I realize this might seem like a stupid thread, at first, or in totality, but 104.9 The X in Fayetteville has this weird obsession with Sublime music.

I'm not hating, I've had Sublime's greatest hits CD since about 2008 or so, but WTF?? For like three fricking years straight, got to be 60 to 80 Sublime songs a week on that damn station. If not over 100. I'm not inflating the numbers on that estimate.

Jane's Addiction too and/or Porno for Pyro because they've got a slight reggae/"ska punk" sound.

Great music, but it's fricking embarrassing. Stoners from West Plains, Missouri think it's so cool to hear Sublime, AND SO DOES FAYETTEVILLE'S TOP STATION! IT MUST STOP!

Now even the Alfred Milam lawyer radio commercial has a reggae theme. Fine, but it adds to the embarrassment. Too much of a good thing! shite.

Is Brandon Bobbit or Bailey (DJ's) one or more members of that chubby white boy reggae band in Fayetteville that used to play at Jose's? That would make it all make sense if so.

Just curious.

You sure about that?

104.9 is for people who were in high school/college in the 1990s. Sublime has some great stuff, most of it from the earlier albums.

They should play more Beck, especially Odelay and Mellow Gold.

Maybe not number one. I don't know, don't care, I'm just interested in the psych aspect of who is causing the overplay of Sublime.

You might go weeks without Pearl Jam on there. But if I run enough errands from work, I can hear Sublime TWICE in one day, early morning or deep afternoon. And literally, again, for like the past three years friggin straight. Every day!

Who At That Radio Station Is That Self Absorbed? Or maybe they need help moving on. I guarantee an outsider looking in is like "WTF is up with Sublime here? Geez!"

I'm not complaining about the station. I'm just wanting to know who needs mental help. Who is sitting in Fayetteville Arkansas thinking "I need to proselytize more Sublime music. They must hear it. They must."

Perfect timing for the thread

Better than what I get here in South Carolina or back home in Fort Smith.

104.9 isn't my favorite station, but It's What I Got. I think perhaps you are going about this the Wrong Way. Perhaps if you practiced Santeria you could use a crystal ball to find out when Sublime was going to be played. You need to reel yourself in a little bit before you end up Doin'Time and become a victim of Date Rape.

Things I will defend to the death:

1. LR > NWA
2. Pizza Hut > Dominos
3. The honor of Sublime.

Subliminal messages, obviously.

Uh, no You might go three hours, if you're lucky.

I love all those bands, but I'm pretty sick of them, myself. It's like Hotel California on classic rock radio. How has anyone over the age of 20 not passingly heard Hotel California enough to never want to hear it again? Classic rock stations piss me off because there's so much to work with that you should never hear the same song twice in a day, yet they stick to the same CCR, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, and ZZ Top hits. You know, those bands had a lot of great songs that weren't in the top five in the 70s. Play a couple of the deep cuts.

Honestly, I'm glad terrestrial radio in general is dying out. Most of the personalities are douches and/or annoying, and the music is overplayed or lacking in variety. Maybe I'm just getting old, I don't know. The X was my favorite station for like a decade, but I'm really over what they offer, both in DJs and music choices.
