I lived in Stillwater then, had shitty classes and a couple jobs and a young gf, so the msg boards for me were usually me coming home drunk, scanning for good posts, and crashing out without replying because I was 3 hours late to the convo.
Now I'm just pathetic and do a lot of my work on the phone and the computer.

Can you find the exact thread? Sao's earliest use of "flagship" that I have found was on 9/19/10. I looked through June, July, and August 2010 and he didn't use it in any of those months.

From what I can recall it went un-noticed, then came the avatars (I had Gilligan) then the sig, the flagship was being used more and more until finally LSU fan lost his shite completely.
LSUsual was used before that.

Update: that was his earliest use of "flagship" in 2010. He trolled a baseball thread with it a little bit during April, but that's it. I'm guessing "The Flagship" was established sometime earlier, likely in 2009, and he was just pulling it out to troll a thread that a hogsessed LSU fan started. The LSU fans bit, of course.

Update: I've looking through November and December 2009, and Sao didn't record a single use of "flagship" during those months. Perhaps 2010 really was the first time it was used.
Who were some of the other earliest adopters of "flagship"? We've got FleaMarketBill and DaleDenton. I thought I was there, too, but now I have my doubts. I've never used the word much so I don't think looking through my history will be very fruitful.
edit: I have to call it quits for tonight. I have an urgent case first thing tomorrow morning and I need to be well-rested.

Unfortunately I don't believe the thread exists anymore. It was a fricking massive thread, because after tFlagship reference it was filled with LSU fans screaming about it. We kept posting in it long after it had been anchored, and I believe they finally deleted it.

Yeah, I definitely remember that thread. I think you are right about it being deleted because I'm pretty sure I checked in on it from time to time and then it was gone.
For a short time after that, Arkansas fans would turn some random thread into that night's de facto Arkansas IM thread, separate from the official IM thread. It happened just about every night, as I recall.

Yeah, secret IM threads, the longest coaching search thread ever for the basketball coach, which was really an secret IM thread, I think that bad boy hit close to 400 pages.

Oh, and I should mention that the search I did was not exhaustive... I was going through Sao's post history page by page and ctrl+f'ing "flagship"
That's very effective if he posted it within the first 30-50 words, but posts are cut off after that and you have to go to the individual post to see the whole thing. It's possible I missed some flagship references.
