That was my worst case scenario where we lose Rice and Taylor. Now looks likely, IMO.

Wouldn't mind taking a flyer on the instate ginger now

As long as Rich McBryde doesn't transfer out i'm 100% okay with a LB class of Moultry, Britt and Wooten. We only play about 2 LBs at a time anyways.

Agree. This is a very good LB class. Would have liked to stack the deck a little more but I can't complain about what we have already on board.

Rice just felt like the hard hitting coverage LB we've been missing for a while

I think Moultry fits that role....HOWEVER, I think he's just too damn good at rushing the passer to JUST put him at LB. I think he's a perfect Buck LB for our defense and brings all sorts of versatility. I have been really really high on Wooten though too. Super rangy guy.

KN says it's unclear if staff will push hard for Taylor. Apparently they are gonna reevaluate the board over the dead period. We might end up with only those 3 LBs

I tend to agree with Jonesy tho. This is a good LB class and would like to see us take advantage of that. With Wooten & Moultry Buck candidates as well I would like to see us bring in a 4th inside backer so I am hoping we continue to push for Taylor

Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game: Rivals.com awards (Rivals)

quote:

GAMER: THOMAS JOHNSTON

Johnston, a three-star linebacker, was quiet for most of the week, but came out of the gate strong on game day. He was the star of the first half and made a number of tackles, including a streak of four straight wrap-ups of five-star running back Cam Akers. He was one of the more active players on the Alabama defense when the downs started to count.

Shocked the white LB gets dubbed gamer

quote:

MOST TALKATIVE: K.J. BRITT

Britt’s play in Montgomery spoke for itself, but even if it didn’t, Britt spoke for it. The vocal and emotional leader of Team Alabama, Britt shouted at teammates and opponents alike. He chatted it up with reporters on the sideline and engaged in playful back-and-forth chatter with coaches. Quiet moments are few and far between with Britt, who effectively uses trash talk as part of his game. There are few linebackers that are more fun to watch in their element. The enjoyment Britt gets out of playing football is clear to anyone that watches him. He forced a fumble during Saturday’s game and let everyone know about it afterward.

quote:

EXPLOSIVE ENERGY: TADARIAN MOULTRY

Nobody showed a better motor than Moultry, who ran down ball carriers from across the field in practices and the game alike. His speed is impressive for a prospect of any position, let along a linebacker. Moultry moves laterally without effort and can change directions on a dime.

Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game: Top performers (Rivals)

quote:

Recruiting wrap: Igbinoghene is committed to Auburn

Performance: One of the week’s pleasant surprises, Igbinoghene stood out from the week’s first practice and looked explosive all week. He made some of the week’s most difficult catches and showed a nice burst out of his breaks. Igbinoghene lacks size, but he’s certainly big enough to be effective. He led Team Alabama with four catches in the game.

quote:

Recruiting wrap: Moultry is committed to Auburn

Performance: Moultry’s explosiveness and relative speed turned heads all week at practice. His length and quickness made him look like the most complete linebacker at the event.

quote:

Recruiting wrap: Johnston has already officially visited Iowa and Arkansas. He is likely to visit Ole Miss and LSU in January.

Performance: After a quiet week of practice, Johnston exploded during the game. At one point, he dragged down five-star running back Cam Akers on four straight plays and took home MVP honors following the contest. Johnston still needs to add size, but he moves well and boasts impressive athleticism. He showed himself to be a sure tackler as well.

quote:

Recruiting wrap: Britt is committed to Auburn.

Performance: Britt is one of the more vocal players in the country and immediately assumed a leadership role in the all-star setting. He broke the team down following every practice, but it was his play during those practices that allowed him to stand out. Britt carries almost no bad weight and is incredibly explosive for his size. He made his mark during drills and full-squad workouts. Britt caused a fumble with a jarring hit during the game.

quote:

Recruiting wrap: Jackson is considering Auburn, North Carolina, South Carolina and others.

Performance: Jackson’s size jumps off the page. He has incredible length and the muscle of a college-ready prospect. He was a nightmare in team drills and he sliced into the backfield routinely and batted balls at the line of scrimmage. There’s a reason major programs are in pursuit of his letter of intent.

For the bravest of souls Rivals updated their 2018 rankings. I will list guys I think will be or are targets for AU. Not complete list at all but are names I recognize as guys AU has been pursuing or might pursue. Using Rivals star rankings

Rivals100 2018 Prospect Ranking

3.) 5* DE Xavier Thomas
6.) 5* RB Zamir White (dude's highlight film is insane)
16.) 4* RB Lorenzo Lingard (we are a real player for this guy)
26.) 4* CB Al Blades Jr (few weeks ago KN says AU is making great push for him)
31.) 4* WR Justyn Ross (#1 player in AL)
42.) 4* LB JJ Peterson
53.) 4* OL William Barnes
63.) 4* DB Myles Sims
78.) 4* DE Justin Mascoll
84.) 4* WR Seth Williams (looks like Bama lock)

Scout's Top 25 Recruiting Classes

quote:

9. Auburn Tigers
The Tigers ended November on a high with four-star in-state athlete Noah Igbinoghene joining the class. The Tigers have only 13 commits total but eight are four or five-star prospects. The top prospect in the class is five-star offensive tackle Calvin Ashley who has an extremely high ceiling. Austin Troxell and Nick Brahms are two more highly-ranked offensive linemen coming in.

News, notes and recruiting scoop around the SEC (Scout)

quote:

Prospect on the Rise

Auburn commit Tadarian Moultry is the No. 128 prospect in the country, but that is too low. The 6-2, 227 pound head-hunter out of Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin had a huge senior season, he was a monster this past week at the Alabama vs. Mississippi all-star game, and he is ranked too low. Could he be the top prospect in the state? LaBryan Ray holds that spot right now, but the Scout 100 defensive end out of Madison (Ala.) James Madison might need to be looking over his shoulder. Moultry plays at one speed — fast. He gets after it every play in a game and in practice. He is a striker, he punishes people and he flies around the football field. He is one who will see his ranking improve in the coming weeks.

quote:

Commitment Watch

C.J. Avery has been down to Auburn, Louisville, Mississippi and Mississippi State for some time now, and on Wednesday December 13, he will reveal his choice. At this time it looks like the four-star safety out of Grenada (Miss.) is set to leave his home state to play for the Tigers or Cardinals. If he does stay in state, the Bulldogs would be his choice. The No. 22 safety will announce his decision Tuesday morning.

Scout is weird in how they do things. They have Bishop and Alaric listed as "soft verbals" so he wasn't including them. Also Stidham had not committed by time this article was posted

Nah...attitude problems and he made a bu$$ine$$ decision. Auburn refused to give his aunt a job in the athletic department.

I would agree Bishop and Alaric are soft verbals. Bishop is most likely gone and Alaric is borderline qualified supposedly.

Auburn commit Nick Brahms talks official visit, injury recovery (AL.com)

quote:

Brahms set up his classes for January as he'll be an early enrollee. He'll room with linebacker commit Chandler Wooten, he said. Brahms will pursue aviation management, and said he talked to punter Ian Shannon, who has the same major.

Brahms suffered a broken fibula and tore ligaments that connect the tibia and fibula during practice in August. He said he's ahead of schedule in recovery, but isn't sure if he will be able to participate in spring practice for Auburn.

"I just got cleared to start running two or three days ago," he said. "I'm going to start with that, getting in shape. We'll see how that goes.

"I think it's too far away to tell (about spring practice). There's a chance I could be, but I don't know if I'll be ready or not, physically."

Someone asked KN about Hunter and he had surprising answer. Says we are top 3 with us trending the right way. Hunter wants to announce at Army All-American game on January 9th. Still think that's a longshot for us
