I'm thinking who we hire won't be anyone really mentioned yet or someone mentioned in jest as someone we don't think we could hire. It'll be out of left field and it will check the boxes required to be considered a home run and a program builder.
So nobody mentioned in this thread, not that I wouldn't be happy to hire someone mentioned here.

Does anyone on this board have a history of sauces?

Fickel may have. A decent record a Cincy, but he was flat out not good as the Ohio state coach for a year.... The same team basically that Urban came in from day 1 and went undefeated with in 2012.
What does that's say... I dont know, but the guy has never been out of Ohio it tells me the guy massively underachieved at the one P5 job he's had a... One with way, way, way more talent Than Arkansas in a far weaker league.
I say frick it, hire Lane and get the talent up and win 6-7 games a year...id be happy.

I wonder if the Fickel rumors are because he's Steinmetz's favorite.

I don’t have any sources, but just a feel that lane turns us down. Hope I’m wrong

If our fricking President is involved in the search and floating names and ordering Fagg to make contact, then just fricking death penalty tbe program right now.
That is so messed up and so stupid, I can't express it in words. He must really have some pull in this though because Irwin predicted Fickel would be the guy 5 days ago. This is ridiculous.
Just hire Lane Train and call it a day.

Steinmetz is the Chancellor not President.
They get involved remember John White.
Steinmetz replaced Gearhart.

Several people on this board know people in the know about a lot of stuff, but I don't think anyone actually knows who this coach is going to be at this point. And if anyone actually did know they wouldn't be telling people on the internet.

this... I heard we were in contact with Norvell, and that Kiffin contacted a BOT member almost immediately following the firing.
But nothing is solid this early, and it all may be smoke. The two places I get info were correct on Petrino 14 hours prior to it breaking. And was connected to a baseball agent, believe it or not. Heard it in an elevator in NW Arkansas speaking to a friend.

I'm not getting involved this time around.
My give a damn is completely broke. I'll tune back in with the football program briefly to find out who they hired and then again about mid July next year.
At this point if it weren't for basketball I probably wouldn't even have an account on this site. I didn't watch one second of the game today. Which is pretty crazy for me because I am normally a die-hard hog optimist. I just can't do it anymore for awhile. Total waste of time and energy and emotion.

Norvell is the move. He's always been the move.
Posted on 11/23/19 at 11:29 pm to wmr
Norvell is waiting and wand watching the curve at the moment.
Posted on 11/23/19 at 11:52 pm to wmr
Talked to norvell's best friend's brother in law tonight and he's still holding out for FSU, but his real goal is Tennessee
He was turned off by our last coaching search supposedly
Take it for what it's worth

Supposedly everyone is going nuts by Kiffin and Fagg following each other in the last day or so on Twitter.
Apparently kiffin also just started following Chizik and now everyone thinks he's going to be a DC candidate.
I have no idea what any of this means. There's seem s like too much kiffin smoke which means it won't be him...

Yeah...
Heard the same on Norvell and Jack Ruby is probably right.
Who was hot at the beginning of the search and now we hear nothing about? That's the one...

This. I know a couple guys with deep connections and they hear peripheral rumors and whispers around the AD and BOT, but for the most part this has been kept pretty quiet.
Rev usually hears the same things I do and vise versa, so I know they're pretty legit as far as what's being passed around. Yurachek is keeping pretty quiet just like the basketball search, but I don't think the coach will come out of left field this time; it'll be someone we've talked about quite a bit.
I didn't start hearing anything about Fickell through the "back channels" until a few days ago, one of my buddies even said it was BS when the media first reported it but has now changed his tune. They've said from the beginning that Kiffin reached out immediately and are now saying he has interviewed, and that Norvell has gone cold for the time being. Hopefully he's just waiting to see what FSU does.
Leach is somewhat of a mystery, he's apparently expressed interest to the AD but that's about all I know. Rev may be able to share more.
1. Fickell
2. Kiffin
3. Norvell
Is how it currently appears, based on rumors. I'm also factoring in stuff I didn't hear from my friends, such as the national media and footballscoop. If it were just up to what I've heard from the guys, Kiffin would be #1 with Fickell #1b.

You hit it on the head, But I would choose Kiff, Norvell, Leach, Fick...
Another name that was hitting until the $$$ thing hit was Campbell.
I still don't know why Clark isn't mentioned more, unless he just refuses to leave Bama.

I wonder if any feelers at all were even put out to Clark. He's probably viewed as "small time" by lots of boosters money folks etc. because he's such an under the radar guy at a very unheralded program in a very undercovered league.
But if the figures are true, he makes like 500K a year at UAB. Maybe he does love Alabama that much but damn, he could easily make $3+ million at Arkansas and he is as sure fire of a program rebuilder as it gets.

I don’t think he’s leaving UAB unless Bama or Auburn come calling
