of course is done at the QB spot with 4* Jarrett Stidham & 3* Malik Willis who have both enrolled
- Barring any flips or academic failings we are done at RB with 4* Devan Barrett, 4* Alaric Williams & 3* Octavius Matthews. However all 3 do have some things to monitor moving forward. Barrett is getting a bunch of pressure from Clemson to visit. If he does things could get dicey but for now is considered solid. Alaric Williams & Octavius Matthews both have some grade concerns but considering we took their commitments staff feels they will both make it
- Auburn wants a FB in this class & has 2 top targets: 3* Chase Lasater & 3* Thomas Johnston. It's unclear who is higher on the board, also unclear how open Johnston is to playing FB when he has plenty of LB offers. Personally I think if we miss on our DE targets you just take a 5th LB like Johnston and move Moultry & Wooten to Buck
- With 3* Salvatore Cannella already on board, Tigers are done here. Cannella could end up being one of AU's top pulls as he gives AU a true receiving threat at TE. Cue Gus TE usage jokes
- Tigers want to sign 2 at WR & have one on board in 3* Noah Igbinoghene. One of our top remaining targets in 3* Tamorrion Terry committed to FSU yesterday. AU is pushing for visits from 4* Henry Ruggs, 4* Jeff Thomas & 4* Oliver Martin. If we miss on all those guys then probably go for 3* Marlon Williams who recently decommitted from USC
- AU is looking for one more piece to finish off solid OL class. 4* Nick Brahms has enrolled, 4* Austin Troxell if very solid & 5* Calvin Ashley has reiterated publicy last 2 weeks that he is firm to AU though Maryland will continue to recruit. There are a number of targets for that last OL spot: 3* Jordan Tucker, 3* Poutasi Poutasi, 3* George Moore & 3* Matthew Tanner
- 3* Alec Jackson is AU's only DL commit right now and is expected to play DT in college. AU would like to add 2 more with one being an elite pass rusher. AU feels pretty good about 4* Ryan Johnson though Stanford is a major threat. As for pass rusher top 2 candidates are 4* Markaviest Bryant & 4* Jarez Parks. Bryant is on commit watch in Athens this weekend but if he leaves uncommitted AU will have a great shot. Parks is trending to Bama but seems open to looking at other options and will visit next weekend. AU is apparently running 4th for him right now behind Bama, UF & FSU
- Travis Williams is pulling a solid first LB class with 4* TD Moultry, 4* KJ Britt & 3* Chandler Wooten. AU wants one more and the top target is 4* Tyler Taylor. Tigers will have to fight off Oklahoma & LSU but Taylor is close with T-WILL & Derrick Brown is recruiting his former teammate as well
- Despite losing McGriff it looks like AU will keep all 4 current DB commits: 4* Malcolm Askew, 3* Jordyn Peters, 3* Carlito Gonzalez & 3* Traivon Leonard. Obviously the big target left is 4* Devon Hunter who was once silently committed to AU. Now he is trending VT and might not visit next weekend as originally planned. Greg Brown & Kevin Steele met with him yesterday. No word on who backup is after Hunter but some names will probably pop up soon
- AU landed 2 top ST targets in 3* K Anders Carlson & 2* LS Bill Taylor
- AU of course is done at the QB spot with 4* Jarrett Stidham & 3* Malik Willis who have both enrolled

KN says 3* JUCO OT George Moore plans to visit AU next weekend. Apparently his stock is on the rise & could play guard or tackle. Visiting Arizona State this weekend

KN confirmed Steele & Brown both met with 4* S Devon Hunter yesterday but no work on how it went. Apparently Hunter has stopped talking to media so hard to get more info on him these days

KN also says that Gus spoke with 2018 4* QB Joey Gatewood yesterday. Gatewood says he still likes AU but KN thinks he is one to watch. The Lashlee news really upset him as he is extremely close with him and did not see the move coming. KN thinks we will stay on him even if he decommits in the future but I think there are some bridges needed repairing for AU
