This team has way deeper problems than quarterback like others have already said. When Julio decided to throw a fit two years prior to his new contract and just after Matt got his, it was obvious how he felt. Julio clearly thinks he is the majority of Matt Ryan’s success, and he is probably right. Regardless, the situation has been a major distraction, and both contracts have now hamstrung the team from having any real cap space to fix the major problems in the trenches. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if there were some type of locker room divide either.

Sorry... lived in Atlanta long enough to have seen truly awful QB play for the Falcons, and a litany of people who quite openly cheered for DJ Shockley to supplant Matt Ryan, without Ice Man ever taking a regular season snap. Fortunately, his first pass was a TD.
I think most QBs aren't great without good protection. It's my hope McGary improves and Lindstrom comes back healthy... If we end up sucking again, I think it'll be a blessing. We'll get another draft to upgrade the fronts, and install a new scheme on both sides of the ball.
It is honestly unreal how much we under appreciate Matt Ryan. Has he looked off most of this year? Sure, but he has carried this organization for over a decade now. He has hidden a lot of deficiencies, mistakes, and mostly mediocre coaching. We would be irrelevant every season without him.

Based on your post history, I'm going to guess you're one of those who think Vick was better than Ryan

If the Falcons hope to turn this thing around in the near future (regardless of who is GM/HC), Matt Ryan is part of the solution....not part of the problem. Anyone saying that he sucks and hoping to draft the next big thing has no clue.

Agreed. Ryan had a great season last year on a bad team. I can list a bunch of positions that are of greater need than QB:
1) Oline
2) DE's that can get sacks
3) RB - devonta is a waste of money. can't block or be of value on short distances.
4) CB
5) Safety

for context, even with Brees (in his mid 30s), the Saints had 3 straight 7-9 seasons. Not saying Ryan = Brees, but that if the team is constructed poorly, it's hard to overcome regardless of the QB. give Ryan a running game and he's MVP caliber.

I think the line will eventually gel.
Two things I have issue with:
(1) Devonta Freeman. Good dude that isn't worth the money. If this season goes in the crapper, I'd bet good money that we're looking to move into the late first round for Etienne, Taylor, Benjamin, or Swift to pair with the MAN Ito Smith.
(2) Dirk fricking Koetter. This dude is clueless. I just saw the Bucs put up over 50 points on the Rams with Jameis Winston.
FWIW I never had a problem with Sark the way others did. Our schemes were creative, and we had games like Washington where the playcalling was beautiful. Watching us trot out these tired schemes and totally do away with the stretch-run play action offense is ridiculous. Anything short of the Super Bowl and his arse should be gone.

I will have a conniption if we take a RB in the first round. This team looks like shite and there are way, way too many holes to be doing stupid shite like that. 1st round pick needs to be pass rush or corner.

Based on your post history, you’re a cuck.
And Matt Ryan still sucks

Matt Ryan is the best QB this franchise has ever had and there isn't a close second. He is infinitely better than the inaccurate dog fighter

What does any of that have to do with 2019?

His track record says he doesn't suck. I'm guessing the issue is it takes more than one training camp to mesh with a new OC. Koetter has been here before, yes, but not with most of this personnel. Ryan's making bad decisions but I fully believe he will correct that.

Funny how Falcon homers have to convince themselves & everyone that Matt Ryan is elite.
You don’t have to do that with Aaron Rogers, Brady, Brees, or Mahommes

Matt Ryan is and has been better than Aaron Rodgers since 2015.
Only guys definitely ahead of Matt are Mahomes, Wilson, Brady, and Brees.
