Roc is also explosive, but probably couldn't carry the load. Jovon looked last time we saw him against Louisville. Theoretically all 4 are back next year. Sean White is plenty quick enough to scramble for 5-10 yards. All 5 OL starter return next year.

If Gus needs a Marshall or Newton to make a running game work next year with all that returning then he shouldn't even be coaching middle school. I could get plays off NCAA 14 and call rushing plays that worked with that cast returning

I would take him as a rotational C for this season in a heart beat. He would be better than having Devin Waddell in serious consideration fo minutes

Our defense is bad and with the exception of some of the youngsters learning the game. Our offense has been rejuvenated with White, but without Louis (season-wise) where would we be, and at RB, Barber is a ground pounder, Roc has some glass, Kerryon will be special, and who knows with Jovon (Malzahn said on 20 OCT it could be his time to shine soon but Barber had 34 carries).

We lost a game by 8 to MSU we could have won and obviously the 4 OT game today was ours to lose in OT. LSU straight murked us. A little less derping, and we are 6-1 but a sloppy 6-1.

I think it is unanimous that the only way we are going to get better overall is with some help in recruiting. Muschamp needs a recruiting season to get better. Offensively, WR looks like the biggest question mark.

Currently we sit at 11 commits, ranked 28th by 247, 40th by Rivals, 17th by ESPN. Recent reports cast doubt whether we will keep the higher-end commits of those 11. Broussard has a legitimate interest in FSU; Stove is going to visit UF and has expressed frustration with our offense; Davidson's 75% may rise or fall with our record and Bama's appeal and he will likely move inside and have to learn DT anyways. The rest do not project to be immediately impactful with a significant number categorized as projects.

So where do we go from here?

We have upgraded our Dining Facilities, Athletic Dorms, Practice Fields in recent years and are top notch in the conference. However some, even insiders, say that JH is beginning to slip as an attractive venue and our 1989 Athletic Complex pales in comparison to several conference teams with recent completed renovations. Still others argue our nightlife is not as appealing as say Athens, Knoxville, etc. If these above issues are real, it doesn't appear help is on the way soon.

Looking at players, Georgia and Florida, two states we usually pillage, are doing a great job fencing the borders with Pruitt's DC presence and UF's apparent resurgence. Teams outside the SEC, e.g. tOSU and Michigan, are trying to pluck top geographic targets away. Bama, per usual, is looking like monsters on defense and attracting recruits who will wait in line to play when we need immediate help. Recent resurgences in the last couple of years by programs like UTk and A&M may taper off this off-season with less than desirable performance on the field. Year in and out, we fight negative recruiting from the ridiculous number of successful schools encircled around us, and battle our in-state rival Alabama, the usual #1 finisher.

Several top recruits who remain uncommitted and could provide instant help showed a genuine interest in AU prior to the season. R Gary, G Little, one-time commit NCM, Shavar Manuel, Rahshaun Smith, Binjimen Victor, Antonneous Clayton, all expressed interest at one time. For all listed, we have faded in their top X schools as others have shot to the top. Addtionally, we have lost some early battles with recruits such as Tre Lamar and have stopped recruiting others such as Mbem-Bosse. There are still some toss-up battles we are in, e.g. Kyle Davis, A Jackson while others we are attempting to lure from their schools e.g. D Bituli. Auburn, with a long-standing reputation of taking JUCO players, is looking that route again. Recent years have hauled in some elite prospects (Cam, Fairley) but the majority of who we have taken did not eventually provide meaningful contributions.

Next year, with departing seniors and large unknowns being red-shirted, there may be opportunities for early playing time at several positions. At LB, Tre Williams and young Jeff Holland will be the only ones returning with experience. We don't know much about D Davis, D Williams; McBryde is listed in the secondary and Atkinson needs to add a lot of weight. At DE and Buck, we will have Cowart but we don't know how Tega will pan out, if Lawson will come back, if A Williams will remain inside, if Kennion will progress, if Thornton gains a single pound. Our struggles at DT are well known. Of our bigs at WR, only T Stevens and J Smith return. Slayton is an unknown. M Davis, S Truitt, and R Davis are all relatively similiar in size and fit the same role. Defensively, we are playing a lot of new blood. Offensively, Sean White has provided a renewed passing attack.

It is nearly November and not time for full-blown panic yet. Clemson is doing well and has the same number of recruits as us. There is a lot of recruiting left to be done, visits to host, Dec/Jan late pushes, and of course SEC head-to-head games to be played. Teams will hire/fire coaches in the off-season and AU may do some position coach restructuring. January could be an extremely busy month for us.

Yet, there is cause for concern. Momentum is not in our favor as a program at this time. We obviously did not come anywhere close to meeting pre-season expectations and as a program just two years removed from a title game appearance, many are wondering about player development and there is an ever-rising amount of conjecture regarding our team processes. There are winnable games down the stretch but each and every one will be a battle. A bowl game would be big but the likelihood we reach one is in question. Other schools in-conference such as A&M have new, astonishing facilities, while others such as Florida and Ole Miss have plans in place to upgrade soon.

If we begin to finish as the bridesmaid for the toss-ups as we have experienced before, fail to lure current commits to others schools away, and cannot garner the interest or attention from the aforementioned top players, what will we do? Where will those next 12+ players come from? Although many have become Armageddon-predicting Nostradamus, bitten by the pessimist zombie due to several high-profile decisions that have burned Auburn in recent years, whichever way it turns out on NSD, the mysterious, erratic, turbulent ride there for us recruiting followers will surely be enthralling. Let's hope we can withstand the future embattlement, dissipate the clouds of doubt, convince recruits we are not in an inauspicious state, and prevail with a Top-20 class that meets our urgent needs. We must or we face entering dark times yet again.

tl;cdr: It's not time to panic yet but we are going to need the good croots and a little luck.

Why are we offering Franklin from JUCO? He is 6ft 182. We have a really good QB in White. He can make all the throws. We just need some receivers that aren't converted QBs to catch it. Franklins only other offer is from Buffalo.

Wow....uhh.....i haven't kept up with recruiting but I was looking to this thread for pretty much exactly what you just posted. Great fricking post I read the whole thing.

I honestly think if SW continues to play as he has the past two games that every single game remaining on our schedule is absolutely winnable. As you said, everyone of them will be a battle, but none of those teams, including Bama, looks undefeatable. How we do in recruiting might very well rest largely on how we are able to execute the rest of this year.

That being said, I'm starting I get very excited about our future prospects with White....though I'm trying to stay guarded this early.

Honestly I don't think the staff believed in Sean before yesterday. The offer for Franklin may very well stay for depth though. The staff always wants 4 QBs on roster. Weill have the Dirty White Boy (Old Southern Wrestling reference), JJ, & Woody. TQ just had Tommy John Surgery & may not be ready to play next year. So we could bring in JF3 for depth. Plus Gus loves getting QBs he can quickly move to WR.

Miami has several guys we need to start making a lot of calls to. McLoud, Quarterman, Joseph Jackson is a good sized end, Ahmmon Richards is a 6'2 receiver, Tyler Byrd is a 5'11/6' corner that is playing the AA game. We need to make calls to these kids before Golden is flushed down the toilet to get a start on them.

Of their recruits we are already on Sam Bruce, Ahmmon Richards, McCloud, & I would not be surprised if we picked back up on Quarterman.

Then just sign a 6'2 205lb WR instead of Ricardo 2.0

No, I'm telling yall we're recruiting these JUCO QBs for depth. JJ is done as a viable option at QB. If White were to go down then Queen and Barrett wouldn't be ready to play. We'd probably have to plug in Jason Smith, but he'll likely be our best WR next year so he's valuable there.

If White goes down this year, we go back to JJ.

Starting next year, JJ would be mop up duty QB but if White goes down he isn't sure thing back up

As it stands now, yeah. We need another option though just in case, and I'm sure the coaches realize that. They probably have as much faith in JJ as the fans do at this point and don't want the season to potentially rest in JJ's hands if it came down to that.

Honestly, I think that if JJ came back, he would be solid/not a trainwreck. I think the pressure/stress got to him

If he came back in, he wouldn't be "the guy" like before just the "backup QB" who is expected to lose

I'm sure he would feel the pressure of the entire Auburn fanbase collectively holding their breath waiting on him to throw the next interception. If he ever plays again for Auburn, that will be the talking point. Hell, he lines up out wide on a wildcat play now and the announcers have to mention his struggles.

I was thinking Marcus Davis & Jason Smith. Rico played WR his senior HS year.

I doubt it. They gave him every opportunity in practice to win the job back before the UK game but he didn't do it. I don't think most fans would give him that opportunity given his horrific start

We offered the national juco sack leader today, Paul Jones. He has 14 sacks & 22 TFLs this season.
