Absolutely terrible season by washed up Flowers offensively & defensively. McCann/Cervelli platoon can't happen soon enough.

Folty pitched better tonight than his box score line will suggest.

Flowers is the worst catcher in baseball. He missed a fastball straight up. It went over his glove and it was in the zone.

I’d understand if he was hitting .280 with 20 bombs.

Is it 3 passed balls now tonight?

He dropped a fly ball last night.

Jesus.

yeah, his offense the last couple of years was decent for what his role was. This year, not so much.

someone (either here or another site) posted that he has the most passed balls in the league, and he's played in MAYBE half of our games. What a horrendously inadequate option we have back their "catching" for our pitchers.

Good news from the catcher's position is that Cervelli's injury was just a left quad cramp.

He has the most passed balls in the league at 15.

The guy with the second most at 13 has played in 20 more games than TF.

The third most has played in 33 more games than TF.

his passed balls are mostly decent pitches too. like, pitches on the edge of the strike zone. he straight up whiffs on them.

Snit and AA have done a fine job.

Agreed! Great teamwork between the two (at least it looks like it from the outside)

McCann is most important piece to get back for playoffs.

Markakis (if he returns to hitting form) would be nice too.

Any update on these two and when we expect them back?

The starting pitching and bullpen has looked pretty damn solid lately. If the lineup gets back to what it was doing at its peak in time for the playoffs then this team could be a tough out even for the Dodgers, Yankees, Astros.

heard last night that if playoffs started right now the braves would get the central division winner i would feel very well about a matchup against the cards or cubbies

also in the last ten games the Nats are 8-2 the braves.... 8-2 Nats have to be kicking themselves that no ground has been made up in this last 15 game stretch where they have been one of the hottest teams in baseball

Yeah I was looking because it seems like the Nats have been red hot for quite a while. The really caught fire 16 games ago. They have gone 13-3 since August 11. Problem is that the Braves have gone 12-4 since August 11. So they have only been able to shave 1 game off during their hottest extended stretch of the season.

Would love for the Braves to get close to ending this thing with this 9 game home stand starting tomorrow.

Three against White Sox, 2 against the Blue Jays, and then 4 against the Nationals.

2/3 against the WSox, sweep the Jays, and 3/4 against the Nationals would do just fine.

Great night for braves fans who also pull for LSU, Bama, UGA, and even Auburn.

At this point we’re actually closer to the dodgers for the NL lead than the nats are to us for the divisional lead.
