The University of Arkansas System confirmed this week that officials are in talks about potentially acquiring the University of Phoenix, making it the latest example of a public institution considering buying an online for-profit college to expand its reach.

Because those online for-profit universities just print money.

Colleges are just business and scams at this point. There are only about 10 majors that are actually worth it and the rest are just as good as throwing kerosene on paper.

Trade schools are far better values today and you can actually get a job out of college, unlike almost every liberal arts major now.

Likely for the online infrastructure. Higher ed is changing due to covid (students increasingly want online classes) and demographic trends (smaller generation = less potential students).

Institutions will have to compete for students to a greater extent.

I like to think this is the reason. Put UA credibility on the line for better delivery channels. It’s a bold move, Cotton.
