We aren’t going to be able to trade for buxton
He has no trade rights and has made it pretty clear he wishes to remain in Minnesota. Also whatever package would be required for him would be comparable to one for say Gunner Henderson.
A SS is far far far more needed than another OF

I can live with Allen at SS granted the rest of the lineup is good. Like we've both mentioned, the SS market isn't good this off-season outside of a trade.
As for Buxton, let's see how he feels once the season is over, the Twins have dealt pretty much everyone of consequence and are entering a rebuild. Will he want to stay and ride it out or go somewhere else? He's from here, also. (Baxley). One of the catchers will be the centerpiece of a Buxton deal IMO.

Dude we cannot enter next season with what is by far the worst offensive middle infield in baseball. With Harris playing like he is now we already have one of the best OF in baseball and I think Eli White serves a 4th outfield role well to DH Acuna more.
Since it appears certain that Ozzie will back in some capacity that means Allen has got to be replaced, no matter how good his defense is, which it is amazing. Having two complete black holes in your lineup isn’t acceptable especially for a team that should be contending with how good our SP is when healthy

Wish their priorities and most of their cash now tied up in real estate, they will cut payroll even more. I don’t know what that means for the middle infield, but albies will almost certainly be back at his price.

Waldrep with by far his worst start of the season tonight which is a really incredible thing.
5.1 IP 8 H 1 BB 0 SO
All looks awful but he only let in 1 ER through all of this. We really need him to keep this up and then sell very high on him in the off season imo. Again I’d look at Zach Neto. SP is way less reliable and projectable than a good SS

You wanna deal Waldrep? Did I read that right?
If not, no. We need all the pitching we can get.

I can get behind this.

Keep talking shite about him and he'll keep having nights like last night.

Ozzie has always been an extremely streaky hitter. What made him valuable was the power he was able to put up throughout it. It’s nice to see him hit 3 HR in the last two games since as we all expect he will be back next year, but I’m not jumping for joy yet.
More to the point of the thread OP. Profar hit two solo shots and walked 3 times today. That contract is looking better by the day

They cut payroll this season and spent two-thirds of their cash on real estate this year, or are you misinformed?

Which is crazy because the battery is raking them in money hand over fist.

It is, but hopefully it be very enticing when they move to sell the team to an owner and not a conglomerate.

You're right that they did cut it. But I believe that they did it solely for the reason to reset the luxury tax so that they can spend this off-season.
We'll definitely find out either way.

I really think his wrist is just now completely healed, thus the power uptick. I've always believed the reason for his struggles the last year and a half was due to him not being completely healthy.

I’ve heard that also. Time will tell for sure.

Buster Olney was on with Nick & Chris and Nick asked whether he thought Snit is coming back next year. Buster said he will ask him on Sunday but doesn't expect Snit to say either way. Chris then asked him who were his top candidates to replace him:
-Schumacher (Though he said he'll probably replace Bochy in Texas if he retires)
-David Ross
-Derosa. He mentioned that AA has a relationship w/him from their time in Toronto and that it was Derosa who convinced him that clubhouse chemistry matters when it comes to team building.
-Weiss.
After hearing the interview, I believe that if Snit were to retire here in 6 weeks that Derosa would.be the clear front-runner due to AA's relationship with him, which I honestly didn't know about until I heard Buster.
I don't know how I feel about Derosa as a manager

Good information here. I almost feel like if they end the season on a run, he might actually return. I say this after thinking he would for sure retire.

I think he’s gone. It’s time. This team is stale both in manger roles and lineup roles. Need new blood in each and a splash offseason
