We get him.
He and Gatewood probably had to spend a few hours this afternoon finding his dad to sign his new NLI.
Tomorrow he will have a ceremony where he signs his part then faxes it in.

Because maybe he valued his relationship with his mom and wanted to try and patch things up first? Maybe he wants to reschedule the ceremony at his school? There are a number of reasons he could've wanted to wait.

This really sucks for him. All his hard work, and excitement - only to have his Mom try to take his spot in the light.

Having a coach that is a former team mate and friend of someone on the Arkansas staff, regardless if he is Alex' Legal Guardian, sign his NLI over the protest of his biological mother would bring the NCAA wolves screaming into Fayetteville.

Gatewood and Patridge went to school together and played together at Plantation, Gatewood has a better contact into the coaching world right there than needing to go the Malzahan/Freeze route...

I know. I read an article where he addressed the rumors a few nights back, talking about how much he gets paid to coach and too look at his truck if he is getting paid to steer recruits to schools, he would be driving something nicer or with all the windows in it at least.
Miami is screwing themselves over and don't know it, CBB and crew just needs to sit back and play the nice guy. Then rake in the recruits next year...

I really don't see this following Collins like you do. Yeah it was a fricking weird story but unless Collins drags this out any more than a day, the worst that will happen is joking in the locker room.
