AUFC beat Minnesota Unites 2-1 last night to win the US Open Cup.
The win also clinched a spot in the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League.

is the Champions League the only team achievment left to attain? i guess there's the supporters shield ...

Supporters Shield, Eastern Conference regular season champs, CCL, Club World Cup, Leagues Cup.

i guess the leagues cup is a nice consolation prize, but it doesn't seem like one you necessarily want to participate in.

And Robinson and Guzan have been called into the USMNT.

God Bless Atlanta United

I still have not gotten over the learning curve that is soccer championships.

if we ever win the Champions League and qualify for the Club World Cup, that would be nuts. THAT would be a real World Championship

Very nice. Looking forward to seeing what Robinson can do.
Also Meram was called up by Iraq, Barco by Argentina under 23, and Bello to the US under 17.
Also read that some USMNT rep said Nagbe has declined multiple USMNT call-ups which, if true, is interesting. Nagbe seems like a bit of a different cat.

If anything, I am glad United is disproving 2 very, very lazy myths about Atlanta:
(1) We are a bad sports town
(2) There is some curse
Atlanta is consistently rated very high in data driven metrics as it relates to sports. We have 3 new stadiums. You don't pour 3 billion dollars into buildings unless there is demand. The Braves are 10th in attendance. The Falcons have all but 200 PSLs sold in a 72,000 seat stadium. Even the Hawks have sold out of lower bowl season seats, for the first time since the 90s -- and of course ATL UTD is killin' it at the gates.
I think cities with winning cultures perpetuate a winning energy.
The city is massive, it's a great sports hub, it's the capital of the south. I think we are on the bleeding edge of the heyday for Atlanta sports. There is legitimate faith that the football, basketball, baseball, and soccer team have the talent and resources to win a championship in the next 5 years. It's awesome to be here for.

Another World Series is definitely on the horizon. The Hawks have a solid young core that has a chance to develop into something great. And hell, the Falcons can frick around and go on another playoff run like they did in 2016/17.

Well, 2 actually (plus 1 might-as-well-be-new State Farm Arena)
