Practice getting underway soon for Under Armour game. Hoping some clips of AU guys get out. Really interested in seeing how Ashley does. Also hoping Wooten can show out and earn that 4th star on composite

No. He did visit, but never showed much interest.

It was a long shot. We moved to #2 after his official visit for Arkansas game but we were always a very distant 2nd. He's been a Michigan lean since the summer

Auburn kicker commitment Anders Carlson was easily booting in 50-yard field goals during Wednesday's Under Armour All-America Game practice.

But Anders Carlson's most impressive kick came when he blasted field goal that got stuck in top of 20-foot tree yards behind the goal post.

I watched a few practice clips from this morning and this guy was dominating people. He looked mean and quick. They even moved him to OT some

UA All-America Game: Hot college programs on day 1 (Rivals)
quote:

Auburn

Auburn fans always pay close attention to the all-star season because it’s often a time when they can see their commits’ stock on the rise. On Tuesday longtime Tigers pledge Calvin Ashley, currently ranked in the Rivals100, looked very good during practice. Fans should be encouraged about the toughness he showed on the day. Uncommitted defensive end Markaviest “Big Cat” Bryant spoke openly about his affinity for the Tigers during interviews, a big factor considering he’s announcing his commitment sometime next month. The icing on the cake for Auburn fans on Tuesday was the play of their kicker commit, Anders Carlson, who routinely made 50-yard field goals in practice.

Chandler Wooten will leave for Auburn not long after playing in the UA All-America game (Scout)
quote:

Chandler Wooten will play in the Under Armour All-America game Sunday, then he will head for Auburn University shortly thereafter...

Evaluation notes: Chandler Wooten is a 6-foot-3, 227 pound linebacker out of Acworth (Ga.) North Cobb. Wooten is a long and still, somewhat lean athlete with good wingspan and he covers a lot of space. He has shown he can set the edge against the run and really stand up to blockers. He is at best when rushing the quarterback. He pursues the ball well and chases with speed and effort. He flashes good reaction quickness. In pass coverage, he is solid in his drops. He is a smart player with long strides who can cover ground. He is likely an outside linebacker on the next level and he still needs to develop more physically and add weight. He can show more explosiveness and better tackling through opponent.

Recruiting notes: Wooten is an Auburn commit who is set to enroll in January.

Also another video interview in that link with him

Auburn’s prioritization of Markaviest Bryant elevated Tigers from eliminated to contenders (SECCountry)
quote:

When he lists his top group, which includes Georgia, Auburn, LSU and Alabama, the Bulldogs come in at No. 1 for now. But, in a late push, Bryant places Auburn as a “very close” No. 2.

That’s a recent trend. Earlier this season, Bryant described Auburn as a likable place that “just isn’t me.”

Then came the contact period.

“It does, but it doesn’t (feel like the place for me). Before the contact period, I was basically like, ‘I’m not going to Auburn,'” Bryant said Wednesday after Under Armour All-America Game practice. “Then they came for that contact period on that first Sunday. That was the first day you could be out. I was like, ‘Wow.’ It changed things completely. It really did. Georgia is saying I’m one of their top guys. But Auburn came in Sunday, and that was real big.”

Since then, Auburn has skyrocketed up Bryant’s list.

The Tigers originally battled to break the top 6. Now they are working their way into a neck-and-neck battle with Georgia and likely LSU to the finish. Alabama is in the race, but the Crimson Tide have narrowed in on several other top defensive line targets. Arkansas will receive a mid-week official visit prior to his Jan. 20 OV to LSU, but the Razorbacks are in a distant fifth.

Looks like the strategy to visit him first was a smart one

Chandler Wooten relishes opportunity to prove doubters wrong (SECCountry)
quote:

He now has a chance to face off head-to-head with many of the top prospects in the country.

“It’s a big deal. I’m definitely coming here to prove a lot — not to myself, but to other people,” Wooten said. “I already know what I can do. Auburn knows what I can do. It’s just really time to show out for everyone else.”

Wooten showcased his versatility on the opening day of practice. He played inside linebacker and outside linebacker in certain defensive sets. That’s what he did for North Cobb (Ga.) and what he plans to do at Auburn. But there were times Wednesday when Under Armour coaches lined Wooten up in the perimeter to test his skills in pass coverage. Wooten found impressive levels of success in that role as a linebacker.

It’s moments like those that has Wooten eager to compete in the annual all-star game.

“Oh yeah, I’ve been looking forward to being with coaches and players and taking it all in, the whole experience,” Wooten said. “I’ve been very excited about the experience of learning more about myself as a player, being here with all the top guys in the country. You learn a lot about yourself.”

I like how multiple the LBs we are recruiting appear to be. Moultry and Wooten could play the Buck spot, OLB or MLB. With the fact that T-WILL has been cross training all the guys as well I expect that is a trend we see continue

Can Auburn overtake Georgia and land standout pass rusher Markaviest Bryant? (Al.com)
quote:

Auburn has made it clear that Bryant is wanted, recruiting him at the BUCK position.

"Just see how it goes when I take my official," Bryant said, when asked how Auburn can move ahead of Georgia. "They showed they have a real big need for me when they came at the first day of the contact period."

He said Auburn is the place where he sees the earliest path to playing time, as BUCK (hybrid defensive end/linebacker) starter Carl Lawson is expected to declare for the NFL Draft after the season.

"With Carl Lawson leaving, they have a couple of guys behind him, but coach is like, they don't think they can be as good as I can be," Bryant said.

Bryant said he can rush the passer with his hand in the dirt and drop back into coverage, noting how his versatility helps him stand out among the pack.

He said he has a better relationship with Georgia's staff, including assistant Kevin Sherrer, but, "I'm good with Auburn, too. It's tough there. Malzahn, it's almost (even)."

Bryant said he has a plan for how he wants to make his decision, but he's not ready to commit just yet.

"I'm going to tell the team I'm going to and probably let everybody know on Signing Day," Bryant said. "Right now, I'm not comfortable committing. I want to make sure what's the best place for me."

He said he "kind of, sort of," knows where he'd go if choosing today.

"I'm not ready to put it out there," Bryant said. "If I commit, I don't want to go (visit anywhere else). I want to be all in."
