And I'll reiterate that I think the Falcons have more talent on the roster than a lot of people(including you) give them credit for.
We were 3-6 after 9 games, and we seriously could have easily been 6-3 with just better coaching. I did like DQ but here recently was getting tired of him, so I'm glad that he is gone in that sense, but we easily could have made the playoffs and still be with DQ. DQ had a good eye for talent, hell he 100% hit it out of the park with the Kyle S hire. I think DQ hiring Dirk was his biggest downfall.

he deserves the credit for bringing Shanahan in, but for some reason I seem to recall that he and Shanny had an agreement in place (and were friends?) that if either of them got a head job and the other didn't that they would bring the other along.
So I'm not sure if Quinn hired him because of his foresight or because he got lucky that he was friends with the guy. His follow up hires were not very inspirational.

quote:I've never heard anything like this before. Sounds like some back page gossip more than anything else. I do remember a quote of DQ stating something to the effect that he (DQ) had the hardest time preparing against a Kyle S offense. I hate Sark at the time, but think it wasn't that bad of a hire, especially compared to DK. I also feel like either DQ or Blank wanted to keep that same style of offense, which hindered our OC in that they couldn't create their own style but needed to be like some other guy, Kyle S. I remember them saying that they wanted a guy to run the offense like Kyle did, and thought that was bullshite right from the rip. Why put a hinderance on your OC, instead of giving the free rein of doing what they thought was best for the team?

Aside from Ridley and Lindstrom, the drafting from 2017-2019 was abysmal. Too early to judge the 2020 group yet.

I like McGary, also. He's shown flashes but needs better coaching IMO.

I don’t think Arthur is that concerned about his age. His mom made it to her late 90’s and he thinks he will basically live until then.

Fair point. He seems to be in really good health for his age.

I’d hate it for Ryan. Rather see him go somewhere to have a chance at a SB.
MF HAD a chance at a Super Bowl. Give me a fricking break dude.

That wasn’t his fault.
Shanahan and Quinn ruined that one.

Quinn going full retard with the soft zone defense, specifically, is what ruined it.
