Maitan with a jack:

video link

Gohara went 6 IP with 11 Ks, 5 H, 0 BB, 0 R. Stud.

Ozzie has cooled off slightly with only 3 hits in his last 5 games (22 AB), but 2 of the 3 hits were HR.

Sims went 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 Ks. We need to hurry up and trade Garcia to get this kid up for the rest of the year.

Allard has been getting shelled lately. I would consider placing him on the DL for some R&R. He's thrown 105 innings this year after only throwing 80 something last year and 6 the year before coming off his injury. It wouldn't surprise me if he was just tired. Let him rest and see how he responds.

Acuña hit an opposite field bomb last night.

Jon Morosi tweeted saying the Braves were still involved in Gray talks. He said the A's are interested in Acuña. I would break many many things if Coppy was stupid enough to do that.

I really don't think Acuna will be traded for Gray. It would take something incredible to get Coppy to move Acuna.

By something incredible, I mean Trout.

Allard's velo is concerning. He is not right.

Saw Danville twice in last 4 days. Maitan is huge (would estimate 6'3, 215). Approach is very raw and a lot of swing and miss but when he hits it it is different than everybody else on the field.

Did not run the bases very well at all. Defensively he was pretty good despite all the added weight. Good hands and a cannon. Moves laterally pretty well for now. Clear cut 3B though imo.

I would go
Hit 45/60
Power 55/70
Arm 60/60
Run 45/35
Defense 55/50

Zero chance Acuna is traded for Gray. Zero.

Hope Allard is just fatigued. Would make sense.

Soroka........I wonder if they give him 3-4 starts in Gwinnett in August? He continues to absolutely dominate the Southern League. On the other hand, he will start to reach fatigue like (hopefully) Allard has recently, so maybe not the best idea.

Soroka threw 143 innings last year. He's at 112 with ~7 starts left. Averaging about 6 IP/start. That would put him at 155ish. I think that would be fine with them.

Would not be surprosed if he gets a handful in Gwinnett here soon. I think he will be in Atlanta in the spring.

He is unbelievable. A 19 year old pitching against batters that are all, every one, older than him, and he has a Sub-2.50 ERA and a WHIP hovering around 1.00? Unreal.

I have always viewed him as an innings eater 3/4 with a high floor but I'm starting to think he could be a good #2. He is so so advanced from a mental standpoint. Knows sequencing, his own strengths and weaknesses, is able to read swings, etc. at a much higher level than anyone else in the system and probably the entire minors. On top of that he now has 4 usable pitches and + command. If he is not a starter in the big leagues for 10+ years I will be shocked.

Totally agree - always thought he was one of those incredibly high, #4 starter floor guys with the upside of a solid #3........but to have this sort of dominate success in the Southern League.....he's got a chance to really add some oomph.

Things are really starting to take shape for the next 12-24 months for the MLB club. Folty has almost convinced me he is a solid #2/#3 guy, the guys in AA pitching well (besides the previously mentioned Allard stuff). Really getting more and more excited.

If Newk could follow the same path as Folty then I'd be ecstatic.

Looks like Touki is taking over the closer role in Mississippi. I like it.

I really, really like that as a short term experiment, though the timing is interesting after he had been so incredibly dominant the last month or so in Florida.

His stuff geared up for 1 inning only? Lawd.

We need to trade Dansby. It will declutter the infield and make room for talent. If I'm Coppy I'm doing this. It will be tough but it's the best way.

Trade Teheran if we can.
