I had the same reaction. Good riddance to Hageman. If money was an issue, they shouldn't have married themselves to useless Vic Bustley for another year.

I've been noticing some articles suggesting we're now going OL with #14 based on the offseason DL moves. Latest is saying OT Andre Dillard. I wouldn't be opposed to it. I think we use some picks to trade up and get another Day 2 pick and use it on the defensive side, DT & CB. Can't wait.

quote:

Go back to what general manager Thomas Dimitroff said before free agency kicked off. Dimitroff said that whatever the Falcons do in the draft will largely depend on who they might sign in free agency – that they see free agency and the draft as one process.

OK, now look closer at those free agent signings, especially the recent ones. I won’t list them all (you can read about all of the signings here), but here are seven that stick out to me: Defensive end Adrian Clayborn Defensive end Chris Odom Defensive tackle Tyeler Davison Guard/tackle John Wetzel Guard Adam Gettis Guard James Carpenter Guard Jamon Brown

The Falcons’ three biggest needs heading into the offseason were offensive line, defensive line and cornerback. Based on everything Atlanta has done thus far, especially considering the additions of Davison, Clayborn and Odom, it’s looking more and more like the Falcons are going to address right tackle or defensive tackle with that first pick now.

Ha, wow. We should've suspected it when he attended the workout. I'm just hoping he's grown up some. He's also making vet minimum.

But if he does make the team he has a 2 game suspension for a DWI last year. Hes probably hurting for cash from from his legal issues and child support. That should help keep him in line.

Btw, win DM signing another defensive lineman it's starting to appear an OL at #14 might happen.

Good article on Hageman from last month. I didn't realize the domestic violence was reduced to disorderly conduct. The DWI reduced to wreckless driving.

quote:

Hageman said Wednesday “it sucks” having been out of the NFL. He has been in living in Fridley and working out regularly.

“It’s been one heck of a two years sitting out and just watching my fellow teammates play, but it’s definitely a learning experience,” Hageman told the Pioneer Press while attending Minnesota’s Pro Day. “The whole process is just getting back in everybody’s ear (with NFL teams) about me staying out of trouble. You can’t beat around the bush. They obviously want to see consistency with me. I’m letting everybody know that my past is my past.”

A source said about five teams have shown some interest in signing Hageman, including Minnesota. The Vikings could use another defensive tackle. Hageman, 28, started 16 of 44 games for the Falcons from 2014-16 after being a second-round draft pick. He started Super Bowl LI, a 34-28 overtime loss to New England in February 2017.

“I’m probably in the best shape of my life just for the fact that I’ve been spending a year and half away from football with nothing to do but work and train,” Hageman said. “Whatever team I end up playing with, they’re going to get a hard, hungry, humble player.”

Hageman faced charges of battery, cruelty to children and interfering with calls for emergency assistance from an alleged March 2016 incident at the Atlanta-area home of the mother of his son. Hageman said he never struck anyone.

quote:

“The domestic (violence charges) got dropped,” he said. “It was disorderly conduct (that he pleaded to). … I’m not going to go into detail (on what happened). Disorderly conduct is you yelling, cussing, swearing out loud. It varies. Disorderly conduct could be a range of things, just verbal confrontation. “At the end of the day, I’m a better person. I’ve learned from my experiences and I move forward. … Sitting out has really humbled me.”

Hageman said he performed 100 hours of community service, which included “stacking food for the homeless in the Atlanta area.” He said he has taken some “classes just to educate myself to avoid some situations.”

He's had too many frick ups for me to take this at face value. Still don't like it.

Andre Dillard looks to be the new favorite for our 1st rd pick

I could live with that but seeing the Greedy Williams predictions irritates me. The guy runs from contact. No more LSU DB's. Jalen Collins was enough. Need OL and DL. Preferably DL first.

He was starting to develop the first time he got in trouble, apparently for yelling and cussing out loud. Besides that a wreckless driving charge is all he has. It's a relatively low risk signing that provides depth going into the draft.

Andre Dillard could be a stud. Best pass blocking win rate in CFB. I know the Falcons have Matthews, but Dillard strikes me a franchise LT.

Yeah I agree. Would be nice to have the pass blocking for Matt Ryan's final years. So long as we address the interior line on either side of the ball with pick #14 I'd be good with it.

I would still love a DE/DT. I hate that we are once again putting our hopes and dreams on Beasley and Takk becoming a force when it hasnt happened yet. Claybourn is a nice piece, but he isnt a consistent pass rusher. Grady needs help.

Paying Beasley his option for like $12 mm was such a bad move with no room to operate against the cap.

It would have been nice to save that or buy a more effective free agent.

Hope we go OL. But I’m guess TD will take Greedy if he’s there.

I think teams hate to admit when they were wrong about first round draft picks, but Bustley should not be making $12M to play in the NFL.

I want Dillard or one of the Clemson DL, preferably Wilkins, at 14 but my gut feeling is they'll go corner for some reason even though we already have Trufant and Oliver.

I want nothing to do with Greedy Williams. He's the most overrated non-QB in this draft class, IMO.

Reports are that the Falcons and Redskins are the two main candidates to trade up in the first round. Atlanta would grab Ed Oliver.

I would 100% be all in on this. Oliver could be an All Pro playing a natural 3 tech position instead of nose, where he played at Houston.

The price tag to do this would be fricking enormous, but I would love to see Atlanta move up to 3 to get Quinnen Williams. NYJ is rumored to want to trade down because they don't have a second this year.

We have too many needs to give up picks to move up for Oliver.
