Right. The reality is that we aren't a state school and our product on the field is all over the place. We have had a pretty terrible run at putting talent in the NFL in comparison to other schools in our proximity (save a few high end guys). We intentionaly recruit for a different offense than Alabama, UGA, FSU, etc., as a recruiting advantage. We stay away from the 3-4 to have a recruiting advantage in our area. And the coaches place a lot of stock into summer evaluations. Kids are pushing decisions back later and later. There are a number of tangible explanations. But they're no good unless you accept the fact that our coaches like eating after the big dogs

We have just shy of half our class filled before the season and that has been about where Gus has had us the past few years. In the end we'll get ours. I just can't accept the idea that we are behind before January hits.

I 100% agree that we do not recruit yearly like UGA , BAMA , LSU, etc. Unless some of you have forgotten, I Have been around for a while. And though I do not spend my days scanning tons of recruiting sites and tweets to gather info to copy and paste here to make me feel like a insider, I do keep up with who we are targeting and what basic info is out there for the public.

My entire statement was that we were behind right now. And I still feel that way. We are two years removed from a National Championship run and 5 years removed from winning one. I would just think we would be in a little better shape with commits at this time with all that going for us. We have one of the best on field coaching staffs around and what seems to be one of the best recruiting staffs around. This is another reason a logical person would think we would have some more guys committed.

We have had good classes in February the past few years and I fully expect us too this year. But at this moment, July 26th, 2015, I feel like we are behind teams in the SEC that we should be up with. Thats all.

I will say that we have whiffed at an alarming rate to date. And I don't know if all of that can be attributed to staff turnover and short relationships with new coaches.

Big WR from a school in Florida near Eli Stove. He visited and the coaches offered on the spot. His HUDL film is pretty legit

To me...with the coaches we have on staff...and what AU is perceived to be as a program...we should be pulling our weight with recruits. I don't care if we aren't the "state" school. We aren't right now. Hopefully that will change come February. I know it has since 2010. But hard not to be concerned with the 2016 class as it stands.

The problem around here is , You cant say that. Its not PC.

You have to feel like we will finish well. We pretty much have for a number of years. But, you would think there are some blue chip guys out there that are excited enough to come to Auburn with what we have gong on who are willing to commit early and actually stick with it.

Its only an assumption but it would seem that way.

You mean you're not a new poster? My post wasn't aimed directly at you per se. Just in addition to what you posted. I made reference to the disappointment over winning or going to the NC over the last 5 + years and not benefitting recruiting wise like I expected. We also have had some bad years and as Jones pointed out our kids going to the NFL is anemic,

Welcome to the Auburn board by the way.

FWIW my first post was aimed at CPA but I accidentally replied to Lanier Just realized that now. Wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers. But I suppose I am now PC

We have a few blue chip guys committed this year and we have two already a on board next year. We will always pull in guys that just know they want to go to Auburn. We would have gotten an early commitment from Rochester had Muschamp not been hired

he is a 2 star according to most sites. Unknown to ESPN rankings. I am sure Jonesy knew about him a few years ago when he was taking 9th grade Biology.

Thanks man. If i work hard to transfer enough info on here, maybe I will get smart like the other guys here and get to go to an actual game. That would be so cool

Good luck with that. I have been here for 3 decades and I still don't know shite. The only thing I know for sure is that if there isn't 4 or 5 stars next to a players name we are screwed.

Disclaimer: (I realize I am replying to Jonesy, but this is not directed to him, or anyone in particular.)

How is this recruiting cycle any worse than any previous cycle?

I find it weird that Defensive recruits aren't jumping all over us with Muschamp. Guess they are being told he is a one trick pony and will be gone the next year.
