Ender and Markakis got one run back in the 6th. 10 to 3.

But Moylan gave up a homer in the same inning, 11 to 3.

The coach took Ender out of the game after a lazy throw in when the other team's runner was advancing.

Carle got out of the 8th inning without allowing a run. Now it's the 9th and the Braves just need 2 grand slams to get back in this one. Sure would be a good time for Freddie, Johan or Swanson's first hits. Let's bat around.

Bummer lost big 11 to 4, hope they win the series though. Tomorrow Newk's pitching, don't let us down! Too bad Freddie's hitting streak ended when it was still a teenager.

They say Julio left the game due to a bruised thumb.

How long does a bruised thumb keep him out? I didn't get to watch the game but sounds like Julio started digging the hole and Gohara finished it off.

You weren’t but ok...
And Julio is full of shite. He said it was a bruised thumb from his last at bat getting jammed. He was messing with his thumb in the first inning

It's always something with him. Flat out, the last two seasons he has been a below average barely hanging on MLB pitcher. When he is off (because of phantom injury or just off) he almost can't even get major league hitters out. Add to that the nibbling and his whiney arse faces when things go bad and gawd damn am I sick of watching him pitch. Forget being an "ace" (which was always laughable), he's barely a 4th or 5th option on a playoff team at this point.

Julio Teheran Last 4 Seasons

FIP
2015 - 4.40
2016 - 3.69
2017 - 4.95
2018 - 5.62

HR to FB Ratio
2015 - 13.0%
2016 - 10.0%
2017 - 13.7%
2018 - 15.6%

BB/9
2015 - 3.27
2016 - 1.96
2017 - 3.44
2018 - 4.18

K/9
2015 - 7.67
2016 - 7.99
2017 - 7.22
2018 - 7.10

Average Fastball Velocity
2015 - 92.3
2016 - 91.9
2017 - 92.0
2018 - 90.3

Of pitchers who have thrown at least 50 IP this season Julio ranks..........

Total WAR : 105th out of 110
FIP : 105th out of 110
HR/9 : 97th out of 110
BB/9 : 97th out of 110
K/9 : 81st out of 110
K-BB% : 96th out of 110
Hard Contact Rate % Allowed : 87th out of 110
Average Fastball Velocity : 97th out of 110

Ranks over the Last 4 years.......

Total WAR : 80th out of 124
FIP : 95th out of 124
HR/9 : 96th out of 124
BB/9 : 77th out of 124

Of pitchers throwing at least 600 IP over the last 4 years Julio is DEAD LAST in total WAR. Dead last.

So, in conclusion, Julio is in the bottom 20% of basically every pitching category. He walks too many guys, doesn't strike many out, doesn't throw hard anymore, gives up tons of home runs and gives up lots of hard contact.

Other than that, he's fantastic!

I actually was correct. He wasn't injured prior to the 3rd inning and he was struggling then as well. He was rubbing his finger tips together indicating that he was struggling with grip.

I don't think he's hurt and just think that for whatever reason he was struggling with grip. He kept looking at his fingers, which is something that is easily inspectable by the trainers, so if there was a visible problem they would have taken h

Teheran is the biggest disconnect between Braves fans and Braves management. I've said similar to what you just said.... put some lipstick on him this year and try and get as much as we can for him. BUTTT it seems Braves top brass aren't that serious about it. Maybe they are and are holding their cards close, but it seems they're relying on his experience in this rotation.

He's just tanked at the worst possible time. It was understandable to keep him around during the tear down - he was our only solid major league pitcher. And, while the debate was generally "is he an ace" (of course not, but that's ok), he was still a pretty decent pitcher.

Now, when we could trade him to open a spot and get something back, he has basically turned into a bad backend starter for a decent team. And nobody is going to give us anything for him. And outside of a revamp of how he pitches or some magical injury we don't know about explaining his issues, I think he's pretty much on the path down with no reasonable expectation for him to "get fixed". Meaning, nobody is even going to really want to take a flyer on him.

Any possibility that he's a few years older than we've all been led to believe? It wouldn't be the first instance of someone from Latin America pulling this off. That would explain his falling off a cliff at 27
