The Danny Ford parallels are eerie.

Last night I was checking winning percentages by coaches who have lasted at least 5 seasons at Arkansas and I noticed how very similar Bielema and Ford were here. Ford lasted 57 games at Arkansas and had a 46.5% winning percentage. Bielema has now coached 58 games at Arkansas and he's won... 46.5% of his games.

It doesn't stop there. Both were coaches who had won big before they came here, though both get an asterisk for those accomplishments. Ford quit right before the NCAA dropped the hammer on Clemson while Bielema stepped into an established Wisconsin job.

Both lobbied for the Arkansas job under suspicious circumstances. Ford stabbed his buddy Joe Kines in the back while Bielema kept in contact with Arkansas even as his Wisconsin team was making a Rose Bowl run.

Both didn't directly follow a successful head coach, they followed the emergency replacement.

If we hire Gus or Norvell both will have been outsiders to the state replaced by Arkansas natives.

And finally, both coaches underachieved with the talent with their teams folding quickly in winnable games.

God, what a depressing thought. History does repeat itself.

One more thing they both have in common. Both of them will have had only one season with a winning record in SEC play.

Wow, it's a pretty striking comparison.

Both coaches' best seasons were 8-5, which came in year 3.

The difference is that Coach Ford had some studs coming in when he was fired. Both were pretty bad gameday coaches.

You could argue there is some impressive young talent on this team...kurl, Hayden and Jones all look good

Did Danny dance in the locker room after beating Louisiana Tech in 1997?

Ford left us with Stoerner and BB is leaving us Cole Kelley.

If the next coach can clean up the OL then we'd pretty good again.

Ford begged for one more year because he knew what he had coming back. If he gets another year then who knows.

Bielema had a worse resume than Ford. Ford won a Natty and will still be regarded as a fantastic head coach overall and is a Clemson legend. Bielema did lead Wisconsin to three straight Rose Bowls after they had not been in one for 10 years but Wisconsin has been in so many Rose Bowls and will continue to be in so many Rose Bowls that it's really not that impressive. Bielema has been a better coach at Arkansas than Ford, but still very mediocre to bad. Ford is a much superior coach

not sure why we are comparing.. it is easy enough to say that they both sucked here and just move on to someone better...

It is odd how their stays here have mirrored each other but trying to declare which of them was better while he was here is like arguing other whether you'd prefer to die from Ebola or cancer. Neither one is something you want.

I agree it was more of a side comment. I'm just saying Ford is a way better coach than Bielema likely will ever be.
