We definitely could be hurting for WRs in 2015... at least for difference makers. Davis, Louis, Tuitt, Stevens will be solid, but they aren't the big body guys like DQ and Coates
Then we go back to running the ball.

With regard to Jauan Jennings, there's too much scuttlebutt and CB activity (BSimmons changing his - again!) to think this kid is going anywhere else but UT.

It's laughable the UT spin on this one... We'd never heard of this kid two weeks ago before his visit... then all if a sudden he's being predicted to AU?
This was a play to the ego of vols fans, plain and simple.

quote:Like it or not they are expected to go pro. Big seasons are not necessary for a WR to go pro a year early. A number have gone pro based on their measurables. Dook can and has flat out said he is one and done a number of times. Sammie may want to put up numbers like last year but the feeling around the complex is he will leave after next year.
We all hope they have big enough years to go, but they still have to come through. Nick and Gus, too. '15 is the year Gus lets it rip, IMO. Sammie might want to be a part of the JJ era.

Also, 2014 will be his 4th year in campus... yet another reason why redshirting studs makes little sense in today's football landscape.

I'm talking Barton Simmons...
Did AU guys predict him to auburn?....
where would that info come from?

Yeah, i've read the words out of Duke's mouth saying as much. Not Sammie. 'They are expected' and 'the feeling around the complex' are pretty weak 'indicators' that Sammie is going early.

WRs who haven't proven anything + leaving early = Big season needed.

Jason Smith was pretty electric, but we have Truitt and Davis for that role

Gus will probably play this out and try to get Jason on the team. He's talented. It's Gus's m.o.
Besides, Jason's not at Auburn yet. Gus doesn't have to do anything.
This UK/UM game tho.

If Sammie has that kind of year, shows out in a couple of areas, shows consistent hands ... Then good luck to him in the NFL! But Sammie -- ATM -- is a limited receiver with inconsistent hands.
It pointless to argue this. He'll request a grade and get one and then make his choice.

quote:That was the 2012 scouting report. He got better in all areas in 2013. His hands were better even though he dropped some. If he has 40ish catches and is near the top of the nation in YPC again in 2014 he will get a lot of attention from NFL scouts. They love WR that can stretch the field

i'm not saying Barton did it intentionally, but he either did, or was getting erroneous information from someone with an agenda. His "interest" in Auburn was an attempt to get pub for himself and Tennessee.... it is what it is.
FWIW, bama has run into this shite a lot over the last two years.... recruits will fain interest in bama to get people talking.

One thing Sammie can do is get by the DB's by about 3-5 steps. If he shows better hands this season he should grade fine for pro's.

I'll quit talking about this if you will.
