From the looks of THIS your prayers will go unanswered as Venables son signed with Clemson not to mention two top 10 DL going to Clemson's D.

Urban nabbed the Grinch as his tenth assistant.

I hadn't heard this yet. When I first heard of this possibility, I thought no way. But it sounds like he may be more of a DC in waiting, for when Schiano gets a HC gig. Must be nice. I despise Urban Meyer.

I searched for news on Grinch. If that has happened, it hasn't been made public yet.

He can go get the coDC title and when Schiano leaves full control on his way to HC.

eh perhaps. guess we'll see. was always a pipe dream to begin with.

that said, reggie herrings son signed with auburn. and morris is the only leverage we have to get vegetable here, but it's the leverage that got him to leave OU for clemson. plus I'm sure OU was bringing in defensive studs before he left for clemson.

This isn't true.
Venables was fired from Oklahoma to make way for brother Stoops. Then Terry Don Phillips told Swinney to approach Venables for the DC position.

Maybe Morris had a hand in getting the deal finalized, but it certainly wasn't Morris who orchestrated any of that.

Oh really? Can you link me to anything he or anyone else outside a message board has said he didn't get fired from Oklahoma? We have discussed this numerous times.

ETA: Also, in what universe do you think an OC is allowed to go hire a DC?

LOL. Like I said, Morris may have helped Venables make a decision, but people around here are taking that shite too far. People wanna act like Morris was single handedly responsible for all of Clemson's success.

Morris is gonna get Old Chief on that Red Bull diet, gonna give him wings so he can keep up with the young bucks.
I'm not excited about this hire but Hogs will prob be weak to avg for two seasons anyway. Hopefully that's as long as Chavis is here before retirement.

I can't imagine Morris will be willing to lose his credibility with the Razorback fans this early in the game. Selling Chavis as experienced and established is one thing, selling him as excitement, high energy level, and having get up and go is utter bullshite.

Very little of what Morris is saying leads me to believe Chavis is the guy. If he is, we'll know right off the jump that our coach is full of shite.

Maybe the chief can put a decent defense on the field. We haven't had one in a long time.

This is a mistake IMO. He will have less talent and I think the game is passing him by.

Here is a little food for thought on Chavis:

We went 2-4 against LSU in the 6 years Chavis was their DC, averaging 22.5 points per game against them.

In 2009, his first year, LSU had the #1 recruiting class in the nation, including 2-5* defensive players, and 6-4* defensive players.

In 2010, LSU had the #9 class, including 6-4* defensive players.

In 2011, LSU had the #8 class, including 1-5*, and 3-4* defensive players.

In 2012, LSU had the #13 class, including 8-4* defensive players.

In 2013, LSU had the #6 class, including 10-4* defensive players.

In 2014, LSU had the #2 class, including 2-5*, and 4-4* defensive players.

Maybe you are right about Chavis, and if he is the guy, I hope you are. But if you think there is any possibility of him having the quality of players that his defense managed to lose to us twice with, I think you are setting yourself up for a terrible disappointment.

ETA: If you're counting, that's 5-5*, and 37-4* defensive players in 6 years. Unreal.

I've said before none of us even have the choice, but don't like the fact that we have TONS of interest, but we can't say chavis due to a possible but out.

So which one sounds like the better option pay 1.6 million so us plebs can stop wondering? Or save 1.6 million and make the exact same damn decision? Who tf wants to pay 1.6 million because they can't keep their mouth shut? That is just idiotic.

If Chavis is in fact brought in, has anyone else heard Ron Cooper, Terry Joseph, and Terry Price to join him along with bringing back John Scott?

It’s going to happen with Grinch and Ohio State. Worst kept secret in the coaching carousel

Or that it’s coach speak and you should never take what a coach says as the gospel.

I mean damn didn’t Bielema teach y’all anything from all his times with the media.

I find it humorous how fans get all in a tizzy over assistant coaches hired/fired/not renewed. As long as they can coach the players they have and if those players aren’t good enough be able to recruit and get better talent, that’s all we can ask.
