I don't mean to overreact here but even before preseason I had a bad gut feeling about the Falcons this year.

I need some folks with more knowledge than I have, to reassure me ATL will not make me want to bang my head against a brick wall this year.

I don't see that same fire from DQ that he had those first two years anymore. That translated to the team and they played with grit, every single player. Now it seems everyone is just going through the motions and the "brotherhood" mantra seems to be hollow and lack any true substance.

What say the Rant? over/under season record 8-8.

I say over but barely.

The energy around the program and the city seems lacking. I too am lowering my expectations. I think the talent is there. They have gaps just like every NFL team when dealing with the salary gap and roster limitations. However, I'm wait and see whether this team has the fire and extra something for a special season.

Seems like a 9-7 / battling for the wild card type season. However I'm not that high on the Saints, Panthers, or Bucs either so a division win is possible.

I would not be that surprised if they started off 0-3 either (@ Vikings, Eagles, @ Colts is a tough first 3 weeks).

Take all this with a grain of salt because I have barely paid any attention to the Falcons this preseason. It's been all Braves and United for me. Really just hearing some reports/interview on local talk radio. I hate to say it but Quinn's message feels a little stale. This might be an important year for him. I could see Blank start thinking about a move at HC if the Falcons don't make the playoffs.

Only issue I'm uncomfortable with right now is the kicker.

I have a feeling that we'll end up seeing Matt Bryant back in uniform by week 8 if the mad italian doesn't show us something.

the falcons have lost something like 12 preseason games in a row. I put aboslutely 0 stock in anything that happens prior to Week 1. Now granted, they did go 3-1 prior to the super bowl season, so who knows.

I don't think preseason results matter at all either, but that is pretty crazy stat that they have lost 12 of them in a row. I'm sure Atlanta doesn't take winning them seriously, but I imagine neither do other teams. To not back into a win at all 12 games in a row is weird.

And we play the Jets and Dolphins like every year (generally bad teams recently).

I do think that it could be a sign of our lack of depth if we are losing preseason left and right. But yeah, I am definitely not overreacting to the preseason.

We could be great as long as we have Matt Ryan. I think he covers up a lot of mistakes (front office, defense, etc.), but we will see.

Ravens have won 16 straight preseason games.

I don't think they've been all that much better than the Falcons over that stretch in the regular season. Or have they?

Put it this way. The 2008 Lions went 4-0 in preseason and 0-16 in the regular season.

I have high hopes for the Falcons this year. I think the D will be much improved and the offense will put up a bunch of points as usual.

I find it interesting that some of you choose to ignore that Tavecchio is 21/26 in real games and only focus on his preseason this year.

So did the 2017 Browns.
I haven't watched a single second of Bucs or Jags preseason.

Take it from a long suffering Falcons fan. If you go into a season expecting to be disappointed you will be correct most of the time.
