Donaldson came up big! Down 2 bottom of the 8th, 3 run homer. 8-7 Braves. Come on Minter don't blow it.

He's warming up I believe.

I’m not even gonna blame minter for this one. He got no bizness being in the game.

He gave up 2 hits and got one out and now Minter got the boot for either Carle or Jackson. There were Braves fans wearing their hats inside out for a rally when Minter was pitching with the lead.

Bullpen issues are pretty widespread across the mlb.
Sure but some are worse than others.Brave's BP is 2nd in the league in runs allowed and 9 of the 14 losses were due to the BP surrendering the lead.If we had an AVERAGE BP we'd be in 1st place.
The Reds have an abundance of talent with closers and middle relievers.
Not even the Braves are going let this season go to waste without making a move and the Reds need young arms.

Exactly why this is so infuriating with this poor mouthing from management.

Also, for those who didn't think Donaldson would be a major contributor this season, I don't know what to tell you. He is a legitimately great player when healthy.

And have no idea why people blame our bullpen woes on his acquisition.
Do they not realize we had 20+ million in dead money (Matt Kemps salary) come off the books from last year?

We’re not even 30 games in. Trades won’t be happening for another month at least. O’day would be nice. No clue if he’s coming back tho.

Never said they weren't but the Braves made a trade yesterday for BP help and the Giants are supposedly shopping around relievers
Who knows? There are plenty of live arms in the organization and they might find a couple of premier relievers pitchers from within.
Look at the Reds, almost every one of their guys were starters who couldn't hack it.

Yah but evaluating a bunch of unknown reds relievers after 1 month of play is difficult. Plus if they are any good, the reds are gonna have all the leverage b/c lots of teams are desperate for bullpen help. The braves will have to look from within, yes because I think even a trade for a proven reliever will be difficult. Which arm would you be willing to give up out of curiosity?

I mean I’m sure there are lower level arms that none of are thinking of, but obviously you wouldn’t trade Anderson, Soroka, Allard, etc. for a middle reliever. With such a competitive division this year, the braves could be out of it by the trade deadline anyways. Who knows. Honestly I just want to get our young starters as much experience as possible so that we can finally get this bitch moving. That’s why I didn’t want Sanchez back.

Well if you're talking about Iglesis it's gonna take a top arm and perhaps a top 25 posistion player not named Pache or Riley.
Iglesis is not unknown or a middle reliever and depending on our level of desperation I would
make Newcomb(he'll be 26 in June),Gohara,Muller and maybe Wright available.
The Braves also talked to the Reds last year about a BP trade
Looks like Garrett is the only one off limits and with all the BP woes throughout MLB they might let him go.
I would make Davidson,Ynoa,Beck and Weigal available for a one on one with their middle guys. The price could be steeper depending how bad the Braves BP continues to slide and if the Reds BP keeps up it's current pace.
Trading or signing for relievers is an obvious risk (look at the FA crop signed this year) but with the offense this team has and the SP looking like its coming around...we can't afford to let the BP waste this season.

We won the division last year and you want us to get "experience" with our young pitchers? Screw that,we've been rebuilding long enough.

Yea but at some point these boys have to graduate and you have to expect some growing pains along the way. Soroka, Allard, Fried, Touki... none of these guys really saw a lot of action last year and they’re basically our future, plus folty and maybe Newcombe. We were fortunate that our division was weak last year, but we were ultimately demolished by the dodgers. This year our division is stacked. Just got to be realistic. Our lineup and rotation can be good enough to win imo. Our bullpen is obviously atrocious tho as currently constructed.
