Even if he isn't taken as a QB, he's definitely worth taking as an ATH.
Doesn't mean anything. There was a guy in my English class in high school who had an offer to pitch at Auburn. The teacher made every effort he could to pass the guy as long as the guy actually did the work. Dude failed the class and blew his offer. Went to JUCO and didn't make the grades there either. He was supposed to be a stud but blew any chance he had.
Im assuming you either just woke up or havent turned your brain on yet, but reading comprehension and stuff. I was saying its not hard and if he is trying he should be able to pass. Again TIFWIW

Relax BZ. 25 was just making an observation based on someone he knew from his high school. He was not attacking you.

He did just write this article (which I can't read)
But Cam won the Heisman because his running and TDs, Auburn winning, and his badassery. His throwing was sort of middling. If Gus was responsible for making Cam the gamer he was, then great. But Cam knew where he wanted to be and he took great advantage of Gus's system to get there.

Throw Cam Newton onto the field with the Carolina Panthers in 2010 instead of at Auburn and you'd see a miserable QB. He did a hell of a job developing Cam.

Agree on Thornton. That is also why garner liked Kennion, his length. He has further to go.
Jennings had a dunk in the TN State B'Ball semis that was very Nick Marshall like. He has athleticism 99% only dream of.

He owns the highest QBR in the SEC going back thru the 2005 season (didn't look any further).

quote:Just stop posting on this issue. You are making yourself look worse with nearly every statement. This being nearly the most absurd one. Cam completed 66% of his passes and would have been near or at 70% if or WRs had not dropped a number of passes. Look at Cam from Clemson where he was missing guys badly and lollipopping balls to the end of the year where he was much more accurate and crisper on his throws. Perfect example of Gus developing him.
His throwing was sort of middling.

Yeah, Barton spoke with Bennie Jennings (Dad) who played at UNA (UNA-Hall of Fame), and apparently Mr. Simmons came away thinking we look good. Said Lashlee had done great job with recruiting JJ. He visits soon. If that happens

Threw it 20 times a game. In Gus's system.

If you want to talk about this, fine, but check your tone, okay? I'm not emotional about this, and neither should you be. Besides, it's you guys who won't let this die.
You want to throw numbers around? Fine. Look at the one I just posted. In Gus's offense, any competent QB would post a great rating having to throw it 20 times a game. Again, especially in Gus's offense, where the D is obsessed about the running game, and the motion, and the misdirection. Yeah, Cam got better as the season wore on! He's Cam. He's pretty freaking awesome and talented.

Completely disagree. You don't draft a QB #1 overall bc he's a gamer and doesn't have QB skills. Cam's footwork, deep ball accuracy and zip all improved pretty dramatically from the spring football that year up to the national title game. Gus' coaching helped Cam to never make the same mistake twice. To me, that was the biggest improvement Cam made. After the Miss St. INT, he never stared down a deep WR again and allowed the safety to get there and help.

Cam set the NCAA QB rating record until Russel Wilson broke it.

Did his passing ability increase so much between the National Championship game and his 1st NFL game that he...
Has the 2nd most passing yards by a rookie in a season...
Has the 2nd most passing yards by a rookie in a game...
1st rookie to pass for more than 400 yds in consecutive games...
1st rookie to throw for more than 4000 yds in a season...
1st rookie QB to make the Pro-Bowl...
His QB coach at Carolina must be a miracle worker to have an average passing QB break so many records.

What don't you understand, man. Cam is awesome. I said as much. I also said he didn't have to throw a lot. He didn't. Gus has a great offense, where it's pretty easy to throw in. It is.

What was the knock of Cam coming out? His mechanics and that the didn't have to throw much. Plus, he wasn't a pocket passer. And, I guess, that he didn't go under center much. As good a Cam is, and even with all those wonderful numbers that joey gave us, he's still got a ways to go to live up to the #1 pick.

There are others if they posted the same stuff you did I would not reply because some have a history of unorthodox posts.

People have rightfully slammed me when I made stupid posts. It may take me a few posts or a while but I usually see the light.
On this issue, if you want to say Gus has not shown the ability to develop QBs over the long term then you are correct and nobody can dispute that. He has not had the chance to yet. I, and I believe others agree with me, believe that Gus has developed a number of QBs in the short term, when Chiz did not interfere, so we are confident he will develop QBs in the long term.
