re: OT- Any of you guys VA home owners?

My first home loan with my ex was a VA loan. The only nightmare was on our part. We had to jump through MANY hoops for them as well as the bank, and you're right, they require excellent credit. For qualification, all i's were dotted and t's were crossed. It was a cake walk for the sellers. They had four other offers on their house, but chose ours because everything was in place and we had been scrutinized, STRONGLY, by both the bank & VA, so they knew we were good to go. The wife, who is a real estate agent, said she loved VA loans because the buyers must be well qualified. The closing was fine; went without a hitch. This was many years ago, but I can't imagine things are that different now.
